If his body holds up, he'll be an asset tho. He will be one of my litmus tests for the strength and conditioning staff.

Thankfully they got an A+ grade in that recent report that came out. Seems like they're the one thing this team does well.

Feel like I read that he’s a film junkie?  That carries a lot of weight for me (no pun intended) if so.

Watch Kentucky.

They run a screen to the receiver two times from the same formation. The next time they came out in that formation Forbes jumped it and picked Levis off.

The guy is a ballhawk and has a high football IQ. He may not have been the guy I wanted strategically but damn am I looking forward to seeing him play for us. Going to be a ton of fun. He’s going to make plays.

This D is gonna give the offense a lot of short fields. Scary D Line and Secondary.

That's kind of how I feel too.  I probably would have picked Myles Murphy if I'd had the call, but I like Forbes too.  This pick reminds me of the Jahan pick from the year before, where I loved his value when he was considered a second rounder, but his stock climbed too much during the draft process and wasn't going to go that late any more.  For an NFL comp, he reminds me of Eric Stokes.  Tall lanky speedster with a really aggressive mentality.  Not quite as fast as Eric but better ball skills.

I love that Forbes has legit return skills, which are surprisingly rare for defensive backs.  He doesn't just think until the ball ends up in his hands.  He's got a feel for what to do with it once he's got it, and you see that in the Deion-like return numbers.  Most guys just kind of panic and run straight into tackles or get angled to the boundaries.  Think he had almost 40 picks in H.S. and college combined, so a lot of return experience there.

Also like that he's got man/zone flexibility.  Most people are saying he was drafted for his excellence in zone coverage, and that he's too slight to play man coverage.  But he played a lot of man in the cut ups I saw, and some of his most impressive plays were picking the ball off from man, and effortlessly recovering to deep speed way down the field after getting beaten earlier in the route.  He's not just some zone corner, this dude can really run.  He can spend forever watching the QB and still get back in phase.

Ben Volin (Boston Globe) on The Junkies said Patriots who drafted C.Gonzalez, were looking at Forbes and Banks as their other DB options.  Said they were surprised Gonzalez was there and that Washington didn't pick him but he surmised it was scheme fit.

I struggled with those Georgia cut ups too for Gonz.  Those were the main reasons I wasn't in love with him as an early first round pick.  But there have been some recent success stories of traitsy corners with really ugly film turning into home runs in the NFL: Tyriq Woolen, Tyson Campbell, AJ Terrell.  Stingley isn't a success story yet, but he could be another example soon.

Maybe we played ourselves with regards to dudes like Gonz and Ringo, but if you spend a lot of time watching all of these guys, it can be hard to completely ignore bad play and see only the traits and the potential.

At the end of the day I'm happy we got Forbes.  Having a threat to score when you've got four guys in your front who can have double digit sack seasons is a major weapon.  Especially with a big press corner like Juice playing on the opposite side of the field and making quick throws to that side tough.  Even if Gonz ends up a better overall player, Forbes can be particularly good and valuable for us.

Forbes anticipatory reads are the absolute best in this class. I'd even say in the last few classes.

I've been saying this since we drafted him, but to reiterate:

If Forbes was 6-2 205 he would have been CB1 by a LANDSLIDE. Not even close. Rated higher than Spoon. Being 166 pounds is what held me back from rating him as CB1. I had him lower because of the size. It was NEVER about his skills. Forbes may even be the best cover corner of the entire class as well. If he can overcome the size we got a great player at 16 and no one will complain.

The more I think on it the happier I am with Forbes. Maybe not strategically, still, but the kind of player we got is going to be a LOT of fun. He's my favorite draft pick for us AS A PLAYER, and I love Stromberg. I think Forbes is going to make a ton of plays on the ball for us. I also think he and Juste can make the QBs hold the ball for a split second longer which hopefully lets Sweat actually get home instead of playing horseshoes all the time.

Missing out on a pass rush specialist like Sanders, Herbig, Simpson, Latu, Hampton, Pace, etc seems like such a missed oppertunity and collasal wiff from this past draft.

The more and more I hear about Forbes, the more and more I fall in love with this guy. He might be the first jersey I buy since RG3 his rookie year. (Granted, I might wait and see if we rebrand again)

Hoping we just drafted a perennial All-Pro. Haven't had one of those in a while.

Just listened to the latest Keim podcast, where he talked to Forbes' position coach from college. Maaaaan, I'm stoked about having this kid on our team. He is the real deal.

Keim is an outstanding interviewer - great to listen to.

I really love this pick the more time goes on. It's exactly what we needed.

Also, Ron called the wrong number for Forbes, too?  :ols:

I had forgotten that Ron didn't know about our playoff scenario last year.  He didn't know we had to win or didnt know we were eliminated. If I had remembered before the draft I would have been lobbying for no picks by him or for JDR's scheme specifically.

I am warming up to the pick but that still has me on tilt.
