Miami has no incentive to move up. None of the four teams ahead of them are taking Tua. Hell I'm not even sure Tua will be considered for that #5 pick, he might be available for them at #18 if he isn't healthy by the combine/private workout time.

All of this is pending Tuas health, but i cant see him falling past Miami at 5.  If he does, San Diego will fall all over themselves to get him

Detroit - no. 3

Miami - no. 5

Las Angeles Chargers - no. 6

Carolina - no. 7

Las Vegas - no. 12

Indy - no. 13

Tampa Bay - no. 14

The case can be made for any of those teams that Tua would make sense.. and if he falls to 8, i can see a team like New England looking to move up and get him.  Any of those teams could try and get to 2 or 3 and get Tua if he is their guy and they belive Miami will take him at 5.

The arm and confidence I see.

The leadership I don’t. What examples have we seen of this? He very well could be a leader... he was a rookie and well behind the curve, so he may blossom into it. But have we seen this to tout it as one of his qualities currently? I’m genuinely asking.

To me, when I see him going over and talking to his teammates after something bad happens, even though he’s a rookie, and players didn’t seem to want to listen.  I see that as leadership quality.  When he goes over and asks his linemen what he can do to help them, that’s the kind of thing a leader does.  The reason you don’t see him barking at people in year one, is because he’s a rookie, and because he doesn’t have command of the offense yet.  I think that will change in year two and three.

Barking isn’t necessarily leadership.

The part above...

About his teammates not listening?

That means, to that point, he wasn’t a leader.

Again, he improved since and things seemed to turn around. But he did not display, in my opinion, leadership qualities last season.

Doesnt mean he can’t. Doesn’t mean the situation didn’t dictate that. But, he has a lot to show on that front in my opinion.

What Peyton Manning got high praise for, telling people where to be, and trying to motivate his teammates in the huddle, that’s what I call barking.  His teammates weren’t listening because he hadn’t proven himself.  He was still a backup in the instance I’m referring to.  When you start balling, your teammates respect you.

not always the case. Playing better doesn’t make you a leader.

That’s not what I said.  Okay.

It is, though. At least In the sense that you seem to be correlating respect with leadership. Maybe that’s not what you meant there, but given the context of the convo that’s what I read it is, which, of course, could be a misread.

Haskins has a lot to prove. And he can do it.

I just see him differently than many here. I see him as a capable player going into his second season where he has some stability and has gotten his feet wet that has a chance to cement himself as the Redskins QB.

Others here (not you) think he has already shown he’s the man.

Still others think he 100% can’t pan out.

This season will be an excellent opportunity for him.

When you start playing better, and you’re no longer a backup.  People take your encouragement and advice more seriously.  Nobody was brushing him off after he started playing well.

Based on our earlier conversation if that's what you thought I was saying it was not, not at all. He has a very long way to go. My only point was that I could see signs of leadership. He took ownership of his deficiencies and he worked to hard correct them. Guys respect that, a lot. And you could see he had a better command of the huddle and guys were respecting him and starting to work for him instead of going through the motions. To me those are signs he is growing into being a leader. But "the man!", not hardly.

Not directed at you, just using this as a launch pad - I think peoples expectations are way out of proportion to reality. We are so hungry for good play that the second I guy makes a mistake or has a bad game - he is a complete POS the rest of his career until the team gets rid of them. He is still very young - and spare me the he is legally an adult crap. As someone about to turn 60 he is just barely out of diapers and his maturity - just like all of us at that age, is still very young.

This is a big year for him but the expectations need to be realistic. Even with an amazing season he will still have a ways to go. At least he will be starting with a fresh staff that I believe the coaches will give him every opportunity and provide true support. So much else is made easier if he pans out.

That brings me back to Chase - The closer the draft comes, the truly QB needy teams are gong to get more and more nervous. Also, all of a sudden there will be several teams. I will be very interested in seeing what they do.

I can truly see both arguments - the argument for drafting Chase is we do not have those blue chop players. While there are no grantees he has ht best chance of any player the last 10 to 15 drafts to be that guy. But if they can get a truly franchise changing trade like say the Hershal Walker trade.

Again, I am excited to see where they go.

I trust those geeks at PFF a lot more than draft gurus, I'm all about data. The fact that Chase Young received the highest grade they've ever given a DE should get us all very excited. Those are strict, unbiased numbers that also imply the impact on the game as well. You can't find a better prospect.

I think this way of thinking is premature.....it has nothing to do with the teams ahead of them as much as who Miami might be afraid of trading up ahead of them to get Tua. I know you know this, but I'm just trying to say there is a long way to go before late April and how great of a prospect Tua might be.

As a side note, it wouldn’t surprise me if Young’s workout numbers aren’t as high as people expect. You can’t find them online anywhere. Usually for these athletic freaks, there is something online stating that they had a fast time measured in the 40, or have an amazing vertical, or bench/deadlift/squat numbers. For Chase there is nothing. And his 40 wasn’t that fast coming out of HS.

NFLDraftScout posted some 40 yd dash times:

40 Low: 4.46   40 Time: 4.57  40 High: 4.67

If Detroit passes on tua, I don't see why the Giants would stay at 4 instead of trading back.  Especially when you see Andrew Thomas being mocked there, trading back to get one of the other comparable OTs and getting extra picks seems enticing. I hope they stay and take Thomas, I think it is their worst move.  If I were them, I'd auction tua at 4.

I think once the combine and proday for Herbert come and go his stock will climb into the top 5. This could result in possibly devaluing Tua's stock because teams know they can get Herbert as a healthy plan B a little lower down without giving up the farm. We just need not over think this. Go with Chase and move forward with the no brainer.

Thats why detroit and miami make the most sense.. they have a starter in place for 2020

Its the NFL draft and we are talking about QBs. Every year teams that need QBs start falling in love with the guy and they raise up the rankings. Someone will fall in love with Tua and decide they need to have him - maybe two teams or more based on potential. Don't be surprised if someone makes a major move.

Hmmm.  That list may be the best argument for drafting Chase Young I've seen to date.  It appears the Redskins are not as good at EDGE as we may have believed.  So we are talking about getting the consensus best player in the draft at what may, in reality, be a position of need.
