He barely played as a Junior. His best grade wasn't from the year he was drafted.

But I also think it means hes close to his ceiling. Which is a perennial 10 sack guy. Which is great and all, but people are hyping him like hes the next L.T. or somn, and therefore wont even consider other options such as Simmons. Its just a little too much hype IMO, but like I said Im a former OSU fan thats been spoiled. He is same level as N. Bosa. Which is very very good. But not L.T good. Here's the thing about CY though. Looking back a few years, Aaron Donald was by far the most polished guy I'd ever seen at the DT position. His speed, and hand usage/body balance just blew me away watching his Pitt highlights. I told all my friends that dude was way too good to be a 2nd rounder, that he was a top 10 guy. Lo and behold all the mock draft "experts" who had him pegged as a 2nd rounder due to his height/weight were just plain dumb. The point of all that? I see many of the same traits in CY as I did watching Donald a few years ago. Donald was excellent coming out of college, probably one of the most proficient to come out in 20ish years. What did he do in the NFL? He improved tremendously on what was already a really good base skillset coming out of college, and is damn near unblockable as a pro. THAT is the kind of dominance you're likely to see with CY. He's that good and that fast. I know they're different positions, but Donald is the guy CY compares best to, as far as dominance. Donald absolutely DOMINATED his college competition just like CY did, and in the NFL he continued that. I see the same for CY.. he's that much better than his contemporaries. If you could go back in time knowing what you know now about Donald, would you draft him #1 or 2?? Of course you would. Young is the same type of dude, different positions, but essentially the same guy dominance wise.

I definitely would draft him with #1 or #2...but I'd have to take the time machine a bit further back and not trade for the RG3 pick.

That's the kind of guy you're signing up for with Chase. Just like Donald was head and shoulders above everyone else, Young is as well. I'd be ecstatic with 10 years of Aaron Donald type dominance on the D line.

While nice, I think that list shows how bad PFF is. That top 25 list is pretty painful, with a few great players, a grand canyon of recency bias, and mostly just players that are massive disappointments or outright failures.

Anselmheifer
I could watch Chase Young porn all day. There's one thing I noticed this time while watching him that I thought was interesting technique wise. I've seen a lot of other edge players run the loop with great bend. They dip and stay low as they round the corner. Chase does this too, but he also has a super effective very sudden/brief low shoulder dip. He explodes out of his stance and just as he's about to reach/pass the OL, he dips super low for just a moment, just long enough to go by, and then explodes back into an upright position as he passes the OL and continues to the QB. He does this against Wisconsin at 1:13 in the video and against Penn St at 1:55 against Penn St again at 2:40. So fun to watch. Also, at 2:29, watching him grab, stop Jonathan Taylor's momentum and bring him down with one hand is one of multiple examples of his reach and power. If we take Tua, I really hope Chase doesn't fall to an NFCE team.

No doubt Donald is great but Rams didnt go anywhere until the franchise QB arrived... the question for 2014 draft is would you rather have Donald at #2 or would have trade back with Miami and get CJ Mosley, Zack Martin, and Kelvin Benjamin. This is assuming that we decide to stick with Haskins....

Not sure I would call it a jinx. You take the best path for the team. There is a good argument for going both ways. The bigger point is the OP was pre-mature.
