Godzilla Singular Point on Netflix is RIDICULOUSLY good. The story is a very complex science fiction, not just some big monster bust-up. It is a total mind trip of an idea, and very tightly written.. as with a lot of Anime you have to put up with some insufferable cutesy crap, but pay attention. It uses several different anime styles, each episode is on a half hour, and the monster scenes are AWESOME.

Repeat: AWESOME. They are large parts of each episode and it uses a LOT of them from the Godzilla canon.

Yes, I am a total geek for this stuff, but reading thru here and the Marvel thread so are a bunch of you.
I give it a SOLID 4.5 Chimps out of Five.

This has the potential to be a good series. Oh, and you bourbon drinkers, have a hanky handy.**

Inside the Great Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon Heist

BACK IN 2013, authorities in Frankfort, Kentucky, discovered that the Buffalo Trace Distillery was bleeding bottles of Pappy Van Winkle. More than 200 bottles of the super-small batch brown were missing, and it attracted international attention because Pappy Van Winkle (which bottles a mere seven to eight thousand cases of its ultra-premium bourbon, about one-thousandth of the output of Jim Beam) is the sort of thing that millionaires will fight each other for, because people who can buy anything go crazy when they can’t buy something.

The caper will be the subject of a new Netflix documentary, premiering July 14, called Heist. The six-episode true crime series chronicles three separate stories—one involving Vegas casino cash and another on the Miami airport—but the one we’re most intrigued by revolves around a Kentucky dad accused of one of the biggest bourbon burglaries in history.

**Thrillist site is pretty cool. Has lots of happenings in & around DC & other cities. Wish they had more for Richmond but still a cool site.

Whoever it was that brought up Invincible a while back wasn’t lying. It does start a little slow, but once it gets going, it’s damn good. To some degree it kind of turns the genre on it’s head and it’s mostly done without the one-liners that I’ve grown to dislike in these things.

I’ve watched a little bit of Fresh, Fried and Crispy but I can’t get past thinking that this guy isn’t going to be around long. Sorry for going dark, but seriously. Dude, eat a salad once in a while.😬

Finale of Bosch was good. Power corrupts. I'm sorry to see it end.

They just started filming the untitled Bosch Private Investigator series. Bosch, Maddie, and Honey.

Mare of Easttown on HBO, pretty good short season of your typical murder/drama/suspense show. The acting was great, Kate Winslet still got it (not that she ever lost it really)

“Do I **** like a grandma?” was the best line imo.  I liked this show more than I thought I would.  Kate is fantastic.

Yeah, before I finished the final season, I'd accidentally seen that there was a Bosch spinoff.  I would like a return of Crate and Barrel.  Wouldn't be the same without those wise guys.

I finally finished White Collar. I thought I knew exactly how it would end, then it caught me by surprise and had me dejected for a while, and ended with it being exactly as I had originally expected.

That and Mentalist go on my top shelf of favorite shows. I hope I can find another like them, classy people solving crimes in unorthodox ways.

I have another season of Blacklist in front of me, but I'm not sure I can force myself to watch it. Maybe I'll give Murdoch Mysteries a showing instead.

SYFY started a new show called SurrealEstate. A paranormal show set in real estate. The real estate agents take on haunted house basically and get rid of what’s haunting the house; to sell it.

Airs at 10pm on SyFy. Also airs on USA. Saw the first two episodes; pretty good. A little different.

Not sure if this is supposed to be a "reality" show or not.

Have you seen Burn Notice (on Amazon now)? If not you will love it then.

Any seen Ghosts on BBC? (also on HBO) such a hilarious show, about ghosts that don’t make it to heaven so they live in an abandoned house. A couple inherit said house and the ghosts try to scare them off, don’t want to give too much away but it’s just great

Elementary would also be a suggestion.  Johnny Lee Miller's take on Sherlock being a recovering heroin user was solid and the supporting cast is fantastic.

Dr Death on Peacack has been pretty good so far. I’ve got about a show & a half left so I’m not sure if it’s a limited series or if it’ll have a Season 2.

Speaking of Peacack, Mr Mercedes is awesome.

Never Have I Ever on Netflix is ****ing hysterical and the 2nd season just came out.  It's a teenager/coming of age type of story, I think I suggested it in this thread last year.  It's random, but it's narrated by John McEnroe who's also hilarious.

Although, I will say by the end of Season 2 I got tired of seeing the main character constantly ****ing up.  Still funny stuff though.

The Heist mini-documentaries on Netflix are pretty good, too.

I have been wanting to check out Yasuke for the past several months. I finally got a chance to watch the first couple of episodes and it's looking to be pretty good. I was afraid they'd do almost a reboot of Afro Samurai and fortunately, that doesn't appear to be the case at all. On another note, cutting the cord has brought yet another benefit. After I hooked up the OTA antenna, I discovered that there's a Japanese channel. So where it used to be the occasional treat that would drop into my lap, I'm now getting tons of great Sumo action.

Finally, I ended up watching an episode of Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix yesterday. It wasn't long into it before I realized just how much the loss of Anthony Bourdain has brought the genre down. Bourdain had a way of making you feel you scored a vicarious visit someplace great whereas the best Phil has to offer is dad jokes and making funny faces. Dude makes Jackass and AFV look like top tier entertainment. If you haven't watched any of it, count yourself lucky. Use that time to instead try to figure out who he paid off or has naked pictures of.
