I’m not a Jason Wright fan at all but he didn’t screw this up. You option to buy the land so the price doesn’t go up when you go through negotiations and downselect a location. They should do it for the other locations as well.
 

It’s similar to optioning a script in hollywood. You pay for the rights for a certain period and if you decide to make the movie you pay the agreed upon price. In this case if they option 3 locations they have a set price with uncertainty locked in. Then when they choose the final location there is a prenegotiated cost for the land. The current land owner gets paid the option fee and could ultimately end up selling the land at the agreed upon price.

I’ve read nothing today that indicates to me I should change my belief the next stadium will be right next to the old one.

 

I still believe 100% the next stadium will be at the Fed Ex Field site.

No.

 

I think it’s actually a shrewd move to try and get MD and DC back to the table.  
 

And probably a show of good will to Youngkin.

 

 If MD wants the stadium, now they have an actual reason to make some type of an offer.

 

They know they are in a weak negotiating position, so getting the rights to the land at least makes DC and MD consider if they want to get back into the game.

 

If they don’t, the Commanders have an agreement  for the land. 
 

If they get a better offer, they’ve lost nothing.

I’ll also say this about the location.  As somebody who lives in western Fairfax County, this isn’t that bad for me.  I hope they improve the infrastructure getting to Woodbridge.  But it’s closer to me than Landover, and I’ve been driving to that dump for 25 years.  
 

60% of season ticket holders live in VA, according to a report I saw somewhere.  (Granted, that’s like 9 people….)

 

I think there is going to be a strategy to get folks from VA to come to games.  Some direct rail from north, and possibly even ferry service depending on where the actual site is could be really cool.

 

I kindof wanted the Dumphries site because it was on the river, and I was going to start a riverboat casino ferry business to get people to games.

But Maryland and DC haven't made it easy.  It's just been roadblock after roadblock.  Virginia has always seemed like the path of least resistance, relatively speaking.  And the further out you went, the easier it got.

Not a big fan of the stadium curtain. If your gonna put up a dome, put up a dome. No need to try and get the best of both worlds at the same time.

 

If you want a outdoor team feel, put a retractable roof on it. Not some weird see thru mesh. Feels cheap

The recent news just takes me back to 2016 when renderings for the "moat palace" were unveiled on 60 Minutes.  By then, FedEx was already maligned over and over and over, and the release of the renderings, while goofed on at the time, at least gave hope that we would be in a new place by......now.  And I don't think there was a whole lot of concern expressed about us departing FedEx before 2027, as the thought was the team would find a way to get out of the agreement.

 

And here we sit.  With renderings that look uninspiring, the knowledge that we are going to remain at FedEx through the 2026 season, and the not unrealistic possibility that Dan might actually build a new place right next to it.

Ok…I took a Xanax about an hour ago and these stadium designs are about to put me over the edge.  At this point, I feel like I am being trolled by Mr Snyder himself.  The owners need to put in the vote to remove him STAT because I have never been this close to looking for a new team to support.  Simply put, this team can’t a do a ****ing thing right and it may be time for me to leave this abusive relationship.
