Wildbunny
Only 5 plus Tress Way? That's a tough call really. I'll try it though: Tress Way (that one is mandatory and doesn't count) 1 - Cole Holcomb 2 - Terry McLaurin 3 - Brandon Scherff 4 - Jonathan Allen 5 - Matt Ioannaidis Still that's a tough call for those guys: - Trey Quinn - Jimmy Moreland - Chase Rouillier - Daron Payne - Steven Sims Jr. (looks like our next CT) - Dustin Hopkins

KDawg
Guys to potentially keep (taking into account the dumpster fire and perhaps a misread on talent): Definite: Terry McLaurin Daron Payne Jonathan Allen Matt Ionaiddas Landon Collins (I like him, sue me) Montez Sweat Dustin Hopkins (maybe not the best, but I'd prefer not to put ourselves in kicker hell again) Maybe: Scherff (though, I'd see what the market value is and not overpay him) Wes Martin (depth) Chase Roullier Ereck Flowers Steven Simms Montae Nicholson (depth) Fabian Moreau Dunbar Cole Holcomb A big time maybe, and largely dependent on the new staff's POV: Dwayne Haskins Guys who could stay, but I'd like to see what we could get): Ryan Kerrigan Everyone else, not named Tress Way, is fully expendable. I don’t care if he got cut from the cardinals the dude was playing lights out for us last year that’s all that mattered. And we released him for saying it like it is. Is that enough proof of pro bowl play? Huh desertbeagle85?
Burgold
Can I start with an honorable mention? Simms has flashed some real quickness and game changing ability. Part of me is excited to see what he becomes. I'd love to see him develop into a jitterbug third receiver. I don't know that I'd build a team around him, but he's been a bright spot. In fact, I'm going to unironically argue that I feel fairly good about our receiving corp moving forward. I think McClaurin, Harmon, Simms, and maybe Quinn form a pretty interesting unit. So, with that said, I'm going to cheat and say Offense McLaurin Harmon (projection based on hope and some nice catches) One of Love/Guice (projection based on burning incense, prayer and hope) Haskins (projection because it'd make everything easier if this worked out for once) Help me there's got to be a fifth... Part of me wants to say Scherrf, but he's injured and who knows if he'll re-sign. Martin? There's got to be at least one o-lineman worth building around. Defense Allen Payne Ionadis Settle Holcomb (just like the kid. He seems like the kind of player that coaches always try to replace, but can't. Someone whose hustle outshines their measure. Sick of guys who are high on potential and invisible on production anyway.

Commander -JB-
Haskins McLaurin Payne Allen Sweat I’d say that is the core you’d have to keep. Outside of those 5 the team is in shambles through terrible drafts, awful free agency acquisitions, and the inability to realize that what Allen thinks are good talented teams are pure ****. Gibbs Hog Heaven
Just keeping 5 to build around is super tough but a gun to my head, I'll go 2 skill guys on the offensive side of the ball. And 3 defensive guys. Haskins. Best QB in last years class and we don't need to be starting that search again. McLaurin. Surprising revelation far exceeding expectations already. Allen And Payne to have the young foundation on the D-line. And Fabian Moreau for the back end. He's everything to be a true #1 corner under the right coaching/ environment. The ones I went backwards and forward with - Scherff/ Ionnidis/ Holcombe/ Sweat. Hail.
Veryoldschool
I like the OP list: Allen Scherff Ioannidis Payne McLaurin Way McLaurin has just flashed talent whereas the others have demonstrated their talents over time but I'm impressed enough with his first appearances to commit to him. There are other quality players that are young and not so young that like on the roster the Redskins may have less than even an average team but they have some talent. Brokenstriker
I don't know if you intended this to make the point that there's actually more than 6 quality players on this roster ... just makes me more frustrated that they can't find ways to allow the players to take advantage of their strengths (and expose the opponents' weaknesses) ... maybe they should be player coached? Could it be worse? I'm thinking no.

Rogue Jedi
1. Payne 2. Sweat (rough start but I can see the potential) 3. McLaurin 4. Haskins 5. Ioannidis Leaving out Jonathan Allen, because until he proves he can play 16 games he's pretty worthless to me. Sure, he makes an impact, but what good is it if he's not on the field? The guy has missed games every season since we drafted him.

Seems a bit knee jerk reaction to me but it's your 5. I am keeping him warts and all.

No, because all of the people that will be picked are basically guys that are good now/potential for down the road. No super stars on the team. I think there are reasonably more than 5 I'd want to keep. I actually think our specialists are completely fine, maybe Hopkins the exception. My keepers would be: Allen Io Payne Settle Sweat Holcomb Moreau McLaurin Steven Simms Harmon Quinn Sundberg Way Hopkins Roullier Maybes: Guice Love Haskins Scherff Wes Martin Pierschbacher Moreland Dunbar Kerrigan

Going Commando
Haskins Sweat McLaurin Payne Allen I disagree with the premise in the OP though. We definitely have more than five keepers. Scherff, Dunbar, and Settle are keepers too. Collins has the potential to be far more than a mercenary too, I want to keep him as well. We also need to see what we have in Guice, Love, Foster, Moreau, and Harmon as any or all of them could be keepers.

My issue though, is that Guice can't be our #1 running back option going into next season. He has now been hurt twice. He has shown he has very little durability at the pro level thus far. That doesn't mean you throw the baby out with the bath water. But it does mean you hedge your bets. Adrian Peterson is signed for next season, so there is some insurance. Guice, Love, Peterson and Thompson is a good group of backs. If AP shows some moxey the rest of the way this year, that Guice being #1 issue is covered. If he doesn't, the Skins need to find a guy they can rely on. Doesn't need to be an all-pro, a pro bowler or whatever... Just a guy who can carry the load. That's a general philosophy thing for me... If you have a guy you think has potential but they have injury concerns you have to make sure you have a quality guy at the same position that can replace him.
