Redskins / Patriots Prediction Thread: Permanent Waves

skins island connection

Recommended Posts

When: Sunday November 8

Where: Gilette Stadium Foxboro

'If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice'. A great lyric with many different variations of interpretation.

History lesson; The cover of Rush Permanent Waves was a photo of the seawall in my hometown in Galveston Texas during hurricane Carla. A quick look at the cover shows a woman and waves crashing, but the longer you look at the photo the more you see.

Why is that relevant ?  A number of reasons.

A quick look at this match-up tells most that the Redskins shouldn't bother making the trip.

There's more to a photo than first meets the eye.

Traditions and iconic places, such as the now gone Balinese Room eventually bow to time.

Time always, always wins.

Sunday, the Redskins travel north to face the unbeaten Patriots in what seems to be a sure loss for the burgundy & gold. But is it?

Tom Brady is having another great year, and the entire Patriots team is having a great year, which comes from pure discipline confidence and strategy.

But every icon or landmark eventually meets its destiny, so to speak. Sure, they are a well oiled well coached and well executing team, and it takes an equally patient and confident team to give them a run for their money.

It can be done; the Jets gave them fits for awhile but were outcoached and outplayed in the 2nd half; THAT will be the biggest difference in this game.

A week ago, we watched this Redskins team go down 24-0 at one point; did they give up? No, not in the least. They made some adjustments, kept their heads up high regardless, and kept fighting, and slowly but surely the Redskins came back and ended up winning that game against a scrappy Bucs team who just happened to beat the Falcons, which most people never gave them a chance either, right?

Facts are facts; the Pats are the 80's Redskins; they kept finding ways to win. I'm not going to say with confidence that the Redskins WILL in fact win in Foxboro, but it is possible, through leadership, game planning, and 60 minutes of playing smart but aggressive football. If that happens it could very well be a win for the Redskins. This isn't the 2014 team who mailed it in at halftime; no, they fight regardless of score. Yes we have an up & down QB in Cousins, but we hopefully will be getting DJax back, which will be a great motivational factor, and he is itching to get back on the field, so its not an automatic loss for this team; if you think so, then you should go mow the lawn or something, but I will be eagerly anticipating this Redskins team going up there and giving Brady and the Pats all they can handle.

Look for this game to be a quick 7-0 Pats, and a lower scoring game in the first half than many think; maybe 13-6 or 14-10. The 2nd half will be the telltale of this game. Adjustments will be the deciding factor, and i'll go on a limb and say that an unsuspecting player will have a career game for us.

will it be enough?

When the dust settles and the playbook goes out the window,

Redskins 31

Patriots 37

* but this score could very well be switched, so don't be too surprised.

And don't forget, first correct score prediction wins a new Redskins cap or beanie.

AFC on the road, against the best team in the NFL. Brutal.

Since the merger we are 6-33 on the road against AFC teams with winning records. The Pats are really unbelievable to watch. Brady gets the ball out in 2 seconds all based on pre-reads. It is almost impossible to stop. I think this is ugly to start to finish.

The Bad Guys: 27

The Good Guys: 28

If both our starting corners are back, we might be able to minimize (as much as possible) Brady's passing game. They still score, but they only come away with 3 TDs and 2 FGs.

Kirk has an alright game with 2 passing touchdowns and 0-1 pick(s). Matt Jones gets a TD. Chris Thompson gets a TD.

We start out pretty good (1 TD), then Belichick starts to score and we shut down. We come out the locker room after half time and get 3 TDs (one being the game winning).

HTTR!

My hearts Gonna cheer like crazy for a Redskin upset, but my brain knows the outcome next week. We will be the second of 4 losses our division will suffer against the Pats. Love we get the Saints at home, they are a different team on grass and on the road.

Simply put our HC and staff stand no chance game plan wise vs Belichick and Brady.

Also, our LBs and safeties vs Gronk?? Ouch...Perry Riley is in for a long day.

Could get ugly - 49 - 17

Let's go Bucs!

It's just not fair... Giants lose to the Saints, Cowboys keep losing, and a chance next week for us to keep pace for the top of our division... gone down the drain. The only way we have a chance against the Pats is let Kerrigan hide a bar of kryptonite under his shoulder pads to weaken Super Tom.

Redskins - 17 (scrub points)

Pats - 42

The beginning of at least, a 3 game losing streak. The skins will fall to 3-7 when we met the Giants again.

The Pats game will be the worst coached game of Gruden's career.  Kirk will have a game that will rival the Giants game from last year.

It will be ugly.  The comeback Bucs win; will be a distant memmory.

Kirk will have 4 turnovers at least.  The game will be over by the end of the first quarter.

Okay, it probably won't be that bad.

It will be the worst game ever for Gruden and Cousins though and it will start the team on a 3 game losing streak at least.
