He hasn't been productive in years, more of a catch and fall jag for quite a while. He blocked Goedert and Trey for years for no real good reason. I get signing him, we had nothing at the position, and he's a good mentor. But Ertz is a roster clogger for the purposes of Sinnott's career beyond '24. I'm hoping he can just mentor him well for a year, and that's a wrap. The past two years he's ranked in the 20s and 30s in most efficiency ratings (though I will say target separation and cushion #'s aren't as bad as I would've expected). I imagine the 1 year deal underlines this. He comes in, mentors him, that's a wrap. Still, surprised that he does still have some metrics where he's in that 10th-15th area, not bad for a mid thirty year old, especially the metrics that they are. Kingsbury must love him some Ertz....he was the first FA signed this offseason.

COWBOY-KILLA-
This is a guy that is going to benefit greatly from a nutritional and weight training program. Could become an absolute monster.
cakmoney61
This could be a real turn of events. To go from being abused by TEs for years without a TE of their own to suddenly having a TE that can actually threaten the other team. What a novel idea.🙂

Yeah I'm not referring to overall size, he's big and I would think he stays that way. I just mean the way his size is composed now will be better, leaner, and stronger while keeping his size as he gets on a legitimate program from an NFL club..

He certainly doesn't need much help with his quads or hams. He's got tree trunks from his waist to his knees. 1
Commander Chaaarmnder
This guy is going to be the 2nd coming of Chris Cooley. Hold on to your butts, he’s going to be exactly what we hope he can be. Chris Cooley 2.0+ Sinnot will do these things in the coming years: Block real good, catch a buttload of passes, be fun to watch, score touchdowns, hold a defensive lineman, hook up with a cheerleader, eat more than 2 hot dogs in one sitting, make a social media post, and make the pro bowl. We don’t need the world from this dude, we just need him to be a dude in a world full of dudes that aren’t about to dude as hard as this dude.

I think he's a more athletic and explosive Cooley. 40 inch vertical vs Cooley's 33, a full foot longer broad jump than Cooley, faster 40 time, faster 10 yard split. 1

Yeah I think the Cooley comp is bang on, that was my take well before the draft.

He's also a lot bigger too, and is probably going to be a much better blocker. Cooley had a few years where he was an OK pass blocker, but he was never any good in the run game, and on the whole, he was an undersized H-back/move TE who was a non factor as a blocker. Sinnott is a legitimately physical run blocker, and he's also very physical running after the catch. I like Heath Miller as a comparison for Sinnott. I think Sinnott's got the size and make up to be a similar impact blocking TE with great YAC value as an underneath zone weapon. 9

He came out back when they were usually supposed to be beefier. He weighed what, 265lbs coming out? He lost like 20lbs over his playing career but the expectations of the position have changed a lot. RandyHolt
Random thought of the day. If a TE doesnt have hands I would rather deploy extra OL on the roster and just declare them tackle eligible. Pass to them like crazy in preseason and then never in the regular season. Then let them plow the road; they will block better than a 250lb TE, and be stouter in pass pro / max protect. They are not ready for prime time so why not let them take out backers and DBs. Until the super blow. Then pass to them. The days of the lunk head blocking TE with no hands and no speed seem to be going the way of the old school FB. But I also don't think opponents take much stock about what happens in preseason.

Conn
The hype on Sinnott (long term) would be crazy if he was taken as the heir apparent to Kittle. He’s going to be so good for us. The 12 personnel with Ertz and Sinnott is going to be money

He recently mentioned on a pod that his agent gave him bad advice to put as much weight as possible for the combine and that included a ton of water weight he pissed out.
