skinsmarydu
One of my favorite coworkers is 60 years old, and a Trumper.(super sports fan, great guy other than being an Obama hater for no reason other than the obvious). I was leaving when he came in today wearing a mask, and he made a point of telling me to make sure I have my mask on if I have to go anywhere. 😊
BatteredFanSyndrome
To me this isn’t just about opening up society too early.  Society eventually has to open up.  It’s about the administration creating guidelines for re-opening society, pushing governors to go against those guidelines, and not level setting with the people of this country that this is serious and that everyone needs to adhere to the guidelines in order to get back to some level of normalcy.   When you constantly pander to your base and their wants vs. do the right thing, you get what we’ve got.  A mess. skinsmarydu
I'm more than willing to isolate again. Last year's hospitalization was the first since I was 5, and lasted 22 days, I almost died.  Not willing to try that again. Ever. I just put it on the HR site...unavailable until whenever. 1

TradeTheBeal!
The state of VA had like 520 cases today. Palm Beach County alone had roughly 450.  Couldn’t imagine being a frontline med worker down there right now.  Its gonna get out of hand. 2

PCS
Meanwhile locally, things got a little better today,(or worse depending how one looks at it). A few days ago,I almost walked off the job. Didn't,but was that>.< close to making that day my last. I looked up an hour or so in to my shift and noticed several people not wearing masks. I kept track of this during the rest of the day. Rough estimate. 75% to 80% of the people I saw there did not wear masks. Too damn many knuckle heads for me. Just not worth it. I still have some living to do and I know my wife does. She's a nurse and has to risk things every time she goes to work, much less having to be at risk from me.  I'd prefer not to play the odds with this little virus. I then thought about the high probability of what is probably coming economy wise and decided to hang in there. Practicing very strict personal guidelines when it comes to this thing is the rule here. Today, the Governor helped with this. Nevada is in the beginning of its own surge. So.     Some are already pissed and I imagine things are going to be edgy around these parts for a bit. Oh well. Perhaps I'll offer them some cheese and crackers to go with their whine.

Destino
Quote People of color won't be required to wear masks in an Oregon county (CNN)People of color are exempt from an Oregon county's mask mandate over concerns about racial profiling.  Lincoln County, Oregon, requires most residents to wear face coverings in public settings, indoors or outdoors. The overwhelmingly White county will not require non-White residents to wear them if they fear harassment, the county said this month. It's one of the first counties in the US to exempt people of color from wearing masks to prevent racial profiling. https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/24/us/oregon-county-people-of-color-mask-trnd/index.html  This is ridiculous. We know that people of color are seeing the largest infection rates in the US and they're the ones that won't have to wear masks? This takes the most vulnerable groups, and make them more likely to be infected and infect others. If I was an advocacy group or minority church in that area I'd be telling my people "ignore this nonsense and wear your mask."  it's not on these people to stop police violence, that is the job of the police and local government. PoC shouldn't have to put themselves at greater risk for a problem that isn't there's to solve. If Lincoln County wants to help them, then they can do so be making sure their police are held accountable and by forcing them to deescalate before using any force. 5 1

TheGreatBuzz
Breaking radio silence to share an update as to what is going on with the military.  Not offering an opinion or anything, just a statement that can be found readily available on social media.  Surprised the media hasn’t mentioned this at all.   And I’m going quiet again.  Quote In accordance with NAVNORTH FRAGORD 20-024.013, service members will limit travel to/from place of residence/work with stops only for essential business (food, medical, pharmacy, gas, and childcare services).  Service members are prohibited from visiting, patronizing, or engaging in the following off-installation specific facilities, services, or activities: -Recreational swimming pools, gyms, fitness facilities, exercise classes, saunas, spas, and salons. -Tattoo/body art/piercing parlors. -Barber shops, hair or nail salons, and massage parlors. -Cinemas/theaters. -Participation in team/organized sports. -Dine-in restaurants (take-out authorized), bars, night clubs, casinos, conferences, sporting events, concerts, public celebrations, parades, public beaches, amusement parks or other events designed to promote large gatherings to include indoor religious services. -Outdoor recreation (playgrounds, etc.) where common use facilities are used and if a minimum of six feet physical distancing cannot be maintained. -Non-essential commercial retail establishments and shopping malls. -In-residence social gatherings that include more than 10 guests that do not reside in the residence. *****These prohibitions are a lawful general order under Article 92 of the UCMJ.  Any person subject to the UCMJ who violates or fails to obey this order may be subject to disciplinary action.***** Direct any questions to your chain of command.  7
TradeTheBeal!
