Anyone else watching Y: The Last Man on Hulu?  Just started it.  Kinda meh so far.

I agree. I watched the first two episodes there are too many stories going around the main one. I hope the next episodes will focus more on the leading character, and then I will decide if I keep on watching it or not.

I agree.  I’ve watched the first three.  I was hoping it was only like that for character development.  We’ll see how it goes forward.

Ted Lasso Season 2 is....a let down after a great Season 1. It feels like a show that doesn't know what it wants to be.

damn, couldn’t disagree more. I think it’s fantastic. The last Beard episode was really weird but a good insight into the toxicity of his relationship, lifestyle, and mental well-being that we’ve only gotten hints of previously. It also was jam packed with funny movie references and had the same sweet moment when he sends the trio to the field knowing what it would mean to them.

I think the writing is every bit as brilliant this season as last and I’ve enjoyed seeing the characters continue to develop and get out of their comfort zone as the layers are peeled back.

also most likely a palette cleanser for the last few episodes

I will add the Beard episode and the Christmas episode are my two least favorite episodes of the show. They are both the bonus episodes from this season after Apple gave them two extra episodes. So that makes sense they did things that were out of the typical tone of the show and just focused on character development that didn’t disrupt the flow or arc of the rest of the season that had been filmed

My initial thought on it was I didn't know how bad we needed a Beard centric episode until it was over.  ****ing loved it. And then the next day at 10x speed & the Benny Hill theme film study was a perfect way to swing it back on track.

yeah I enjoyed it a lot despite it being my least favorite episode which speaks to the quality of the rest of the series. The two bonus episodes really stretch the suspension of disbelief though which is mostly what knocked them down a notch in my book what with Santa Claus showing up in the Christmas episode and and Beard being Batman getting on the bus, jumping off the building and then somehow too conveniently running into Jamie’s dad and then being saved by Roid Kent.

Im really happy we got a Beard episode though being a major character and getting only breadcrumbs here and there. He was a lot of fun to hang with especially with the boys being included too. I remember one comment maybe in season 1 where Ted asks him what time he got home the previous night and Beard says “I didn’t” which has made me curious what the hell that dude gets up to. I also feel like he is growing increasingly frustrated with Ted and just losing in general and the way Ted laughs it off. It bothers Beard and I think the initial TV conversation he hears in his apartment about being right but being Ted’s lackey will manifest at some point in the future. This show is all about the personal relationships we have with one another and the ways that they are both healthy and unhealthy, and the effects of each so that seems like a layer they will peel back and dissect eventually. To that extent this was a pretty dark examination of Beard’s life and the toxic relationship he has with Jane. It’s telling that it sets up their reunion st the end as a happy moment for Beard but for the audience it was awful because we know how bad she is for him. Either the sports therapist whose name escapes me or the diamond dogs will have to level with him at some point so he can break free

That link goes to 3 months for $3.00.

I did the 3 for 3 but Googled it later & it was 6 for $20 after I signed out. Either one is a pretty good deal though

EDIT

Just looked at my billing for it. It's actually $3 a month for 3 months

I've been checking out Reservation Dogs. A Native American dark comedy set in Oklahoma, written by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi. It is on FX on Hulu, season 1 is only 8 episodes, but has been given the go ahead for season 2.

I really liked it.  It's high quality.  It's not super original in style, but it's totally original in setting and production.  Like Destino said, there just isn't much of a first nations perspective in film/tv media, and it is fascinating for providing that.  And I read that it's got a lot of authentic touches that only a Native American production crew would know to do, like the fear of the owl in episode three and the censoring of it's eyes as if it were a penis.  Apparently Native Americans are repulsed by owls and view them as harbingers of death.  Who knew?

It's charmingly sincere, and parts of it are genuinely funny.  Like their parody of the spirit guide trope.  Cracks me up when the guy starts compulsively war crying.  I'm digging this show and can't wait to finish it.

Taika Waititi has been killing it since 2014.  What We Do in the Shadows is still awesome too.  I'm enjoying the expansion of Nandor's and Nadja's and Guillermo's plotlines, but I'm hoping we get more Laszlo soon.  He's been kind of adrift and hanging out on the backburner this season.  Don't get me wrong, his deep dive into horrific antique vampire pornography has been hilarious, but I want to see him get out and do some stuff soon.

I like it but only in doses. I get it's a Michael Connelly character so you're trying to stay true to the source material, but the actor's emotional range seems to be limited to whatever half-hearted scowl he deems necessary for the moment.

He's right on the edge of being a Mary Sue.  But he ****s up enough and is real enough that he isn't, and Eric Overmyer is just too skilled a craftsman not to make the world and the stories real.

Harry is just exceptional without it being unbelievable.  But he would be so insufferable in the hands of lesser writers and a lesser actor.

Finished it  up this morning. I really enjoyed the show. The side characters are great. Sad that it is only 8 episodes, but season 2 is set to be 10.

There was a 2 man stand up show awhile back on Netflix that Martin & Short did. Excellent stuff if you haven't seen it.

It's still on Netflix :D
