  7. Wasn't a big part of Carolina's defensive philosophy a lack of money spent on the secondary position? I remember that being a talking point when they decided to release Norman. Did that stem from Gettleman or Ron? My thinking is that Rivera is more likely to focus on the trenches and build the defense from the inside out, and so he feels more comfortable skimping on the secondary because he feels our D-line will create enough havoc and opportunities for guys like Morland and Fuller to make plays when QB is under pressure. He may not be done addressing the secondary, but he might feel comfortable enough with our front 7 to address it with a draft pick or 2 instead of free agents if he thinks the d-line can provide enough pressure to cover our lack of depth there.
  8. Awesome move getting a young QB, with both upside AND starting experience, AND familiarity with the new offense. All for a 5th round pick? Very well done.

Its a backup system. Made so that if its your turn and you haven't been online in awhile, they can use your short list to draft someone for you instead of you getting skipped

    2020 ES GM's Mock Draft....

I think Coronavirus broke the draft
  12. Delanie Walker managed to be super productive as the lone offensive weapon for the Titans for like 5 straight years. Defenses game planned around him every week and he still put up numbers. We don't need him to be a focal point. He should be treated as a low risk, high reward redzone target for Haskins. He had a bad injury 2 years ago that clearly limited him the last two seasons, and also gave coaches the opportunity to see what they had in his younger replacement J. Smith, who showed enough to push his way into the starting role. I don't blame the Titans for choosing Smith over Walker given their respective ages and upside, but it doesn't mean Walker doesn't still have value. This guy should get the same treatment as A. Peterson and V. Davis. Brought in as a backup and a mentor to the younger guys who can be sprinkled into the game plan as his health dictates. You don't forget how to be that good of a playmaker overnight. I also don't think adding him prevents you from targetting the position in the draft. If anything, it benefits you by giving you the luxury to address it in the lower rounds on a "best player available" basis rather than overreaching for someone with a high pick in a weak class. Similarly, I think the Skins should go after J. Kearse at WR for the same reason and with the same mindset.

    2020 ES GM's Mock Draft....

So is this still happening Friday?
  14. Yeah, he needs to get healthy and not be relied on as a starter. But with a sort of ****ty TE draft and FA class, I'd rather get him for a cheap one year back up plan than invest heavily in a guy like Hooper who i think isn't worth the money he's gonna get and not worth tying ourselves to for multiple years. I'd rather address TE in next years draft and take a bandaid approach for this season, hopefully getting Sprinkle and Hentges most of the reps to see if they'll develop into playmakers, with Walker as a last resort with upside later in the year in spot duty
  15. I'm really interested to see where Delanie Walker ends up. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001106181/article/titans-release-te-delanie-walker-after-7-seasons He's not a starter anymore but I'd love to bring him in as depth for our TE group. He'd be a great cheap addition to our thin ranks and could be used as a redzone target for Haskins if we didn't rely on him out of the gate and gave him the time to get healthy.
  16. The Redskins are uniquely prepared to lead the NFL in this situation... They've been phoning it in for years.
  17. Give me Jermaine Kearse in free agency. Buy low candidate with great upside coming off a broken leg in last year's preseason. Super sticky hands and amazing at contested catches. Not super fast but if paired with a speedster like McLaurin will be such a great safety blanket over the middle for Haskins. Will push the young receivers in training camp to try and steal his spot without hamstringing the team financially. Garcon 2.0
  18. All Day is back. The Redskins are signing running back Adrian Peterson, sources told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Around The NFL will have more on this story soon. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000949610/article/redskins-to-sign-veteran-rb-adrian-peterson Its a one year deal according to WAPO https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/sports/wp/2018/08/20/redskins-to-sign-former-nfl-mvp-adrian-peterson/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.5186999e39ac I'd like to think that his offseason training with Trent Williams played a role in this. Both with his decision to come here and with Trent being able to offer insights to the coaches about Peterson's ability to still play. If we didn't have Thompson as a 3rd down back, I'd be way less optimistic. As it is, I think he'll be able to give enough to be productive without having to rely on him for 30 carries a game. And I think even at this point in his career, he might offer more speed and better vision than Kelley
  19. Couple of points: - I would love to see us retain Donald Penn. Guy overperformed last year and would be a great backup to have behind Trent if we could afford him for 1 more year and give us a chance to address the position through the draft with lower developmental picks. - If we don't keep Trent I'd love to see us go after Thuney because of his versatility. Played all over the line in college and for the Pats which would come in handy with our notoriosly jigsaw line. - My vote for WR would easily be Jermaine Kearse. He broke his leg in preseason last year for the Lions so he's had all season to recover and can be had for cheap. The guy has great hands and was super effective over the middle for the Jets and Seahawks. Reminds me of the way Garcon used to be for us. I think him and McLaurin would be a very effective combo. A great, cheap way to get a veteran presence without a huge investment so the young guys on the roster can still get their shots. The perfect guy for them to "try and overtake" during training camp.

2019 ES GMs Mock Draft - Final!

Thanks man! This will be the first time i'll be drafting without uncertainty at the QB position so looking forward to it. Pretty proud of those Thuney and Johnathan Jones picks. And Mahomes at 37 was a pleasant surprise.
