It has nothing to do with hate.

We are just sick of them. Who wants to see ANOTHER patriots super bowl?  :chair:

But  I will pull (not cheer) for them to beat the eagles.

I mean I get wanting to see another team in it, but at the end of the day don't we want the best teams competing for and winning Super Bowls? Would you rather see the Titans play the Rams or some non sense?

I respect greatness and appreciate it.

Yeay those SB victories..... those aren’t us lately if you didn’t notice.  Please we are not the toughest. One team basically decimated our entire division this year. Maybe years ago but division as a whole we’re average at best lately.

I didn't mean this year.  I meant the NFC East is the best division EVER in the modern NFL.  Here are some stats I pulled from an article.

The Dallas Cowboys, Washington, Redskins, New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles blow the rest of the league away with an insane 12 Super Bowl victories and 20 appearances. In other words, an NFC East team has participated in 41 percent of all the Super Bowls ever held.

Who says it would be  "nonsense"? Who knows how good a super bowl it would be.

If the patriots go in there and destroy the eagles (or vice versa), is that a good super bowl? Or just a boring blow-out?

The ability or history of a team doesn't decide whether the super bowl would be any good or not.  It just depends on how the game goes.

The best Super Bowls are when the best teams play(2013 Denver/Seattle being the exception).

Not always. :P

When the Redskins and Bills played in SB 26, they were easily considered the two best teams in the NFL that season. No other teams came close.

It wasn't even a contest. The Redskins dominated that game, and were up 37-10 in the 4th quarter (they were up 24-0 at one time). The Bills added a couple of TDs in garbage time, but the game was never really close.

So sometimes the two best teams don't always give you the best game. Meanwhile, the giants beat the patriots one year in the super bowl when they, I believe, were just a 9-7 wildcard. Not considered one of the best teams that year. That was a thrilling super bowl.

To me, it's just the circumstances of the game that decide whether a super bowl is great or not.

Think the Super Bowls over the past 20 years, which can be considered when the salary cap era has been in full effect, have been relatively close, whereas in the pre-salary cap, they were largely blowouts.

There are different ways to look at "who is the best division?"  The Pats are going to their 8th Super Bowl in 17 seasons, but I don't think you would find many folks who would claim the AFC East has been the best division over that span.

If you pick the 16 seasons we've had since the league went to the four divisions per conference format, the NFC East has provided four representatives to the SB.....average, but behind the South and West, which both have provided five.  The NFC East has provided the most wild card teams over that stretch, with 10 out of a possible 32. However, in the past eight seasons (2010-17), the only wild card team to come out of the NFC East was the Giants in 2016.

Yes, I would rather see the Titans and the Rams and frankly, any Super Bowl that doesn't have the Skins I'd rather see the sixth seed vs the sixth seed

**** no nobody wants to see the Patriots in the Super Bowl again take a count Across the Nation and see who would have rather seen the Jaguars and Vikings or even the Jaguars and Eagles

I would have taken the Bangles and the Vikings or Chiefs and Rams or Titans and Giants or dolphins and Redskins or I can go on and on in at least the last eight Super Bowls...

Was curious about the "best division" question and decided to look at combined records since they went to the four-division format per conference in 2002. Thought it'd also be interesting to break it into eight-year chunks:

2002-2009: NFCE: 276-235-1, 9 wild cards, 2 SB       AFCE: 269-243, 3 wild cards,3 SB

                   NFCN: 236-276, 2 wild cards, 1 SB          AFCN: 254-256-2, 4 wild cards, 2 SB

                   NFCS: 261-250-1, 3 wild cards, 3 SB       AFCS: 284-228, 6 wild cards, 2 SB

                   NFCW: 216-296, 2 wild cards, 2 SB         AFCW: 251-261, 3 wild cards, 1 SB

Best Combined Division Record: 42-22 (AFCS, 2007) Worst Combined Division Record: 22-42 (NFCW, 2008)

2010-2017: NFCE: 252-259-1, 1 wild card, 2 SB         AFCE: 272-240, 3 wild cards, 4 SB

                   NFCN: 265-246-1, 6 wild cards, 1 SB       AFCN: 257-253-2, 7 wild cards, 2 SB

                   NFCS: 262-249-1, 5 wild cards, 2 SB        AFCS: 217-295, 2 wild cards, 0 SB

                   NFCW: 260-250-2, 4 wild cards, 3 SB       AFCW: 260-252, 4 wild cards, 2 SB

Best Combined Division Record: 42-22 (NFCW, 2013) Worst Combined Division Record: 22-41-1 (NFCS, 2014)

Total:          NFCE: 528-494-2, 10 wild cards, 4 SB      AFCE: 541-483, 6 wild cards, 7 SB

                   NFCN: 501-522-1, 8 wild cards, 2 SB        AFCN: 511-509-4, 11 wild cards, 4 SB

                   NFCS: 523-499-2, 8 wild cards, 5 SB        AFCS: 501-523, 8 wild cards, 2 SB

                   NFCW: 476-546-2, 6 wild cards, 5 SB       AFCW: 511-513, 7 wild cards, 3 SB

If the Rams and Titans earned their way to the SB then yes, I would very much want to see it. I am not sure why that would be "nonsense". Two teams winning 3 games, at least 2 on the road if not all 3 to make it to the SB? And at that point, they are the two best teams in football. Again, it was not given to them. They earned their way there the hard way.

Why have playoffs at all? Just put them in a bracket and tell everyone but the top two to go home. Sorry, I am usually with you but you have lost me on this one completely.

I won't ever root for the Patriots. They're cheaters and thugs. They classlessly run up the score on other teams, including Joe Gibbs. They are also not bashful about letting everyone know that they have some right to do as they please, because they are above sportsmanship, and above the rules.

I don't root for them because of who they are and what they do and not the jerseys they wear. I don't apologize for that and never will.

And I was able to name every Redskin when I was 4 and there's not been a day when I wasn't a fan. If you want to question my fandom, I will invite you to do something painful, pornographic and probably illegal in Mississippi.

Only illegal in Mississippi?  Couldn’t be that bad then....

Didn't you mean probably "legal" in Mississippi vs. illegal everywhere else?

I will never understand the you are or are not a true fan narrative for whatever reason - least of which based on the decision to root for one non-Redskins team vs. another. We are all fans or why would we put ourselves this torture every year and be willing to engage in hours of mostly futile discussion! Not to mention, let's face it, the other 31 teams are just there for the Redskins to have someone to play, right?

While I could never root for philly, no way no how as their fans are the most classless group of animals ever. I would not call someone else not a true fan if they decided they hated NE more! Just not following that logic. Not to mention i have me some good old fashion hatred of NE myself - just not quite as much as I hate philly. 3-0 is just too much fun to give it up!

Easy for me. Pats were mom's team. I remember when they had one good player, John Hannah. Man they were awful for years and years. Cool unis though. Plus, the freaking Eagles? Ain't no way, ever. No.

I can't really hate the Patriots as a whole. Individual parts of the machine are absolutely loathsome, mind you but you could say that about any great dynasty. If the internet were around in the 1960s, I'm sure sports message boards would have been filled with "I hate Vince Lombardi and his stupid face" threads.

It's pretty amazing they've been able to do what they've done in this era, anyway. I mean, you can say all you want about cheating and foul play but the Raiders were doing that 40+ years ago (this was the team that had two rules: cheating is encouraged and when in doubt, see rule number one) and never had the kind of success the Patriots had. As @hail2skins mentioned, this is their 8th trip to the Super Bowl in less than 2 decades. How many times did the Raiders go to The Show during their reign of terror between the late 1960s and the mid 1980s? 4.
