Dukes and Skins

Kiper has Skins taking Hooker at #17 ... Reddick at #11 and Allen at #9 again ... Kiper also has Cook and Watt out of the 1st round ... and has Davis/Foster going #21 and #22

Just looked at it. I wish I trusted Kiper's predictions more.  It's now three Kiper mocks if I recall where Hooker goes to us at #17 including one of his first mocks.  If Hooker lands at #17, I'd be beyond ecstatic.  I would take the dude if I had a top 5 pick let alone dropping to #17.  Assuming his medicals check out.

What's with this?

The Browns (admittedly, they are still the Browns) couldn't be so stupid as to pass up on a DeMarcus Ware top echelon calibre (IMHO) edge rush talent could they?

Hail.

Not only that but passing him up for the likes of Trubisky who has such a small sample of experience to look at.  Browns gonna Brown I guess.

1st  Allen, Foster, or Reddick whom ever slides.

2nd  = Mixon

3rd  = Tomlinson

I know Im dreaming... but Id sure like to see the first 3 rounds go this way.

If Allen fell to #17, he's more of a 5/3 technique DL ... it MIGHT prevent us from drafting Tomlinson in the 3rd, even though he's more of a 3/1 tech ... do they overlap enough to make that redundant? I don't know ... I'd love to have both though!

Now, if you could hit those 2nd and 3rd round picks with a Reddick in the 1st ... assuming Allen isn't there ... yes please.

Would need to still address EDGE, but maybe you can grab a guy that falls in the 4th. Tim Williams might fall ... lot of people think he's not intelligent enough ... but we'll see how far that drops him ...

In an ideal world, if you drafted Allen AND Tomlinson, I think Tomlinson plays Nose and Allen is your END ... would slide one of the Mcs from FA to a rotational piece, but that would be such a nice DL going forward. It would also create strong rotations across the board in the front 7

GHH, I forgot about McKinley when I did my wish list.  Maybe that's not a good sign, but I'm with you on him.  He's raw as Hell but he is just loaded with natural talent and upside.  If someone could teach him what the heck to do with his hands then he could be the best pure edge rusher in the class.  I'm on board with him at 17.

Give me one of the Irish guys (McCaffrey, McDowell, McKinley) and I'll be happy.

The issue to me is before this week he was rated as a mid to low 2d suddenly he is mid 1st. Teams will throw out smoke screens to get other teams to blow their picks with reaches. Remember Betts rated as a 5th round - Skins took him in the 2d turned out he really was a 5th rounder.

yeah and then fumbled here in st louis on christmas eve as he was running free to the endzone to seal the game - we lost. I hate him for life

Although I see a bunch of we need an edge rusher, I'd prioritize our run defense over pass rush. I would not be upset with Tomlinson in the 2nd. Don't think he lasts to our 3rd Rd pick..

Run defense is our Achilles heel and should be our number 1 priority on whatever we do on the defensive side of the ball.

If Allen ot Hooker falls to us we better sprint to the podium.

If Allen somehow makes it to us we are going to be having a lot of people calling us. Take the calls, we are more than 1 DL away from being a good defense.

Think we can all agree we have major needs at the DL, however having Brown as a LB and hopefully we can grab another starting LB in this draft is going to make a major difference. Our LBs missed so many tackles last year its not even funny.

I think there is a chance he is there for our 3rd pick.  He is projected by several sources (granted that doesn't mean a whole lot) as a 3rd or 4th round pick.

I agree with you our run defense is a major weakness... Really hoping Allen (or Foster) slides to us at 17 for this reason.  Then BPA with the 2nd (Mixon?) and another big guy like Tomlinson or Watkins on defense with the 3rd.  Maybe not likely but what a rotation that would provide.

Come on Allen SLIDE!

Tomlinson would help the run for sure. I think that's mainly why folks should not be in a 1st round DL or bust mindset. I think majority on here are in the know enough to not freak out, but I could see the more casual fan freak out if we don't go DL in the 1st or 2nd.

As someone stated earlier ... if we got Reddick, Foster or Davis at #17 ... then took Mixon at #49 ... we could still land Tomlinson in the 3rd who could play both Nose and End in the base 34 ... and our defensive line would be substantially improved this off-season without a major FA or 1st or 2nd round DL

John Keim was just asked on 980 what players he's hearing they are interested in.  His answer:

Jonathan Allen on the off chance he falls

Hasson Reddick

Reuben Foster

Charles Harris

Dalvin Cook

He said if Hooker drops, they are likely tempted.  He didn't suggest that he knows their board but those are the players he's heard.  He didn't get into McCaffrey but recall other beat reporters say they like him.  But he's unlikely to fall.

Keim ironically just talking about it.  He said they want run defense but pass rush to them is more important in the context of the draft.

Football players...meaning, guys I've seen play and listened to who I know are 'football players'-

Adoree Jackson

Reuben Foster

Jabrill Peppers

OJ Howard

Jarrad Davis

Jamal Adams

Forrest Lamp

Budda Baker

I'd be thrilled to have any of these guys. Unfortunately, we are gonna end up with TJ Watt

You're absolutely lost if you'd prefer to have a return specialist and a running back who pretend to play defense over Watt. And the fact that you didn't include Watt in your "football player" category is about as misinformed as you can be.

You know that bad joke I made about Lamp?

Forrest Lamp might be a pretty good NFL guard. He’s definitely a marketing genius.

The Western Kentucky offensive lineman, who could be a first-round pick tonight, has signed an endorsement deal with Los Angeles-based lighting retailer Lamps Plus.

My dream scenario is if Allen is at #6, we trade our #17 overall, our early 4th rounder and 3rd round next year to the Jets, for the 6th pick, and Sheldon Richardson. Take Allen at #6 and you have solved your defensive line problem in one swoop.

We still wouldn't have a NT, but this would vastly improve the talent. My worry is that the FO is content with our DL after our the big blockbuster signings of McGee/McClain and they won't look to improve it like every Redskins fan know is needed.

We don't play base 3-4 enough to need a "true" NT. Phil Taylor could possibly be the NT in the small % we are in true 3-4

Someone needs to explain the fascination with Charles Harris?     Undersized...slow...doesn't have many pass rush moves...sucks against the run.

The best thing I heard is that he has a good first step...that's great...but nowhere near enough to be a 1st round pick.

He has a cool nickname?

Sporting news rumors.  Who knows if true but if it is:

They are on board with Charles Harris being hot on the radar (Grant Paulsen just said he's heard the same from people he knows)

They also really like Peppers (some other draft geek said the same awhile back, forgot whom), Cook and Barnett

Dalvin Cook is #1 on their board.

They really like Trubisky (hopefully that doesn't mean anything)

http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/news/nfl-draft-rumors-news-updates-browns-49ers-bears-eagles-steelers-cowboys/4jla52tbm7ws1met4algvpiw9

Last note on Trubisky: The Washington Redskins have him graded as a top-10 talent in this class, one of just a few top-10 grades they have on prospects, and teams don’t throw those out often. If Washington has Trubisky graded so high and he’s available when San Francisco is on the clock, would the Redskins trade Kirk Cousins for the No. 2 pick?

— Only a few picks were considered at or near “consensus” around the league. NFL teams are expecting a highly unpredictable first round.

— Among picks in my final mock draft, I’m most confident in Solomon Thomas to the Bears at No. 3, Malik Hooker to the Chargers at No. 7 (though the Jets like him, as well), Marlon Humphrey to the Saints at No. 11, Cam Robinson to the Ravens at No. 16, Derek Barnett to the Redskins at No. 17 (unless Charles Harris is there), Dalvin Cook to the Bucs at No. 19 (or if they move down a few spots), and Adoree' Jackson to the Cowboys at No. 28.

— The Tennessee Titans want to move down from No. 5, but they certainly don’t need to. Marshon Lattimore, O.J. Howard and Mike Williams are the options I’ve reported previously. They want to add a safety, receiver and cornerback early in this draft, but they’re in no rush to do so.

— Teams that want to move up in the top 10 want to do so for Christian McCaffrey. I slotted him to the Philadelphia Eagles at 14, with the idea that they might need to move up. He’s the player they want and have wanted for much of the draft process. I think there's a greater than 50/50 chance McCaffrey goes to the Eagles, despite his recent buzz.

The Buccaneers have been looking to trade out because they know Dalvin Cook has no suitors between No. 19 and No. 28. The Packers at No. 29 may be in play if he’s there. Cook also has interest from the Eagles, and he’s the No. 1-rated running back for the Redskins. If the Bucs do trade down, the Giants want to insure themselves of a top three offensive tackle, and the Seahawks want to go offensive line in Round 1. The Broncos almost surely will go offensive line at No. 20 unless none of the top four are there.

— The Redskins will take Charles Harris is he’s available at No. 17 ... if they stick to their draft board. If he’s gone (as they expect), Jabrill Peppers and Dalvin Cook are both highly ranked and could be the options. I landed on Derek Barnett in my final mock draft, a player that have graded very similarly, fits their prototype at the position and can fill the starting spot Trent Murphy vacates for the first four games this year (before replacing him fully).

It's settled. Hooker please. (Malik that is).

Not sure how I will be able to justify buying a "Hooker" jersey for my wife and daughter.

He would be the guy along with Cravens that can do some damage for years in that secondary.

Na perfect Christmas present for the mother-in-law, not for your own girls.
