I'm sorry, this guy was extra dramatic.  The way he was acting, during and after, you'd think they were torturing him and pulling his fingernails out.  I'm pretty sure his legs worked to not have to get dragged like a sack of dirty laundry.

There was video of him after saying "just kill me".  Really dude. Get a grip.

Dude is 69 years old and was manhandled.  I don't know if you saw the extended version of the video, but he made his way back on the plane.  Dude looked COMPLETELY disoriented.  I hardly put any blame/fault on this man for how he reacted before, during, or after this situation.  If fingers should be pointed, they should go on whoever OK'd the random selection of passengers, the cop, and whoever was in charge of escorting the man off the plane once the police were done.

I like how United's apology referred to the situation as having to "re-accommodate" the unlucky passengers.  Cleveland Browns tackle Joe Thomas sent a pretty  good tweet about that.

"...having to re-accommodate?" That's what we're calling it? https://twitter.com/united/status/851471781827420160

Meh.

I don't really care too much about this whole thing but it could have been prevented if people weren't dicks.

United.  The officers.  The man who refused to move.  All the people videotaping the man getting brutally removed.

PLEASE explain what he did wrong?

And the people videotaping?  What could they have done?  Good on them for filming.

I buy a ticket, reserve a seat... I'm not giving the seat up. If I have to knock a cop or two out while they are dragging me out, so be it.

Seriously though, I agree with Kilmer and daggone it... another poster. Overbooking is the most ridiculous part of this situation and actually caused the situation.

I should not have to leave my seat that I booked in advance and paid for in advance. Kill that noise.

As I said in my first response...charter your employees or make them wait for a standby flight, not your paying customers.

At what point would have been cheaper to build another plane and put the 4 crew members on it? This is why im not upset about it. They are gonna pay, financially. I just hope the Doc gets broke off too.

So you're saying Ryan Kerrigan and Josh Norman will also re accommodate fools in 2017 ?

this was highly predictable

the "he's no angel" defense is NEVER late to the party

United's crack PR team probably dug up dirt on this guy—probably out there feeding it to the media. Everybody has something that can be publicized as a negative because no one is perfect.

As if the guy hasn't been dragged around enough.

As usual in our society, no one is ever at fault no matter what, so long as the victim ever did anything in his past that could cause an internet user to crinkle up their nose.

I hate that,,  nothing aggravates me more than people refusing to take any responsibility for anything.

And guess what? Almost no one will anymore. The "american way" is now to scream and point fingers until the heat is off of you and onto your victim.

Cowardly snivelling and craven.

Our society is so easily manipulated that it makes those tactics completely viable, because they WORK. All anyone ever wants to see is someone else get dragged through the mud.

Well........he refused to comply with the airline policy, refused to give up his seat, physically resisted to be removed from his seat when security arrived to handle the situation.  It's the rules, clearly explained and known that it could happen to any passenger on any of their flights.

Do the rules suck?  Absolutely.  Was there excessive force used to remove him?  I think there was.  Should the passenger have acted like an adult that was in their 60s instead of a 5 year old having a temper tantrum?  Absolutely.

Good ole character assassination.  Ooooooohhhhh he had a "troubled past" (which is putting it very harshly), so he deserves to be yanked off a plane.

Did United run a background check on everyone and determine he was the most evil person there and therefore deserving of being tossed off?  If no, I fail to see how it's relevant.

Indeed, it proves he is actually a doctor and didn't make it up, which I think is the most important detail.

Really United's situation could only have looked worse if someone got sick on the flight and the doctor wasn't there, but thankfully it looks like everyone was healthy.
