Even though I would traditionally align with comservatives on immigration (prolly not so kuch anymore), guns, and abortion -- I can't support the GOP party.

 

Trump is exactly what "the base" wanted post Obama.  Someone as conspiratorial crazy, obnoxious fighter for them and they crowded out all the adults in the room, not surprising it would lead to the worst President. 

 

Unfortunately many moderate GOP do not see this... intentional or not, they want to cater to the "Alex Jones, Glenn Beck, Stephen Miller wing".  A coalition of deep state conspiratorialists (even though an anti deep state President can obviously shut it down), moral majority remnant, the proud boys, and your run of the mill anti communist 2nd amendment red blooded patriots, as well as wealthy anti-tax conservatives. 

 

None of these people criticize the others because... they all gain from the relationship.

Can we utilize the same fact checking system Twitter did to chase these idiots away, so that we can convince them to quit the country and move somewhere else?

 

I will happily pay more taxes to deploy Fact Checkers around the country to follow these people around so that every time they say something dumb the Fact Checker can step in with

“This information is disputed by experts and the opinion this person just gave has no known basis in reality”

if it means these people pack their **** and leave

 

or just leave we can incinerate what they don’t take with them I don’t care anymore.

If this vaccine stuff is true, it’s going to be great news for Joe. He may be able to get the pandemic behind him fairly quickly and I imagine the president that actually moves us past covid, reopens the country, opens schools, sees a dramatic drop in unemployment and a stock market surging after all of this would be pretty popular going into 2022 midterms

I have the exact same situation with a friend of mine, except for an amount more manageable for us non-lawyers.  $100.

 

We bet in April after I had seen enough Trump press conferences to know there was no way he could possibly be re-elected.  It's actually concerning to me that he got as many votes that he did.

 

But my buddy paid up this weekend and said that Trump just needed to stop with this nonsense on Thursday.  He's very pro-Trump when it comes to most policy and everyday stuff like gas prices and his 401k.  He does admit that he's embarrassing to our country, but does actually believe that Trump only ran for president because he loves the country vs. his ego.

I'll just note that the $1,000 figure was a product of lots and lots of alcohol at a mutual friends birthday party and I would never do something like that otherwise.

Yea, I think it will be interesting to see my buddy's reaction.  I don't think he'll blame fraud or whatever, but I'm sure he'll have some sort of excuse or defense or whatever.  I'll go well prepared to destroy is psyche if necessary.

You know inauguration used to be March 4. During FDR ‘s time it was changed to Jan.20.

 

Except for a disputed election like 2000; do we really need to wait until Jan. 20.

 

Congress comes in usually around the 3rd.  Maybe we move back the inauguration by 2 weeks to Jan. 5. The new president should be able to take over when congress does.
