This is the chance for Dan to grab this bull by the horns, own it, and let's get moving forward. Make the decision. Too much delay or too much fan involvement will just generate additional frustration. Again, I think with the name you take the easy way out with Warriors, and then do some really cool and unique things with the branding. Nodding to the past where you can, without leaving yourself open to additional criticism or ridicule. No doubt, Gen X fans (my generation) and the boomers will have the hardest time dealing with this change. The die-hards will lick their wounds for a while, and once the season starts I'm convinced most people will still be watching. I don't think at this point Dan can be blamed for having to make this change, and I don't envy his position. I'm reminded of a quote from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country... Whatever name they decide, we will have to live with for the rest of our lives...unless the new name suddenly becomes offensive 10 years from now. However, the legal department has to do its thing, and the marketing department has to do its thing. There'll be a proper launch. Given that it's Dan, I wouldn't be shocked if he'll tie this to announcement of a new stadium deal. This whole thing looks pretty arranged. bentskin Posted July 6, 2020 Share Posted July 6, 2020 If this is happening, Snyder can thank Nike by doing it quickly. And then put all the pressure on Nike to put their money where their mouth is. If they change the name this week then force Nike to cooperate with the rebrand and have to reproduce ALL that gear with the new name and maybe logo. If appropriate, I have heard both ways, I would prefer they keep the logo or go with the 60’s spear / arrow ( I like that too). If the current logo is not appropriate it does seam pretty simple to just go retro with the spear / arrow on the helmet and darker burgundy / real gold color scheme. I think Warriors is the easiest even if we lose HTTR. HTTW works to or we old schoolers can keep HTTR as our little rebellion. I heard Sentinels mentioned and this could also work with the 60’s helmet. The logo is a spear NOT an arrow and the colors dont have to change. I also like Redwolves as the best of the "R" names but that changes the logo too I think to a wolf and I dont trust designers to make it cool. I fear it will be very cartoonish, a la a Madden logo. Which are all terrible. How can they not do better? Isnt this their job? To be creative. i do prefer a logo over a letter also. While I am a very big Joe Gibbs fan I am not a fan of the script R or the Lombardi Green Bay Packers themed R logo helmets. I dont know why Bruce decided that was a George Allen thing. He just kept what Vince left him. So for what is worth. 1. Warriors – not the most imaginative but it is consistent and easy to transition to. 2. Sentinels – Spear on the helmet. Move along. 3. Redwolves – keep HTTR in tact and see what logo they come up with. HTTR forever PS. What about ReSkins? If Dan changed the color scheme back to darker burgundy and true gold that would be a re skinning of sorts. Washington ReSkins. This will never happen of course.
