and I ended up just 40 minutes shy of finishing "Once Upon A Time in Hollywood..." on the flight.  I probably would have but lost interest.

Not sure I care about finishing this one even.  Sure the story is weaved around true events, and the style is good. But the script is kind've average.  Felt it was like that recent movie set in LA about the child actor dating the 20 year old.

Fairly straightforward plots with spectacular effects that appear to building toward something even more grand in the 3rd or 4th one coming.  Live action Fern Gully The Last Rainforest. The first movie just works. It’s fun, it’s entertaining, it doesn’t really try to be anything more than it is which is a jaw dropping action movie with an anti-capitalist and anti-racism message. Seems like the second one is pretty similar.

and they are historic. Nobody is saying they are T2 or that it’s Casablanca but they are historic movies imo. I recently watched 1 and despite coming out in 2009 it holds up really well.

That’s about the best I can do. It’s fun entertainment that is porn for your eyeballs. You know what, just go with that

get your eyeballs something nice this holiday season.

Because it’s a piece of cinematic art. It’s why people go to the movies.

Or you could stay home and come back with the tried and true “I watched some trending movie on Netflix with Marky Mark that I never heard of and it was okay.” 😆

Saw the Whitney Houston biopic, I Wanna Dance With Somebody. Gets a solid A. It focus more on 1983-1994 but does go a little beyond that on key events. Her attempted comeback and of course her death.

The actress did a great job portraying her and learned a couple about Whitney that I didn’t know; if they are accurate.

Saw Avatar 2

More of the same as the first, in a variety of ways.

Hits on a lot of the same story beats as the first film. It actually almost retells the exact same story to be honest.

The visuals are mind-blowing and the implementation of 3D is sublime.

Great "camera-work", everything is easy to track and read

Its the kinda thing you go to the movies for. Big spectacle and pretty to look at, so like the first I enjoyed watching it. The story aint winning no awards tho.

it was nuts but it was fun. I think it got truly absurd in the final 30 minutes that distracted a bit from the rest especially when a lost actors start showing up left and right out of nowhere

We started it the other night but just couldn't get into it.  We were going to get stoned and try it again or is it even worth the weed?

Watched The Invitation last night on Netflix and thought it was a totally different "The Invitation" movie.  It took me about 30 minutes to realize that it wasn't the one I thought it was lol. Apparently the one I thought it was came out in like 2015 and this one came out in 2022.

And it ended up being REALLY bad.  It started out interesting/decent but there is a clear point in the movie where it just gets completely stupid and made me facepalm and it just goes downhill from there.

Saw it on Christmas Day and had similar thoughts.

The family and I discussed it at the dinner table last night and came to the conclusion that there were some big holes in the story.

Same cast of characters, same story, different circumstances/details.

We’d recommend reviewing the first beforehand.

Dont regret watching it… it has some redeeming qualities…. but it’s not a must-see (strong recommendation).

I watched “Cyrus”.  It was from 2010 and I had never heard of it.  But it had John C. Reilly, Marisa Tomei, Jonah Hill, and Catherine Keener.  John C Reilly and Keener are divorced, but still involved in each other's lives.  Reilly meets Tomei, a single mom living with her 22 yo son (Hill). Written by the Duplass brothers.  I enjoyed it.

I got the same headache reading the plot on the wiki page as I did reading the one for Black Adam...

Can't do it, hard pass...

Don't feel bad about it. Some people need an actual coherent story to go along w/ their movie.

Us smooth brains can just see two giant monsters fighting for absolutely no reason and be perfectly entertained. Its a blessing and a curse.

Nah, I was raised on Godzilla movies, lolz, what I don't like is a whole bunch of random names that make no sense doing what seems like random stuff.

If I gotta be like "who's this and who's that" the whole movie and going in feels like more work then it's worth, pass on going to movies to see it.

Jake with who'o does what'o with the why'o?

I'd of been fine with jus one Alien Pocahantas where natives win and John Smith stays instead of losing and Pocahantas going back to UK.  Couple plot holes I'm not sure I want to try and plug either with this sequel.

It comes on Netflix, sure...maybe...two kids under two, I only have time for movies that are bad or don't makes sense if I think I'll enjoy it anyway, like original Sharknado.

Emily the Criminal - big fat "meh".  It's alright but nothing special.  I am not sure if it was made for Netflix but it feels like one of those "made for Netflix" movies as far as how good/bad it is as well as the quality of the movie.
