I literally follow the forum rules about cutting down what you’re quoting to the part that’s relevant to what you’re talking about, to avoid clutter. You and some others seem to think that’s me ignoring everything else you said. if I didn’t quote that part, it’s because I have nothing to add, it’s not relevant, and it’s part of the board rules. Often it’s because I agree with (or otherwise have no problem with) the rest of the post. 🤷♂️ Quote 11. Please do not use the “Quote” feature to quote pics, gifs, vids, or any large sections of text.It unnecessarily extends and clutters threads and is annoying. Edit them out. If you would like to respond to the contents of a particular post, you can simply highlight text, click the popup that floats over it, and it just quotes that text. When on mobile, if you quote a post with an image in it, simply tap the image in the quote box to highlight it & hit backspace on your keyboard to delete it. it’s certainly not some tricky or clever gotcha move like you and others seem to think it is. Ive already explained this. 13 minutes ago, PleaseBlitz said: Every gun owner is a perfectly responsible gun owner if you ask them. And if you read the COUNTLESS times I advocated for training as long as you feel there is value, as well as the actual conversation being held (that you need months and months of training to properly store guns [no you don’t]) it doesn’t make sense. In fact - jumping to misuse the dunning Kruger syndrome, might…. 😂

It’s about knowing a little about something and then being over confident about your knowledge on that subject based on what little you do know. Eg playing a flight simulator on your phone and then thinking you could land a plane in an emergency. Your statement “you don’t need much training” followed by “even though statistics show guns in the home show an increase in gun injuries in the home, I’m smarter than most people when it comes to gun safety and therefore the data doesn’t apply” seems to fit that description. I think you’d be able to see it if you weren’t so prideful. it has nothing to do with being dumb or not. It’s about being arrogant. Whelp…. id bet that smart people get into trouble with the dunning Kruger effect more often than dumb people…. bearrock
https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamapediatrics/fullarticle/2733158?guestAccessKey=8248b8a2-3f76-4e0a-b003-2f84f2b4a180 &utm_source=For_The_Media&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=ftm_links&utm_content=tfl&utm_term=051319 Quote This modeling study using Monte Carlo simulation estimated that 6% to 32% of youth firearm deaths (by suicide and unintentional firearm injury) could be prevented, depending on the probability that an intervention motivates adults who currently do not lock all household firearms to instead lock all guns in their home. One really has to compare the utility of a gun vs the danger. Yes, a gun could prove useful in self defense during a break in. But at what cost? Assuming gun safe (extra time if ammunition locked separately) and trigger locks, how much advance notice do you need for that gun to do it's job? What does it add to the situation that a loud blaring home security system wouldn't? If the intruder is going to ignore the alarm and is intent on a showdown with you, yeah I guess that's about the only time. If someone was that out to get you, however, there are much easier ways to get you then a break-in. It's even less useful in public. That one in a million chance where it's you and the mass shooter down a dark alley facing off like the OK Corral? You're much safer charting a quick exit route whenever in public. Any potential gun owner also has to take very honest self assessment of depression and suicide. If you have older kids, I would come pretty damn close to making that gun locked down like a nuclear bomb with multi layer security because if they know how to access the gun, a bad teenager day/moment could turn into a really bad day. Lastly, if you have kids and they have friends over, do the right thing and let their parents know that you have firearms in the house. Your comfort level regarding proximity of guns and your children may not match theirs. 2

China
Defense wants to exclude Nikolas Cruz’s swastikas, racial slurs, animal abuse, child porn searches A photograph showed an etched swastika on the AR-15 rifle that detectives said Nikolas Cruz used during the 2018 Valentine’s Day massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The investigation also revealed Cruz displayed swastikas on his boots and a racial slur on his backpack. On the internet, he searched for mass killings and child pornography, and he shared animal abuse on social media, prosecutors said. Cruz’s lead defense attorney, Melisa McNeill, asked Broward County Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer to keep this evidence away from the 12 jurors and 10 alternates who will serve in the upcoming death penalty trial. “There is no evidence that these crimes were sexually or racially motivated, the only purpose the State could have in presenting such evidence would be to inflame the jury,” Cruz’s defense attorneys wrote in a motion. Scherer considered the motion during a pre-trial hearing on Wednesday in Fort Lauderdale. Prosecutors argued that introducing the evidence during the death penalty trial is necessary to disprove the defense’s claim of Cruz’s intellectual disability. “It is not a pretty picture; it is an ugly picture, but that is who the defendant is,” Assistant State Attorney Jeff Marcus said during the hearing. The prosecution’s witness, Michael Brannon, a Coral Springs-based forensic psychologist, said he reviewed the records in the case and the evidence suggests a diagnosis of mental disorders. Yeah, I'm sure he had good intentions on raising his kid but clearly it didn't take. He should be investigated, but I am sure the only thing that he'll be charged with is stupidity for signing off on that affidavit. I know all parents (me included) think our kids are little angels who can do no harm, but at some point you need to remove emotion from the situation...and in this case, realize that your son is a burgeoning psychopath. 1

How many of us know siblings who were raised by the same parents but turn out completely different? Parents only have so much influence…. Children don’t live in a bubble/vacuum. They have many influences beyond their parents. I don’t give parents too much credit or blame for their children. 1
