Conservatism, folks.

George freaking Will wrote a column on this today.  I won't post the whole thing, but the basic premise is that Trump's government is acting like a socialist regime.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/what-might-a-socialist-american-government-do/2018/07/06/e60b10ce-8079-11e8-b0ef-fffcabeff946_story.html?utm_term=.a4c83028b7fa

What might a socialist American government do?

Quote

Socialism favors the thorough permeation of economic life by “social” (a.k.a. political) considerations, so it embraces protectionism — government telling consumers what they can buy, in what quantities and at what prices. (A socialist American government might even set quotas and prices for foreign washing machines.)

Socialism favors vigorous government interventions in the allocation of capital, directing it to uses that far-sighted government knows, and the slow-witted market does not realize, constitute the wave of the future. So, an American socialist government might tell, say, Carrier Corp. and Harley-Davidson that the government knows better than they do where they should invest shareholders’ assets.

Socialism requires — actually, socialism is — industrial policy, whereby government picks winners and losers in conformity with the government’s vision of how the future ought to be rationally planned. What could go wrong? (Imagine, weirdly, a president practicing compassionate socialism by ordering his energy secretary to prop up yesterday’s coal industry against the market menace of fracking — cheap oil and natural gas.)

Socialism favors vast scope for ad hoc executive actions unbound by constraining laws that stifle executive nimbleness and creativity. (Imagine an aggrieved president telling, say, Harley-Davidson: “I’ve” — first-person singular pronoun — “done so much for you.”)

And so on.

the fact the Environmental Protection Agency is OKing a "super polluter" truck is simply mind boggling.

It's like pediatricians handing out razor blades to 4 year olds because it's healthy.

**** these people. And **** anyone who supports them.

Come on. The Bible is very long and these Trump supporter are slow readers. They started at the beginning of the book where they learned all the science they needed, and then picked up their morality soon after. They didn't get to the New Testament and hippy socialist loving Jesus.

I think the basic question for a Trump supporter is whether there is anything now that would disqualify a republican candidate? Pedoplhilia is apparently OK for a US Senate candidate. What would it take to disqualify someone with an R next to their name on the ballot?

Come on, you all haven't listed the obvious.  If the candidate isn't completely obedient to Donald Trump, then they are disqualified..

So, a genuine question with nothing political meant by asking.  What is Trump doing with his plane?  Obviously doesn't need it.  Is it mothballed somewhere?

He's probably renting it to the government, at three times market value, to carry his entourage.

Sits on the tarmac at LaGuardia. You see it every time you fly out.

Why do we have to "allow" breast feeding anyway? I mean what kind of backwards **** is that?

If you EVER wanted to know the power of marketing and opinion shaping simply look at the debate around breastfeeding and formula. If an industry can convince entire populations to buy something that is freely available to 95% of people for FREE then that’s all the proof I need that messaging and advertising works.

...and YES I am well aware some women have difficulty breastfeeding, my wife is one, she tried with both of our kids.

But the idea that shaming women for feeding the children, or somehow thinking that formula is better is completely the result of the industry influence, not to mention the sexualization of breasts. Of course I never could figure out why they couldn’t be both!

Why can’t people just be grateful for all the things Trump has done for us......
