So npr is saying eu opened travel to tons of places including China (if they relax restrictions on eu travelers) and South Korea.

but US travelers are banned

There you go republicans

you found someone to chase us out of command of the global economy

and the real kicker about it happening now is that a lot of his policies/doings prior to the pandemic were also doing that style of damage

so there you go. That’s your guy. Congratulations.

Virginia going to Phase 3 tomorrow.  Pretty much everything open at 75% capacity...except bars.  Bars were originally included but Northam pulled the plug on it earlier today.

July will be revealing...

Edit:  The dealerships will be mildly expanding the sales force but still set up for social distancing.  And the boutique will remain closed.

Lol so...NY and 2 other states around NY have pretty much banned residents from 13 states or if you travel to one of those 13 states you give up your rights to paid sick leave...

If that's the reaction within the US why would you expect another country to let US travellers in?

How do you punish 62.9 million voters?

Look around you. Unfortunately the rest of us get to suffer along with them.

Add: For the hardest core of his supporters seeing him lose in November (God willing) will be a shock to their system.

For sake of argument, the real discussion probably should be about can we force the cure on everyone (when it exists).

Total herd immunity won't be achieved without it.

Its also probably nearly impossible in the US, seeing how the anti-vax movement thrives.

It thrives because not enough of them are dying.

I've said this before and will say it again, some folks aren't going to get it until they get it themselves.

I should have more emotions over folks that refuse to accept reality on their deathbed, but I don't. It also directly addresses the problem you are addressing.

For example, the number of Pastors claiming the coronavirus is a hoax or they can cure it themselves is dropping, in part because of the grand irony of how many of them are getting it themselves and dying from it.

this could go in the reopening the economy thread too

i don't have a clip of it, but the good ole goper lt. gov of tx was on fox totally discrediting the cdc and fauci specifically by name...actually said "he's been wrong about everything he's said" even while this dip****'s boss, the gov, is trying to get more adherence to the cdc measures

good ole fox news and the delusional sick-headed state of the vast majority of gop supporters

both institutions need to be entirely exorcised to have a better-in-every-way society imv :)

(yes, the cdc has had issues too, and under the circumstances of a facile new pandemic-causing virus, and most significantly factoring in operation under this pathetically malign, ignorant, and incompetent admin and its colluding, obfuscating, generally unethical and immoral goper congress, i'm surprised and impressed they've done as well as they have)

Just 50% of Americans plan to get a COVID-19 vaccine. Here’s how to win over the rest

Within days of the first confirmed novel coronavirus case in the United States on 20 January, antivaccine activists were already hinting on Twitter that the virus was a scam—part of a plot to profit from an eventual vaccine.

Nearly half a year later, scientists around the world are rushing to create a COVID-19 vaccine. An approved product is still months, if not years, away and public health agencies have not yet mounted campaigns to promote it. But health communication experts say they need to start to lay the groundwork for acceptance now, because the flood of misinformation from antivaccine activists has surged.

Such activists have “kicked into overdrive,” says Neil Johnson, a physicist at George Washington University who studies the dynamics of antivaccine groups on social networks. He estimates that in recent months, 10% of the Facebook pages run by people asking questions about vaccines have already switched to antivaccine views.

Recent polls have found as few as 50% of  people in the United States are committed to receiving a vaccine, with another quarter wavering. Some of the communities most at risk from the virus are also the most leery: Among Black people, who account for nearly one-quarter of U.S. COVID-19 deaths, 40% said they wouldn’t get a vaccine in a mid-May poll by the Associated Press and the University of Chicago. In France, 26%  said they wouldn’t get a coronavirus vaccine.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is now working on a plan to boost “vaccine confidence” as part of the federal effort to develop a vaccine, Director Robert Redfield told a Senate committee this week.
