Absolutely true in precise detail and independently verified by my confidential sources on Reddit.

The holdup seems to be Rodgers demand that the WFT provide him a lifetime pass to the VIP room at any Scores gentleman’s club in the world. It seems Snyder insists on a clause requiring Aaron to record and send him a copy of all the “good bits” for his personal collection.

I expect a confirmation from Schefter in a few days once the final details are worked out.

This nonsense is getting ridiculous.  Sweat, 2 1sts, and more for a soon to be 38 year old qb.  That's laughable.

I'd give up a 2021 1st, and not much more.  I'm not giving up a young stud like sweat.  I'm not giving up multiple 1sts.  I'd rather have 2 1sts and fitz than Rodgers.   If that means we dont get him, so be it.

Multiple firsts to be instant Super Bowl contenders?  Count me in.  But agreed, not giving up any of our young guys that are already in house.

Does it move the needle any that Rodgers dominates the Cowboys in the regular season and post season?  As a bonus, I think he is undefeated in the Cowboys fancy stadium.

I can't imagine Rodgers going for anything less than 2 1sts at the absolute bare minimum. Yeah he's 37 years old, but he's a first ballot HoFer and just came off of an MVP season. It would be a different story if he'd come off of a down season, but he's playing the best football of his career at the moment. If he's absolutely dead set on not playing this season GB would be idiots to not trad him while he's hot.

That's alluring no doubt.

My stance is due to this: he will be 38 this year.  He was pretty mediocre in his first year in lafleurs system, and considering struggles are typical during a transition phase, year 1 we can expect the same here.  Now he is 39.  He has a young wife, with aspirations of her own, and Rodgers has plenty of money and accomplishments. How important is it to him to keep playing?   He also is forcing his way out of g bay bc he didn't like their personnel moves, will he do something similar here?  Are we not allowed to draft QB of the future / defensive players out of fear of ruffling his feathers?

A 1st rounder, ok no problem.  Significantly more than that I think is too steep a cost considering him having success here is not a given.  He was awesome as a 37 year old in green bay.  But he is getting older and I don't think his transition here is a slam dunk.   If you could guarantee me 3 years of MVP caliber play, sure, go for it.  I just think the odds of 3 years of MVP caliber play are not very good (how did Brees do the last 3 years, and that's in a system he knows like the back of his hand.  We can't expect another Tom Brady to be the norm), so I'd rather roll with Fitz and use the 2 first rounders to continue adding talent or to use as ammo on a young qb that will grow with our young defense.

The fact that he is a first ballot HOF is only a positive for us bc of the experience that comes with it.  Aside from that, paying that steep a price for past production is foolish.

I agree, g bay would be foolish to not trade him if he won't suit up for them, and I do believe he would probably fetch 2 firsts.  That doesn't mean it's a good deal for the team on the other end.

I agree with the downside risk being a concern.  It has been fairly common for great QBs to have their play drop off a cliff quickly after looking very good.  Brees and Manning come to mind.  There is also the possibility that he just decides to move on from football if he doesn't have a great experience with a new team.  With all the excitement it would bring, I would want some protection on the downside.  I would be hesitant to trade for him without picks being contingent on games played, making the playoffs, etc.

How to be the most hated team in the league. Step 1: Have a douchebag owner. Step 2: Trade for Deshaun Watson. Step 3: Win a lot of games with this combination.

Does anyone think we're crazy enough to trade for him?

Watson to Philly or Miami back on then is it.

I don't know, I wonder what his value is right now? Obviously the team who is taking him on would be assuming a lot of risk and adversity. There is no way he commands the same now that he did in the beginning of the offseason, so a team will probably get a bargain based on his talent.

IMO we're a top 5 team in the league with him, but it certainly wouldn't reflect well upon the organization lol.

Bet a more extensive "good bits" clause would also apply with a Watson contract offer :806:

Sheehan said he talked to a Vegas odds maker whol told him that acquiring Rodgers would catapult their odds to win a SB, only team they'd have a hair over them would be Tampa.

For me quibbling about Aaron Rodgers is a waste of time.  I'd do the ESPN proposed trade for Aaron in 2 seconds. But I just don't see it happening.

We are ranked 24th in the NFL Network power rankings.  In some others almost as low.  Some much better than that.  but we aren't really in serious conversation for a SB.  Some do think we can sneak into the playoffs and repeat peak Dans year with a one and done type season.  they can be wrong but I get why we aren't in serious conversation for a SB with some even doubting we make the playoffs. Personally I think they make the playoffs but they'd squeak in.

I might be the biggest Fitzpatrick fan on the board.  Yet, I'd trade for Rodgets in 2 seconds.  It's a no brainer to me.  But the odds it happens IMO is almost as great as one of us here starting as the QB next year so don't feel like debating the fantasy much.  I am surprised that there is a vocal minority both here and twitter that opposes the idea.  To me its not even close.  But to each their own.  😀

https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/football-team/how-washingtons-nfc-east-and-super-bowl-odds-would-change-aaron-rodgers

If the Washington Football Team acquired Aaron Rodgers in a swap with the Packers, then their odds of winning the division, winning the conference and winning the Super Bowl would all increase.

Hopefully your brain is still intact after that eye-opening, mind-melting revelation.

How much would they change, however? That's a question that NBC Sports Washington's Mitch Tischler posed to the sportsbook PointsBet, and PointsBet was happy to respond with that info.

Before getting to their answer, though, here is where the Burgundy and Gold currently stands, sans Rodgers:

  • +260 to capture NFC East title (second behind Dallas)
  • +2200 to represent NFC in the Super Bowl
  • +5000 to win the Super Bowl

And here is how much Rodgers' presence would (hypothetically) impact their 2021 outlook:

  • -150 to capture NFC East title (obviously, that'd make them the favorite)
  • Somewhere between +750 and +1000 to represent NFC in the Super Bowl
  • Somewhere between +1500 and +2000 to win the Super Bowl

So, the franchise's odds would take a significant leap inside the division, and the club would also become much less of a long shot when it comes to doing damage deep in the playoffs.

Again, that's about as surprising as Russell Westbrook recording a triple double these days, but still, those numbers aren't just (hypothetically) bumping up a tad; they're reaching heights that this organization hasn't experienced in years and years and years.

Trading for Rodgers would be costly. He's not as lovable as Ryan Fitzpatrick. He may only have three or so top-notch seasons left before he begins to fade.

Yet, as PointsBet demonstrated in their answer, he'd also instantly transform Washington's prospects, and if you're against the team making a play for him, well, please stop being against the team making a play for him.

1. Rodgers isn’t coming here. The cap hit is astronomical and we’d need to sign him to an extension, even if THIS year’s hit isn’t massive.

2. GB will do whatever it can not to send him

in conference.

3. He wants to live on the left coast.

4. If he doesn’t want to be here, acquiring him

Is idiotic. Yes, he’d have to come because he doesn’t have a NTC. However, he can hold out. Now we gave up multiple assets for a guy who isn’t going to play. That’s not very intelligent.

IF he said he wants to come here and play here and will sign an extension this all changes, of course. But from what we know it’d be a major mistake. Yes, if he wants to come here we’re instant contenders. But that’s a huge if.

RE: Watson...

Settlement COULD mean things weren’t looking great (but we don’t know that at all, and things may have been going well and everyone just wants it to end). But regardless of the truth (either way, I will not call a person guilty without the burden of proof, nor will I say that the people affected by the alleged actions are dishonest... I don’t know what happened) there’s going to be a real tough stigma that follows him.

If we're going the route of pursuing one of the "big boys" I'd prefer it be Russell Wilson next year.  I don't think it's what RR will do but that would be my preference over Rodgers or Watson.

As a player, it’s Watson by a mile. He’s 25 and on a very team friendly contract. I doubt we look at him given the focus on culture. He is however in the AFC so they might ship him here, and you’d have to think he’d like our talent. And, the cost HAS to have gone down, right?

I don’t get why we’d even consider him as an option in the moment.

We COULD consider him once he’s cleared to play and settles his cases and doesn’t face criminal charges. My point is that I don’t think we WILL consider him.

Settlement doesn’t mean innocence. Just as the current situation doesn’t mean he’s guilty. There’s a stink surrounding him right now, though. Fair or not. Not saying to throw him out of the league... but to attempt to acquire him via the cost in assets and cap would be a ridiculous risk.
