Think it's likely more than that, like $14mil per year which may have us backing out.  We'll see.

Yeah, that would deter me a bit as well.

Said earlier, NE gave both TEs 12.5mil py, Corey Davis got the same. So, you have to decide if Samuel is worth that or more..

This tells me that either Allen or Heinicke still isn’t safe moving forward, if they’re willing to still be in trade talks for another QB, they’d likely be willing to draft one, can’t see how they carry 4 there’s going to have to be one casualty Id hazard a guess at Allen

I call BS. His source is from the Jets. They're trying to drive up the market after they screwed up.

I liked Tonyan's game but wonder if it's a product of Rodgers?  He's a tough guy.

Tonyan >>> Jonnu and Henry.  He is extremely athletic and was hyper efficient with his chances last year.  If anything Rodgers should have gone to him more.  I'd give a 2nd in a heartbeat.  If you draft a TE you're waiting a year or two at least for them to develop...Tonyan emerged in his year 3 and is still young.  You'd get a prime TE for a 5 year window.  Sign me up!

That said he's not leaving GB.

If Larry Fitzgerald is is a free agent (nothing announced about him in the past week), I'd be all over him. Fitz, Fitz, and Co.

Tomorrow IS St Patrick's Day.

So, wouldn't it be ironic if we signed TWO Fitz's by that day ?

Or will they call it St. Fitzpatrick's Day now ?

Some in the media just won't let the Darnold thing die.

Sure, Washington is going to pay Fitzpatrick $10 million guaranteed, but then turn around and trade for Darnold (in the last year of his deal) and then just not play one of them for funsies. While we're at, why not get Trubisky and Mariota. Have six QBs!

Giants have some room to do a few restructures, so they don't have to get that new contract with Leonard Williams.  I'm honestly not sure how they have such low cap room.  I'm looking and they don't have much in the way of expensive contracts.

3 guys over 15M, 5 guys over 10M and 11 total over 5M.

I hope they don’t pay too much for Samuel. Isn’t slot receiver deep for this draft? Take a chance on Atwell or Eskridge

I really think Samuels has been "THE" FA target all along and RR has wanted him since taking this job.  There must be something really special about him both on and off the field that he's looking for in a player.

No, they don't. Back-ups usually get less than $5 million. Here's a link listing the highest paid back-ups the past three season: https://www.espn.com/blog/las-vegas-raiders/post/_/id/24227/how-does-marcus-mariota-and-his-big-for-a-backup-contract-fit-with-the-raiders

Mariota tops the list at $7.5 million. Sixth place is $5 million. Meaning the sixth highest paid back-up QB of the last three years got $5 million. No back-up is making $10 million. It's usually more like $3 million.

Then Winston signed for backup money. Hill is getting 12 million.

We should have made an offer, Fitzpatrick money and we have a young starter for cheap.

I agree on his talent, but it seems he fits the nfl mold for a 3rd down back. It’s kind of like the slot WR position with most not having a real deep threat ability. I thought most of Mckissics reps were schemed up or the defense giving those yards. He had some solid after catch stuff but nothing consistent from a dynamic standpoint. Dropped a fair share of balls as well.

Can you point to other dynamic third down backs?

Ideally Gibson would be play in third and long.  I realize it's not realistic to pound one RB continuously every series, but the position is very important and I think it's a trap to find yourself settling for a bunch of lower cost, lower upside "specialists" who aren't suitable for every down and distance.  It tips your plays to the defense way too much and limits your situational calling too much when the bullets are flying on gameday, plus it really leaves you in a lurch when your depth chart goes through injury attrition during the year.

You're running shotgun on first down so much now that you want two (preferably more) runners who are suitable for every down and distance.  That's how the blue-blooded college programs recruit and design their run games.  I realize that isn't always feasible in the NFL and can be expensive, but we have the opportunity to achieve this in the draft this year because we've got a championship caliber DL that is saturated in blue chip talent, aren't spending anything on our QBs, and have an OL that is good enough for us to not be desperate.  This is the year for us to be very aggressive and picky in the acquisition of offensive skill talent and bring in a bunch of dynamic players.  Give me another Antonio Gibson (or someone even better) and we're in business.  Swing run heavy but from shotgun sets and taking big shots downfield in the passing game (complimented with catch and run opportunities for the dynamic backs) and trust the defense to get you the ball back when you turn it over.  Basically, I want to be able to run the Ohio State or Alabama offenses in the NFL, and that means loading up with dynamic skill talent where I've got several pockets of high gravity stressing the defense throughout the field.  We've got like a two or three year window to make this happen before our DL either atrophies or prices us out of the free agent market.
