I feel bad for rural American because I'm not a cold-hearted ****, but this is what happens when you repeatedly vote for a party that doesn't give a **** about health care. White rural people have no one to blame but themselves for that. It's happening in NC.

He said Trump wasn’t looking out for them.

Well another day in Northern Nevada. Locally, there's empty parking lots at the local Casinos and restaurants, though I do see some restaurants are still open both inside and out with limited seating. Traffic pretty steady for a Sunday.  Home Depot and Target were mobbed for most part of the day and that's with limited hours. Saw more people wearing masks and keeping their distance but the 6 foot rule was...more guideline than rule apparently. Good thing the stores are at least promoting that 6 foot thing in a variety of ways.  People just aren't changing things up that much  would be my impression.   Know a nurse in Arizona who posted how tired and sore she was. Hands and arms scrubbed raw and ready to cry due to the large number of isolation patients they have at the hospital she works at.  Arizona reported 152 positives earlier today I believe.

I’ve seen that but I wanted to see their proposed solutions.

Also, what is that Trump tweet supposed to mean?

From what I could tell:

- The first bullet point gives at least an idea of what Dems propose: language that incentivizes businesses to not firing employees when/if they get gubmint relief

- Stronger restraints (or any restraints) on how bailout funds are allocated

- Significant increase in monetary relief to hospitals (which may mean less relief to big bidniz)

- Stronger buyback restrictions that can't be overturned later

- Longer period for not increasing executive compensation

- EDIT: Giving the airline industry grants instead of loans; airline unions believe loans will result in layoffs due to having to repay them, I'm guessing

Their proposals? Not sure, guess that's what was being negotiated up until McConnell had it put to a vote (some say prematurely as a PR move to either force Dems to acquiesce and pass the bill or to at least make them look EEE-vil in the public's eyes for voting against it). I did notice that of the complaints by the Repubs that I have read, almost none of them criticized the "asks" put forth by the Dems, just criticisms of the Dems for not voting "yes" on the bill. So either Dems have not offered any counter-proposals (which I personally find hard to believe, but hell, you never know) or Repubs felt that Dems would never hold up a bill that got money directly into the voters' pockets and played that card instead of playing the "Dems' proposals are outrageous" card...possibly because that would mean bringing the Dems' proposals to light, which the public might look at as reasonable requests.

EDIT: some details on those asks:

Democrats initially asked for $750 billion in state aid, and Republicans have countered with far less.

Schumer and Pelosi are also seeking an additional $200 billion for hospitals and other health-care providers as part of a supplemental government spending bill included in the overall rescue package. The White House had initially sought $48 billion for federal agencies, and Republicans upped that total to $242 billion, including $75 billion for hospitals. Democrats want to further increase it to $450 billion.

"A lot of people are saying herd immunity might be what we need"

Governors are leading the response, all we need from Trump and his creepy silver monkey are tests and medical equipment.  I wish he’d just focus on that and otherwise go back to spreading corona virus amongst his friends at Mar-a-lago.

Most of the quarantine rules are being made by governors,   Not sure what authority he actually has to end stay at home orders etc...

if governors and mayors are saying one thing and Fox and Trump are saying another.  Which will Trump supporters feeling anxious from being cooped up and stocking up on guns and ammo listen to?

This doesn't make sense. I'm not blaming rural hospitals or their staffs for their problems, I'm blaming white rural GOP supporters.

If this is effective for 75% of the population, but one of the other things that are being looked at turns out would be effective for 90% of the population, then by rushing forward with this and ignoring the other, you're killing a lot of people.

This is just speculation here, so far no other drug is more effective than chloroquine. More and more professors are asking for it and I believe them just because they have the experience and knowledge. The drug is known, it's cheap, more and more infected people are reporting very good results.

You're killing a lot of people by not releasing a drug which has a 75% efficiency in the meantime other labs can test the few other promising drugs ( remdesivir, lopinavir, ritonavir).

You said "ignoring the others", I didn't and will never say that. I disagree, rushing to release a known drug will never stop other medical studies. Labs have decided to conduct clinical trials on other drugs they are testing all the few options they have without ignoring/impairing others.

The poiticians and some medias are more dangerous !

Covid-19: end of the game ?! (G Translated)

This was the resounding assertion made on February 26 last by the best infectious disease specialist in the world (according to the expertscape ranking), yet greeted with skepticism and even sarcasm by the scientific community. Three weeks later, reality is proving him right. Revealing in passing that we would have almost everything wrong in the face of the virus. Which is actually great news!

I appeal to my colleagues in the Faculty of Medicine and other university institutes to stop producing and peddling false and anxiety-provoking models. These experts protect themselves by recognizing as a precaution of language the outrageous character of their formalizations, the journalists scrupulously mention it (it is to their credit), we do not less diligently build a feeling of end of the world which not only doesn’t has absolutely no place to be, but moreover is itself deeply harmful!

the choice to let immunity build by letting the virus circulate appeared to be too dangerous. The risk for vulnerable people is such that it would be ethically untenable to take this direction, due to the seriousness of the possible consequences.

The Chinese study confirmed this effectiveness in a group of affected patients ( in vivo ). Following this study, the prescription of chloroquine was incorporated into the recommendations for the treatment of coronavirus in China and Korea, the two countries which have succeeded in controlling the epidemic…

Why talk to you about this? Well because Professor Raoult and his teams are the best specialists in the world today in the use of chloroquine. In particular, he had the brilliant idea of trying it against intracellular bacteria (which penetrate cells like viruses), in particular Ricksettia. The Marseille IHU therefore has unparalleled clinical and pharmacological experience in the use of this molecule.

Chloroquine has also demonstrated potent therapeutic efficacy against most coronaviruses , including the dreaded memory loss SARS . Raoult therefore found in the Chinese clinical trial confirmation that chloroquine was also indicated against Covid-19.

However, he was greeted like a hair on the soup ( to happen at the most awkward moment ), his colleagues immediately denigrating his proposal. Le Monde newspapers even went so far as to qualify his communication as "fake news", an accusation taken up on the website of the Ministry of Health for a few hours before being withdrawn.

These 15 companies are working on coronavirus treatments or vaccines — here’s where things stand

Any effective drug from any lab on this planet will be a blessing. Until then stay Safe.

Edit: 64 years old Mayor of Nice has just recovered (chloroquine) 6 days after being infected.

Another one testifying suffering from covid (and asthma) with a high viral load and scanner showing lung problems was put on chloroquine last friday.

She felt the positive effect of the drug no longer than the next day, today she's fine.

Israel’s leading drug producer announced Thursday it will donate 6 million doses of anti-malaria drugs to the United States in hopes that it could be helpful treating coronavirus symptoms.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries says the drug could potentially treat people with the coronavirus and will ship the hydroxychloroquine tablets through wholesalers nationwide by the end of the month and will provide 10 million doses in total

Are there any blue states that haven’t expanded Medicaid under Obamacare?

Same thing in a number of locations I’ve been through from Va to Col.  I’m not real sure I understand the gain from shutting down restaurants/casinos if everyone is just going to flood into grocery stores?  I’ve only seen one mask worn in Greeley, Co. and that was on a snowman.....

I do know that the “herbal stores” in Colorado are being very diligent in enforcing the number and 6 ft limits.  Only 10 ppl, including employees in at one time and stand on the Xs taped along the perimeter of the floor in the waiting room.
