Trump and his cabinet/buffoonery- Get your bunkers ready!

Got a new roommate at work. Dude is a Trump supporter. Asked him why and he responds because he just likes him. Asked why and it’s because he’s untouchable. Said he hopes he wins again.

Asked Ed if he likes any of the other democratic candidates that could be running against him he couldn’t answer but did say he doesn’t like socialism. Asked if he knew what socialism is and his response  was like Venezuela.

I changed the subject to my dog.

Dude is Filipino and is the first generation American born in his family.

One of the most frustrating parts about modern day politics is trying to have a conversation with people who just throw around autonomous terms with little to no understanding of what they are saying.

"I don't like socialism" ok great, way to take a stand, can we now address actual issues regarding the 2020 elections?

But why should they stop? They never face any real world repercussions for all of the lying and shifting stories. This admin is such a non-stop train wreck that there's almost not enough time for actual outrage to seep in whenever Trump does or says something offensive/stupid/dangerous.

Oh, you're 100% right, why should they stop? There's literally zero motivation for Trump to stop anything he's been doing. The House can vote to impeach him with 100% yes votes and since Mitch is leading the Senate it simply won't matter. There's simply NO ONE to hold Trump accountable for anything. He knows that he can do and say whatever he wants and it won't cost him a single ****ing vote. All the while the Dems run around in a total **** show like a monkey ****ing a football slashing their wrists over every word Trump says, and yeah I get don't accept and don't normalize, but hell it already is. Until the accountability structures change then Trump can scream the N-word from the roof of the White House skull ****ing a prostitute as he hands the keys to the NSA over to Putin and none of those ****ers will even flinch in their support. We've watched it for 3+ years now.

They don't care, and Trump knows that he has loyalists in all the key places.

One thing I wonder is once Trump is out of the WH how many of his Republican enablers in Congress will try to pull a Paul Ryan and claim they were working against Trump the whole time and talk about how bad he was.

And I'm not sure which is sadder...that they'll probably all try it, or that it will probably succeed with their voters.

I'm not even sure what the best case scenario is, post-Trump. In a way, I'd be fine with his rabid base continuing to move further right until they won't support anyone with a R next to their name unless they're openly white nationalist. On the other hand, I'd also like some sort of sane conservative voices.

I did try to educate him on what the range of socialistic ideas. The difference between Venezuela and Finland. And then I tried to get into why he only ever heard of one of them and not the other. But I could tell I was talking to a man that not only didn’t know anything about his own opinion, but didn’t care to know. So I just left him alone after that.

Its sad because you can’t beat ignorance like that without facts. And facts don’t matter now. Dude doesn’t even believe in education. Just sees it as a way to get more money. It’s sad.

Just in case you didn't love David Simon and The Wire enough already:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/arts-entertainment/2019/07/30/wire-creator-david-simon-criticizes-trump-baltimore-comments-takes-twitter-trolls/

The term ****gnome is EVERYTHING.

Holy **** this is amazing.

Quote

Few wield expletives as vigorously as Simon. Mere profanity is crass, but alongside elevated vocabulary it can come across as artful, and there is arguably no one else as adept at mixing words like “scrote” and “taint” with discussions about “systemic, national affronts to American urbanity.”

He insulted mothers in crude, sexualized and unprintable terms.

He called someone a “gibbering, submenial troll” whose “fulminant stupidity is relentless and Homeric.” Another a “two-dimensional . . . moron.” He called the trolls “bots” with a “c-grade algorithm.” Another, a “low-bottom piece of gutter-hype.”

At one point on Sunday, he took a break from combating the “ample supply of bots, trolls and the occasionally earnest, but entirely lobotomized Trumpist.”

An interesting story on WaPo:

Republicans don’t think Trump’s tweets are racist. That fits a long American history of denying racism.

Holy ****knuckles this is scary.

Quote

Take one other seemingly clear-cut example of racism: the use of the n-word to describe African Americans. Polls show that Democrats and Republicans increasingly disagree on whether the n-word is offensive. Indeed, the percentage of Republicans who consider the word offensive or unacceptable has actually declined in recent years.

As of 2018, only 33 percent of self-reported Trump voters said that it was racist for whites to use the n-word, compared to 86 percent of Clinton voters.

Ok, so nearly 70% of Trump voters thinking it's ok to use the n-word. That's...pretty bad, but not exactly unexpected (still...Jesus Christ, seriously??). But the overall decline since Trump was elected of Republicans saying it isn't racist to use that word is VERY telling.

One thing I really want to know as well...who in the actual **** are these 14% of Clinton voters who think it's ok to use the n-word?

FOX and Rush have made sure that there are no longer sane conservative voices. They created the madman that currently sits as our king, and they do everything they can to make sure the next one will be even crazier.
