It's time we all call a spade a spade. This is what it comes down to, he is pissed because Black people came out and voted him out in swing states. Not in a million years they thought Black people would have came out to vote in cities that mattered.

Has Daniel Cameron (KY AG) gotten in on this?  He's a black conservative and a McConnell lackey.  If KY didn't join maybe Mitch gave him the order not to.

Love Asimov but while their ignorance may not be as "good" it has turned out to be every bit as impactful.  Frightening.

It's one of the self-destruct measures (apoptosis) of democracy as a political system. It's still an evolving paradigm... .and there are many evolutions of it presently in play 🙂

Red states, especially Texas, have been floating this stupid secession card forever. IIRC some of them did it during Clinton as well. They'll never do it, because they know that if they were suddenly cut off from the rest of the United States with regards to commerce, etc. they would never survive.

Texas might have a better shot than other red states because they have a pretty big economy of their own, but still...having to negotiate and take time for trade treaties to get things that you always just had access to easily before would tank their economy.

Texas will never do it because they will lose all federal revenue, space, military etc facilities with attendant income. Lots of people will move out (yay, reason to move!!), and they will have to institute a personal income tax.

Nah haven't seen KY. I'm pretty sure he told him not to get in on that.

I would have them strip the interior of the whole house down to the studs and rebuild it.

If they leave, they have to take their share of the national debt with them, pro-rated on how much more federal funds they have received over the years vs. what they paid.

Have fun with that, Missibama.

I would keep it just to get rid of them.

Red states will rant endlessly about how they are true Patriots and the only “real Americans” until the most moderate of moderate democrats wins the election.  Then they want to literally destroy America via civil war.

It's interesting, because they truly don't seem to experience any cognitive dissonance about it. I think a lot of it has to do with right wing media and the echo chamber. That media has consistently drilled into them for decades that Democrats and liberals are literally the enemy, that they hate America, they're communists and (somehow) also fascists. The newest is that they're serial fraudsters and criminals so any election they win is, by its very nature, corrupt and illegitimate. That one is mostly thanks to Trump.

I've been observing them in various places for a while now and the people screaming about "civil war" and "martial law" truly see themselves as essentially on the same level as the Nazi resistance during WW2. They think that if Dems win it's only by cheating, which invalidates any namby-pamby concerns about the Constitution, or any other question of national unity...at that point as far as they're concerned they're already at war for the nation so everything is on the table...even if it paradoxically includes turning into a military dictatorship (as long as it's their guy in charge).

It's pretty ****ing nuts.

This is basically verbatim what I told my friends this morning in our group chat when it came up.

the little wrinkle, that was pointed out to me, in our whole “hahah good riddance and half fun being a nation of poorly educated, impoverished, low quality health people” is that ultimately they will resolve this “issue” with war. They won’t really have a choice.

but it is fun to mention... trade relationships. Brexit anyone? Imagine being a net taker and needing to establish all new trade agreements.

also, their fundamental rational of their supposedly strength of power, farming, heavily relies on federal subsidies which they’d have no means to replace on their own.

hell their own lobby groups are now admitting climate change is real because it’s finally impacting their livelihood in a significant way, and they’ve finally realized their God isn’t going to solve their problem for them.

the whole idea is laughable in the sense that to support it requires having no real understanding on how anything works. At all.

but yeah. This is sort of like when you’re in your mid thirties, and your cousin/nephew has been living with and off you for 5 years because he can’t get his **** together, and one day gets mad about whatever it is you’re changing/doing and threatens to move out.

good bro. Get the hell out you bum. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out...

at the end of the day all data suggests these people are economic losers. They’re educational and healthcare losers as too.

and if you subscribe to the theory, which I do, that appeal to conspiracy theories has its roots in being a loser in life, they’re just generally losers too.

Nah. Let’s not work to make this something that doesn’t happen. Let’s eat that. Long term it’s a small price to pay.

im in favor of offering a wall and building it for them too. Though that idea was conceived more than its the thought of giving them Florida’s. Not half the country....
