I think Jumbo is talking about the Trump admin keeping PPE for themselves or for selected hospitals where someone with influence wants it to go. Or promoting drugs when they had no idea what would happen. Or steering federal relief money to Kushers buddies who proceeded to do nothing with it.

not surprised you jumped so quick and dumbly (though i did intend it to be a bit hyperbolic, i'm afraid it really isn't, darn it)


first, i haven't posted any blanket opposition to "opening up", i just emphasize serious and informed caution/slowness

 

per your claim, i run into assholes who dont' want to "cooperate" with social distancing even when it's easy for them to do so, so no, it's not just a matter of those who want to, can...i like that's it's even such a  casual matter of choice, as you and many others frame it...what if i say "....well, if i want to stop for you when you're in the crosswalk..."

 

and the more open everything gets, faster, earlier, your chances  of doing anything outside without increased resistance from "non social-distancers" become more shaky, and i expect in some places downright unlikely....it's becoming political even down to the parking lot level where people are making fun of people who wear a mask...guess who those people support....i'm just noting this reality and how it's counter to your blow-off comment, not saying that reality is a reason we'd keep everything shut down in extremes of degree or time

 

moving on....durr, like you have to tell me dem govs are opening up "too"...i posted an article on inslee's 4 phases this morning---i was specifically referencing trump and certain key cronies (though it would apply to so so many more gopers) per the tweets above, because there's no way he or they thought one damn minute about anything other than money and politics, and did/do not care about the people at risk any more than strategically necessary

 

i think a lot of your posts read clueless but not all, tk thinks you're a 12 year old posing as an adult, but you could really do with an upgrade

This is an analogy I've thought is somewhat apt as well. Yes, as long as you're of age you have the freedom to drink as much as you want. But the second you get behind the wheel you're endangering the lives of everyone else on the road.

 

Your right to go to a beach or party during a pandemic without any protective gear or social distancing (because DOWN WITH THE FASCISTS, AMIRITE?!?!) shouldn't infringe on other peoples' right to not get sick and possibly die from your stupid ass if they happen to pass you in the grocery store and you cough or sneeze near them.

Both of them are endangering other people, besides themselves. And both of them probably won't injure anybody, and if they do, it probably won't kill them. (And if they do injure/kill somebody, they might not know it.)

Today's numbers compared to last Tuesday:

 

Worldwide:

Cases ⬆️4,728 (+6.2%)
Deaths ⬇️ 901 (-13.5%)

 

USA
Cases ⬇️ 611 (-2.4%)
Deaths ⬇️ 120 (-4.9%)

 

In case you're wondering where those extra 4,728 cases came from, Russia reported 3,691 more cases than they did last Tuesday.

 

The worldwide trend continues of mild cases outpacing severe ones at a higher rate, with the result showing up in the death totals. Just makes the evidence of viral mutation that much more compelling.

They are only endangering people who choose to go out and not social distance, and in this example, decide to drink and drive too....

 

Like, if people decide once it is legal to go to the beach that they want to go to the beach, who else is it hurting besides people who want to go to the beach?

 

The first shut down gave governors enough time to increase of stock of ppe, ventilators, and beds. The forecasted shortages of beds and ventilators didn’t happen, because we were able to close everything just enough to lower the curve to a point where we had time to respond.


I thought the goal of shutting down was to slow the spread, not stop the spread. We have slowed the spread.  

 

Isnt opening up slowly is the next phase of the process of gaining herd immunity?

perhaps we could deal with that by requiring face coverings in public. Enforce it with fines...

Bad in a different way, less bad in another way. It's finding more efficient ways to spread, but deaths and critical cases have been steadily dropping for at least two weeks. This is normal behavior for viruses as they attempt to survive in a population that wants them eradicated.
