It really is incredible to me how so many white people, particularly white females, still went out and voted for this douche.

But that's what Repubs do. Get people to somehow vote against their interests.

You should see the split for evangelicals vs. non-evangelicals.

Over three fourths of white evangelical Christian women voted for Moore.   Only one fourth of white women who are not evangelical Christians voted for Moore.

That split is crazy.

That’s a fact.

Somehow Republicans can get Christians (who every week take time to recommit their lives to a life of faith defined by love, grace, mercy, forgiveness, giving, compassion, selflessness, and a life of righteousness while rejecting evil) to vote for, defend and ardently support a system predicated on self interest, philosophies that are by definition opposed to their religion of altruism. They get poor Appalachian families to embrace industries that destroy families, pollute their environment, and destroy their mountains. Those same people who rely on government assistance for food and medical, vote for politicians who commit themselves to cutting “entitlements”. Women vote for a self admitted sexist pig who brags about sexually abusing women.

meanwhile the black evangelicals were not overly concerned with him and young girls.

Lue said he thinks the turnout still would have been very high among black voters even without the explosion of controversy after The Washington Post reported that Moore was accused of making sexual advances toward several teenage girls when he was in his 30s.

“African American women, even though they were sympathetic, they understood their issues are different from their white counterparts. As awful as those allegations were, African American women are dealing with domestic violence on a daily basis,” he said.

The Washington Post’s Eugene Scott this week reported from Alabama on black voters, who told him they were primarily motivated by making sure someone who reminded them of President Trump didn’t win:

“But what these black voters knew was that Moore had adopted Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan — and for residents of a state that has deep-rooted racial tensions running through its veins, some moments of America’s past are not among the state’s finest moments.”

Just now, Larry said:

Look, everybody!  Twa found some people who were gonna vote against Moore even if he wasn't a child molester.

I found it interesting the accusations seemed to mainly influence white non evangelicals votes.

The ones who were perfectly willing to ignore all of his other faults.

Well in fairness, he was running against a guy who prosecuted their fellow KKK members. Dating teenagers is one thing, but not knowing to keep them coloured folk in their place is the first step to sharia law...

Alabama and Virginia demonstrate that Dems do not need the white working class in '18 to make big gains in the mid terms.

Focus on minorities and educated whites in the suburbs and Dems will see victories all over the map.

Trying to win the white working class Trump voter is a foolish waste of time. They are irrelevant

Get out of the vote efforts should be mobilized through black churches, latino and asian organizations and focused on educated suburban whites and young people. That is how Dems win

evangelical women tend to vote for whoever their husband supports. Out of hundreds I know, I could only name 4-5 who ever talk about politics. Most hate it, like my wife (who is a college grad and teacher).

Roy Moore turns recount into religious crusade: ‘Immorality sweeps over the land’

Quote

A day after losing the Senate race in Alabama to Democrat Doug Jones, Roy Moore has issued a new statement refusing to concede the election until completion of the final count. But it wasn’t your typical post-election statement.

It was a four-minute fire-and-brimstone video about abortion, same-sex marriage, school prayer, sodomy and “the right of a man to claim to be a woman and vice versa.”

“We are indeed in a struggle to preserve our republic, our civilization and our religion and to set free a suffering humanity,” Moore said. “Today, we no longer recognize the universal truth that God is the author of our life and liberty. Abortion, sodomy and materialism have taken the place of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
