The Alabama-based League of the South is launching a Russian-language section of its website designed to attract people interested in "Southern nationalism."

Classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, the neo-confederate organization made the announcement in the days after President Trump met with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The new page will reflect that the Russian people and Southerners are natural allies, according to a letter from league president Michael Hill posted to the group's website.

"As fellow Whites of northern European extraction, we come from the same general gene pool. As inheritors of the European cultural tradition, we share similar values, customs, and ways of life. And as Christians, we worship the same Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and our common faith binds us as brothers and sisters," Hill wrote

'Crying Nazi' pleads guilty to assault in Charlottesville; banned from Virginia

A self-professed white nationalist involved in violence at last year's rally in Charlottesville, Virginia pleaded guilty to assault and battery Friday, prosecutors said.

Christopher Cantwell was arrested after August's "Unite the Right" rally. Cantwell, who was featured in a Vice News documentary about the demonstrations, became known as the "crying Nazi" after posting an emotional video when an warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Friday, he pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and battery stemming from his dispersal of pepper spray near the University of Virginia rotunda on Aug. 11, the Albemarle Commonwealth's Attorney's Office said in a statement.

The 37-year-old from Keene, New Hampshire, was sentenced to two concurrent terms of 12 months, with all but seven months suspended, freeing him from detention. However, he was required to leave Virginia within eight hours and not return for five years.

He was also fined $250 after pleading guilty to violating the terms of his bond by discussing his victims on social media, according to the statement.

An interesting trend of late is the alt-right trying to get high profile people in trouble with past work.  James Gunn being fired from GotG3 after some old tweets were brought up by far righty Mike Cernovich.  Dan Harmon, of Rick and Morty fame, has avoided being fired for an old 2009 pilot that has been deemed offensive, but he has left twitter, after 4chan dug up the pilot and then spread it to r/The_Donald and got a signal boost from Mike Cernovich.

For a group so obsessed with saying everything is too PC nowadays, they have had no problem weaponizing it for their own fun and profit.

This is a Jihad to some on the right. Pretending it's about "eliminating double standards" while really just being about revenge-by-proxy. They're mad that they can't outright disrespect minorities, homosexuals, etc. anymore without consequence, so they're playing games like this. Some direct quotes I've seen from people who think like this:

This one is in response to James Gunn saying that Roseanne can say whatever she wants, but ABC can still cancel her show as a business decision.

I had guessed earlier that, having a history of and appreciation for shock humor, James Gunn wouldn't be the type to support Outrage Firings over other people's tweets. It would be hypocritical and suicidal to do that. Well, he's just another liberal who had this baggage in his past but figured The Rules Don't Apply to Liberals. Enjoy your early retirement, asshole

And of course, just some of the mask slipping a little on their true intentions:

Couldn't help but notice a lot of stuff on the internet this week about this patriot prayer rally in Portland. This jackass senatorial candidate in Washington has organized it in Oregon. I think the concealed carry laws is one reason why.

I think you may be misreading that. No doubt there are those like you describe. But there are many who are tired of a double standard.

I think there's been a misinterpretation, in general, of people's political motives that's increased the last couple of years. And to get back to some kind of normalcy, it's important to understand what drives opinions.
