Standing during the Pledge or National Anthem

He got paid millions and doesn’t have to risk injury. And he raised awareness of social injustice in the NFL to the point where musical acts refused to play in the super bowl, to the point where the FREAKIN NFLs money was no good. That’s the story. Why take it to the courts where depending how how well jury selection goes you may lose your case. This is a win for Kaep in every way.

    The Jussie Smollet Fiasco

Morning talk shows.... maybe a racism in america special... who knows. It seems like it would just be easier to go to a trump rally than orchestrate this fiasco...

Budget Fight (Trump Mantle / Border Security Shutdown))

You would need the backing of the military and the vast majority of the state based election officials to actually pull that off... the military seems unimpressed by this declaration of emergency, with the secretary of defense basically saying “we haven’t even considered it, eg it’s not a priority for us” I don’t see trump having that kind of support...

At first they’ll come for your guns, then they’ll come for your airplanes and cars!!!11!! Airplaine rights sounds like an oxymoron... https://www.cnn.com/2019/02/16/politics/high-speed-trains-trump/index.html
  9. I suppose if you take your post, place it in a complete vacuum and totally omit the bigger picture, you are correct.
  10. That is the argument that is being made... it’s not a strawman... If that’s not the argument being made i’d appreciate an explanation of the nuance...
  11. Cheap labor from poor brown people OK, they are happy to work for practically nothing. Without low wage workers, we’d have lots of inflation. Cheap labor from US Citizens unnacceptable, we got to pay them a living wage. Paying them more won’t cause inflation. Come on guys, you don’t see the conflict in your argument???
  12. Funny that there are all these documentaries about the evil inside the criminal empire AKA Scientology but not so much on the catholic church.....

NY Times Op-Ed: Beware Rich People Who Say They Want to Change the World

Thats just your opinion. It’s really up for debate. Increases in productivity can increase gdp and decreases in productivity can decrease gdp, so it just depends on if economies for scale/scope increase or decrease productivity. They do increase productivity to a point, but at a certain scale and scope productivity decreases....

NY Times Op-Ed: Beware Rich People Who Say They Want to Change the World

And there is no conclusion because Economics is a new art, not a science. You havnt produced information that it is false. I pointed out already there are limited studies on the effect of breaking up large companies.... and you posted a study that was interesting but not too pertinent. I did find this article interesting https://www.fresheconomicthinking.com/2011/08/economies-of-scale-do-not-equal.html?m=1 I guess it just depends where we are at on the curve (and ultimately, having to choose, I would say we are closer to diseconomies I’d scale)
  16. Lol, we just had this conversation about minimum wage and you made the opposite argument. You literally said “prices aren’t determined by cost of production”.... I agree with that, which is why I said that the only people illegal immigration helps is the super rich.
  17. There goes the fallacy that illegal immigrants help the economy by keeping prices low...

Budget Fight (Trump Mantle / Border Security Shutdown))

Yeah, which is another reason it makes no since it declare a national emergency over the wall... by the time it is planned out, battled in court, ect, a new administration will probably be in office able to undo whatever decisions trump made, except for the precedent set...
  19. Uh huh... Ok... Indeed @PeterMP would have a heart attack seeing you all arguing that the cost of labor has anything to do with the price of goods... also, just because something is cheap doesn’t mean it is good... (just an effort to follow visionary’s lead and get the immigration talk in the right thread)

Trump and his cabinet/buffoonery- Get your bunkers ready!

Yes I agree. I agree, so why have a minimum wage for? The same arguments for the economic argument for minimum wage should also apply to which ever advantage illegal immigration offers in the form of low wage workers (or artificially increasing the cost of labor by creating barriers to entry into the labor pool)

Trump and his cabinet/buffoonery- Get your bunkers ready!

How? So, open borders then? They have no legal right to be here... My argument isn’t that they depress wages for native workers. But that there would be more higher paying jobs for natives because of increased competition for labor. (At a cost of potential less jobs overall)

Trump and his cabinet/buffoonery- Get your bunkers ready!

A market exists for child labor in China and Cambodia... a demand exists for cheap labor everywhere... so what? The people that benefit the most from undocumented workers are the super rich, who have what essentially amounts to slave labor. If those companies were forced to pay a fair wage to American workers, American workers would indeed work. good for depends on how you define good. I find find it hard to reconcile the position that a minimum age is needed yet we should be more supportive of illegal immigrants because they are willing to work for less than minimum wage. It’s funny to hear people argue that stopping illegal immigration will make food more expensive but fail to use the same logic when discussing minimum wage. The free market idea of letting low wage workers into the country does appeal to me, but only if it’s consistent and across the board, otherwise I think it’s bad for American middle class...

Trump and his cabinet/buffoonery- Get your bunkers ready!

Because it is irrelevant. They have no legal right to be here.
