It’s so funny how people think the D is so fragile that it shouldn’t be blamed bc well they didn’t allow a TD on a few first quarter drives before it all fell apart, they did their job!!1!

We’ve gotten so used to horrifically bad defense on this team that a mere few drives of not allowing a TD seems like an anomaly lol, as if the vast majority of defenses don’t have stretches like that every single week. It doesn’t excuse bad play the rest of the game no matter how bad the offense is also playing (and it is BAD today, yes). An actual GOOD defense can sustain pretty good play for entire halves—hell entire games!—even if they’re paired with an offense going through a rough spell. The number of people here who rush to make excuses for the defense after they get a few early game stops just because the offense didn’t do anything is just astounding to me. The mark of a defense playing well is, well….playing well. Not instantly folding because the offense does nothing.

Not to mention time of possession in the first half was damn near identical.

If these same passes were called in the first half they would have had a chance to go for bigger yards because the Eagles were determined not to get beat over the top.  That first play to Curtis Samuel was a good example, gets a ton of yards because it was a play designed to actually attack what the Eagles D was doing.  Now it is late in the game, the Eagles D has just crept up in the shorter and intermediate areas of the field so Turner is calling plays that just go right into where the defenders are.  This feels like amateur hour.
