NoCalMike
Honestly at this point who cares about Hannity showing up at a Trump rally. He is not a news anchor, doesn't work for a news organization. He is just a right-wing radio host who happens to also have a TV show. Whether you like the guy or not, all things being fair, no way can he be considered a journalist.

They believe what he tells them to believe and trusts his word whole heartedly. They shouldn't, of course, but they do. That fifty percent, maybe it's only thirty percent, unquestioningly march to every FOX News and Hannity utterance. They don't even pause to question why the reality of their lives and what they can see and touch bare no relationship to the picture that Hannity, FOX, Breitbart, Infowars, and the rest of them paint. They just nod their heads, repeat, and rage.

All that is true, it's a tricky situation because the left getting mad about him showing up there almost in turns legitimizes the idea that he is a journalist. Hannity's whole show is basically a bait and switch. IIRC he has quietly admitted publicly that he isn't a "journalist" and his show isn't actually a news show in the regular sense of the term, but at the same time the entire show is set up and conducted to look and feel exactly like real news shows so people who watch it will, if even subconsciously, treat it as such. We may think they are joke, but a huge chunk of the country treats them like a legitament news source, thus think a lot of what they are getting away with is okay because it's technically legal. UK was about to sue the hell out of them before they decided to leave, they dont let entities claiming to be news agencies roll like that.

LD0506
Quote In the 158th year of the American civil war, also known as 2018, the Confederacy continues its recent resurgence. Its victims include black people, of course, but also immigrants, Jews, Muslims, Latinos, trans people, gay people and women who want to exercise jurisdiction over their bodies. The Confederacy battles in favor of uncontrolled guns and poisons, including toxins in streams, mercury from coal plants, carbon emissions into the upper atmosphere, and oil exploitation in previously protected lands and waters. Its premise appears to be that protection of others limits the rights of white men, and those rights should be unlimited. The Brazilian philosopher of education Paulo Freire once noted that “the oppressors are afraid of losing the ‘freedom to oppress’”. Of course, not all white men support extending that old domination, but those who do see themselves and their privileges as under threat in a society in which women are gaining powers, and demographic shift is taking us to a US in which white people will be a minority by 2045. https://amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/nov/04/the-american-civil-war-didnt-end-and-trump-is-a-confederate-president

mistertim
Press conference is off the hook. NoCalMike
Trump is just playing the part that his supporters want him to when it comes to the press. He gets a pass from them on the fact that he refuses to answer legitimate questions and/or just completely makes up answers when he clearly doesn't know the facts being presented to him. Remember, Trump is just Frankenstein's monster at this point. He is the equivalent of a 3rd rate right-wing talk radio host if one of them was actually elected to public office.
