Don't the big companies sell in every state? And wouldn't the ability to purchase insurance across state lines help? Let's say you live in NY and there's a really good nationwide policy you can get in California, you should be able to buy it.

Someone needs to explain to me why insurance companies should cover pre-existing conditions? 1) We need a mandate (not government run healthcare) 2) We need as many choices/competition as possible...across state lines, etc.. 3) The government pays for the poor, elderly and people with pre-existing conditions. Let's start with these 3 things.

If there was a way to have universal coverage and still have excellent care; without increasing taxes even more, I'd be fine with it. You would have to cut Government spending in just about every other area, I would think. Don't think it's possible.

You need to have a real mandate...not one that makes people rather pay a penalty then buy healthcare.

It's just a bad idea....everyone will have care, but it won't be good care....and you'll be waiting months to see a Dr....and you'll be paying even more taxes.....if you think the evil rich people are going to fund it, you're kidding yourself To answer your question....If you only had one group called "citizens", I don't think one private insurance company could handle 300 million people.

Ha...just turned on CNN and Rand Paul is talking about Group insurance...clearly reading my post from a few hours ago. I think his point was to replace the individual market with group insurance.....makes sense to me.

Are there more groups they can add? Maybe create some new ones?

I'm a Republican and believe there should be a mandate...never understood the argument against one.....that does not mean single payer or government run care. I also don't believe the private insurance should cover pre-existing conditions......that's where the government comes in...the sick and elderly should be covered by the government....and having a mandate should help with that......we also need tort reform and the ability to buy across state lines.....create more competition. I'm not sure this exists now, but what about creating an association for groups of people? for example, construction workers association; there must be millions of construction workers....you get all these insurance companies to bid to get them as a client.....I'm not sure if Unions already have this? But there must be groups of people that aren't in Unions that can pool together

Wow...you got me....ridiculous. Yes, I'm a Republican...no I'm not a climate change denier....No, I don't trust Russia or China... I asked questions about China/Russia, but no matter the answer, I don't trust them....on any issue.
