  1. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7219008/ I think the proposed 4 week timeline from this article is aggressive, but he should be ready for the start of the season. A jones fracture is an easy fix, and does not tend to be a recurrent issue.
  2. I want to see what people would have done if they could also choose not to make that trade down from 40. I’m going to do mine after the 4 year old is in bed. Edit: OK. Here is how I would have picked given hindsight, the chance to read about some of their picks, and with the assumption that if they chose a guy at 50, he wouldn't have been there at 67. (1-2)Jayden Daniels - I originally wanted Drake Maye, but I suck at scouting quarterbacks and it seems like 95% of scouts, GM's and coaches had Daniels over Maye. (2-36) Jer-Zhan Newton. I wanted this real time. The PFF guys I was listening to leading up to the draft were just raving about Newton. I think one of them had him at something like the 11th best prospect overall. I love that we made this pick. I think it shows that we are now going to be drafting like Baltimore or the Eagles or Steelers. Talent drops and you steal it. (2-40) Cooper Dejean. You can't have enough impact players. Cooper is a versatile, star caliber player that plays at a position of real need for us. I hate that we gave him to the Eagles. If we'd drafted Cooper, I think we could legitimately say that we drafted three 1st round talents. (3-67)Cooper Beebe. I think he's an elite talent and would have given us an elite interior OL. I know we need tackles. Hopefully Brandon Coleman proves me wrong here. (3-78)Troy Franklin. I still think we need WR talent and Troy Franklin has elite on field speed. Jayden Daniels has a great deep ball and I think the fit would have been great. Also love the idea of Franklin and Terry on the outside and Dotson at slot. (3-100)Javon Foster. We get our RT of the future. After this point is where I am relying on the opportunity to educate myself about some of our picks, in Hindsight. (5-139)Jordan Magee. In retrospect, I think this is a great pickup. I can see this as a classic Adam Peters, mid-round LB steal. (5-161)Johnny Wilson. A big bodied target for Jayden Daniels. How much did we need another safety? I thought about Christian Jones here, but he seems like Maybe JAG. I don't have a big problem with choosing Dominique Hampton though. Seems like a natural replacement for Jeremy Chinn and a decent fit for the defense. (7-222) Jaheim Bell. Not the blocker that Sinnott is, and maybe just doesn't have the size to be a classic in line TE. But, he is an explosive athlete, can be used as a receiver, runner, and gadget guy, and in the 7th, I think represents good value. So, that is: Jayden Daniels Jer-Zahn Newton Cooper Dejean Cooper Beebe Troy Franklin Javon Foster Jordan Magee Johnny Wilson Jaheim Bell Honestly, I think if I'd posted that haul in the mock draft thread, before the draft, everyone would have rolled their eyes and called it wildly unrealistically good.
  3. I had forgotten that Kirk is 35, but still. He just signed a 4 year, 180 million dollar contract with 100 million guaranteed. If the goal is to win a Super Bowl while you have a QB, you don’t spend a top 10 pick on his backup. I don’t know anybody else that really thinks that drafting Penix was a good idea, but I guess that you do. And yes, it’s a waste of one of the benefits of having a QB on a rookie contract. Anyway, back to our draft. I loved the Newton pick. I think I’d rather have Cooper DeJean than Mike Sainristil and Ben Sinnott, but maybe that trade will pan out ok. Honestly, I’d rather have had Beebe than Sinnott at that spot. But I guess we will see. I think we’d all feel better if the team had done more at tackle. I’m still hoping we add a tackle in free agency or via trade.
  4. It’s still a waste of a valuable rookie QB contract. That’s a huge part of the value of having a rookie QB. Having your QB on a cheap contract. It’s egregiously bad team building.
  5. It’s just a jones fracture in the foot. He had surgery after his pro day I think. There is no residual issue with those kinds of injuries. It will be like it never happened.
  6. I’m surprised there isn’t more hype here for Kool-Aid. He’s a perfect scheme fit. Our corners are a joke. BSJ and Forbes at the top of the depth chart? Kool-Aid is the guy I hope drops to 36. I’d go BPA again at 40. there will be some right tackles at 67. I think we are probably to the point where we should be planning on drafting a LT in the 1st next year.
  7. The fact that we heard so much about Daniels and JJ makes me a little suspicious we want Maye. Thou doth protest too much?
  8. Love Jared Verse. Wish it was a non, "Getting our QB year", so we could grab him. Also, pouring a little liquor out tonight for Volsmet. Would be nice to have him in the draft forum. Subtraction by subtraction. Would have been nice to keep him in the fold.
  9. Jinxes aren't, but curses are. Nothing was ever going to work with Dan Snyder. RGIII. Chase Young. Hopefully this really is a new era.
  10. No. They don’t reconstruct ithe ACL in a lot of non athletes. Especially in Europe. I wonder if it’s true that Wilson doesn’t have an ACL. I hadn’t heard that. There was some NBA prospect a while back that was missing both and did well. But, different sport obviously.
  11. Which actually suits me just fine. He’s a good passer. His running ability will absolutely affect pass rush game plans, having a spy, situation dependent man vs zone etc. and we will kill teams multiple times a game on scrambles. I would prefer not to have apt of designed runs. Also, I’ve really come around on him. If, as it seems is true, most of the coaching and scouting community has Daniels at 2, by a sizable margin, am I really confident that I’m right and they are wrong? I can’t wait until Thursday night and then, maybe just as much so, Friday!
  12. My first impression of JD’s agent on twitter was that it’s a big nothing burger. I don’t think Kevin would repost with an eyeball emoji if it was actually a big nothing burger. I am sure Keim will be reserved in his online commentary regarding the situation though.
  13. Watching this, I couldn't help but envision Drake May hitting him on a seam route. I agree. I am very interested.
  14. I just wanted to chime in, in favor of a move up for Brian Thomas if we draft Daniels. A core of Thomas, McLaurin and Dotson would be very solid for a rookie QB, and we’d have plenty of deep speed and tracking ability for Daniels.
  15. Can you break down what he said about Daniels? I’d love to be made increasingly comfortable with possibly passing on the guy I like.
  16. The P2S ratio doesn’t bother me that much with Daniels just because in his most recent year, it’s not that much worse than Maye’s. Maybe that’s foolish. It’s the age, the reliance on athleticism with a high risk running style, and the lack of ability to drive the ball, throws with anticipation, or throw players open. If we take him, I’m going to watch a bunch of highlights and be excited. I’ll be pissed if we take JJ.
  17. The thing to me that is reassuring about the Daniels smoke, is that it is nothing like the Forbes smoke. The Forbes smoke was that we were going to take Forbes. The Daniels smoke is that there may be an emerging consensus among coaches and the scouting community that Daniels is actually better. That's not how I feel about it, but my track record is terrible. Although, it's often been terrible in the sense that I've missed by overvaluing production and accuracy and undervaluing traits.
  18. But Penei had that elite tape. I'm not saying you're wrong about Rosengarten in particular, but his measurements and testing look very comparable to Sam Cosmi, to me, and we all know how that turned out. Cosmi and Rosengarten, and Penei all have roughly 33 inch arms, or just over.
  19. I am curious what the dialogue in the front office was about Penix, and find it interesting that we brought him in.
  20. Just to be clear, I don't think Ben Johnson would have led us to a better record than Quinn. I prefer Quinn as a coach. I just thought Johnson was the perfect guy to bring up a young QB, and I didn't care about wins in the first few years. Maybe that's naive. And just to be clear, I feel like it comes off that I'm crapping on Daniels and don't like him at all as a prospect. I like Daniels. Again, if we were picking at 3, I would be ecstatic to draft Daniels. I just think that picking the older guy with less traits, less historical precedent in terms of similar prospects, and some concerning analytics is bad process. Daniels could still wind up being better than Maye.
