The back judge has a completely unobstructed view of the obvious and any ref on the field can see the defender is nowhere near him and yet somehow pulls him back with one long arm to his head. Yeah true they were in their lanes on running plays (though as you noted, they didn't really do much outside of be in their lanes and you expect more from these guys), but on passing plays they seemed to be easily handled by the OL they were up against on every snap.
