Has your team support wained due to ownership or can you see past it?

  1. 1. Will you attend a game and support the team while Dan Snyder is the owner of the team, regardless of success?

    • Yes
    • No
    • I would start attending games if Dan was no longer the owner of the team.

Okay, after the first sentence I thought they were mad about the same stuff fans are, bungling it the way they have IS embarrassing…but they’re actually mad that their number wasn’t retired first?? I mean, **** right off. The dude died and is obviously afforded a different level of deference that you just kind of have to accept if you aren’t an asshole. Wow.

Thom Loverro:  Washington doesn’t really do the retired number thing well.  Don’t you think they should have retired numbers along the way?

Darrell Green/Joe Theismann/Joe Jacoby/Brian Mitchell/Charles Mann/whomever:  Yes.  We have had guys along the way that built multiple Super Bowl teams.  They should have been celebrated like other organizations do.

Readers:  Alumni is jealous of Sean Taylor.  They can go to hell.

I see the situation more like this than guys being jealous…unless Loverro has some direct quotes.

I think I've finally gotten to the point that if Dan moved the team, I would see it as a blessing from God above, because my allegiance would not span geography.

Until he moves the team, I am going to be forced to suffer, because I have an addictive personality and I can't give it up.  Sigh, oh well.

I feel bad for Ron.  I think he's a straight shooter and a good person.  He doesn't need this circus.  And it has to be clear to him now that he can only control some part of it.  He can't control all of it.

To think George Preston Marshall almost sold the team to Clint Murchison in the '50s. Imagine if we lived in the timeline where that happened.

-No nickname controversy

-No association with Marshall, wretched bigot that he was

-New start with a new team - maybe an AFL franchise

-Maybe we don't have to deal with the Snyders at all

That timeline sounds awesome.

I mean I’ll always be a fan.

but he’ll if I’ve watched any regular season games in the last 3-4 years. There’s no point. Not until something fundamental changes.

why waste your time and emotions

There’s that and also avoiding giving money to them. And honestly I take it a step further and actively root against them. I want the circus now. I want every game to be a 40-0 loss and humiliating. Sucks for the players, some of them I’m sure are good dudes. I’d like to root for them but I can’t root for a cesspool organization like this. It’s so awful and inept in every way it’s honestly beyond description. So I root for the **** in all its forms so that every loss stings and humiliates Dan to the point he drinks so much he goes home at night and is so upset, drunk and insecure over his failures as a human being that he can’t even get his little limp dick up enough to quietly look at porn while Tonya sleeps happily in a room down the hallway far away from him, and he eventually falls asleep each night crying to himself over the realization of his suppressed fear that the look he sees in the eyes of his children is the same hatred toward him that he sees in the face of every fan.  that it ruins his night.

I mean it’s sad to think hopefully one day a scandal will eventually break that will uncover how much more awful he is than we already know he is and it gets so bad he has to go.

I wouldn’t even care if the team moved and a new team replaced them. I have no allegiance to DC so I wouldn’t root for the replacement. With a new DC team, I’d still be what I am now: a team less fan of the sport stuck rooting for good football games and great players doing great things.

Burn it all to the ground. That’s probably enough stadium for me tonight.

You just…made up an entire conversation for yourself. Maybe it went down that way but I have no reason to think that. I don’t know who his sources are but they’re better than your imagination I’d guess. Unless?

I truly believe all of the attention swelling up around this investigation will be the best opportunity we ever have to get away from Snyder.

More and more people are asking why those emails came out, and more and more are finding out this all leads back to Washington. Once there are more leaks, people will be out for more heads to roll.

I have this growing suspicion that we maybe just maybe get a Donald Sterling ending, with Snyder being banned from the league, when this is all said in done.

You are dreaming.  The nfl owners will protect their own.

Saw some vocal fans on Twitter rolling out the “you don’t have to apologize Jason, it’s not your fault, sorry you have to deal with this” towards Wright.

What?? Why are some of our fans so ****ing stupid. The head guy on the business side, it’s not his fault or responsibility? The Team President?? Why do our fans always pick a random guy, decide HE’S the savior, and then jump in front of bullets for them for years. Over and over and over. Gotta be the dumbest fanbase on earth.

Right now it's just Baugh's #33, but it will be 3 with Mitchell and Taylor.

They announced Bobby Mitchell's in 2020 and officially retired it week 2 against the Giants. So currently 2 and Sunday 3. Probably  number 28 ceremony is in back pocket if more emails leak or next controversy starts.

Pretty sure the Sean Taylor 21 being retired is part of the alumni homecoming game, which is Sunday.

I think it’s long overdue, but still good that it’s being retired. Can’t we just be happy that it’s being retired instead of finding a way to be negative?

Because that’s not why they are retiring it. It’s just a pr distraction from emails.

If they really planned it for months; you don’t announce it, 3 days before you do it.

I think that’s certainly what they’re doing. And I think 98% of the time it works. I think there’s a miraculous, unlikely, beautiful 2% chance that they’re so obstinate about it—about arrogantly stonewalling everyone without placating anyone—that they accidentally let public sentiment and the media outcry build to such a crescendo that by the time they realize it, they’ll be in the same corner they fought to avoid, just having taken a different path. Kind of similar to Snyder with the name change. It was never EVER happening, over his dead body…and then after one contentious summer it suddenly was inevitable, was always gonna happen, always had to happen, can’t believe this didn’t happen decades ago—overnight it just happened. Sometimes that’s how things go when events line up that have the entire world turn against an institution all at once, for that moment in time. Rarely…but sometimes.

DeMaurice Smith is calling for a league wide investigation now. I dont know how more emails and details wont leak at this point. This has a chance to take the league itself down. My prayer is they use Snyder as the fall guy and boot his ass.

"What I'm interested in -- is there correspondence that suggests teams are making decisions about coaches based on the color of their skin?" Smith said on ESPN's "The Right Time with Bomani Jones" podcast. "Are they actively hostile to players that have chosen to self-identify in various ways? Are they denigrating of people based on sexual preference or religious identity?"

If the emails could just take at Dan; the nfl probably wouldn’t have a problem.  Thing is, those emails probably can take a good chunk of the league and they won’t let that happen.

Seems likely to me Sean’s family was told to attend the alumni game and they would be there to be honored for him, and that’s where guys like Ryan Clark heard about “something” happening.

However, recent events have forced them to go from honoring Sean among others during homecoming, to highlighting Sean with a Jersey Retirement.

I haven’t read someone say: “we knew about the retirement weeks/months ago”, only “we knew they would honor him”

would love to be proven wrong if I just missed something though

also no matter what, 10K towels and 3 days notice is an abject disaster lmao

I will say that starting up this retired number jersey game now after basically not doing it for decades is a complicated issue.

And starting with Taylor 14 years after he died is ….. complicated.

That feels like something that should have been done in the moment.

He’s basically Washington’s Thurman Munson. Fans of other teams say “Oh yea, that guy was pretty good.” Anyone alive in the moment gets why it was a huge deal. But if the Yankees decided to pull out all the stops to honor Munson In 1993, it would be seen as odd.

The issue is the distance makes it more about the play on the field, not the loss of his future.  And that does allow 50 other guys to think “I was better” or “I did more.”

The fact the NFL investigated 650k emails from Washington, and in the midst of a massive sexual harassments suit that meant a 10 million dollar fine, chose to release only the handful of them involving the coach of another team and nothing involving the team actual under investigation may be the biggest screw up Goodell and the NFL has made.  It makes them look really sleazy and complicit in everything in Washington, in they desperate attempt to defend the indefensible Dan Snyder.

The NFL will never allow the release of all of those emails because of the number of big people it would take down and precedence it would set, which is why it was such a big screw up they allowed some of them released and for people to clamor for what they didnt even know existed.  Goodell is definitely complicit now, and if Snyder falls due to his screw up, so likely does he, so he will protect him to the last.
