That's not much of an optimistic view ... why would we sign up for that? We have the #2 overall pick. Best to take a guy who is the best long term investment. We are not a QB away from a SB or even the playoffs. Silly to draft a #2 based on who is pro ready but has a high likelihood of a truncated career vs a prospect who has a higher ceiling with the potential to become a Josh Allen or Herbert, albeit in a year or two.

I have to say that I feel incredibly deflated that we are going to pick Daniels. I just can't shake the feeling that he's going to be a complete disappointment. While I don't feel like Maye is a slam dunk, I just feel he has the tools and physical build to be a more likely elite QB. Surprised if Daniels makes it 5 years in the league without a career ending injury.

That would be a steal for us to take a guy that late and have him become a starting-quality LT
-
This is why I hope they take Maye. The better play is to use the rare opportunity to grab a guy with elite upside at #2 overall rather than a 5th year late-riser like Daniels who is who he is at this point - very little upside. That likely means the FO has to have patience in developing the QB but we have the infrastructure in place to do that now and AP has said in interviews he doesn't feel like they need to rush any rookie into the game before he's ready. I really, really hope this means they take the chance on Maye and let him sit for a few games/half the season. The reality is that this team isn't a QB away from a SB contender so it's best to roll with Mariotta and work on getting the QB ready behind the scenes while the rest of the roster gets acclimated to the new coaching/culture.

Sounds like Leno feels that Daniels >>> Maye -

Excellent news. I think both are "getable" at our draft pick at the top of the second round. -

Who are the best prospects amongst draft candidates at the tackle position when it comes to arm length? Maybe one of those guys falls into the top of the 2nd round? -

I'd rather not trade anything. For us, the draft picks are just too valuable. But yeah, FS could be a good one. Luckily, we were able to grab a couple of CB already. Does this guy even know what he's talking about? Advocating for tying up a roster spot with a QB4? -

As did I. Here's to hoping we've definitively upgraded at that spot and our draft picks from last year at least demonstrate they've elevated their game to "reliable backup" level. -

The reality is that we won't be asking Ekeler to be "the guy". We have a bell cow already in BRob. Ekeler just needs to be the guy he was when he was playing with Melvin Gordon III. -

You don't think Barkley fits the bill? Agree with you that I don't know why they aren't resigning Swift. He was really good for them last year. -

I guess the hope this time around is that we have real chefs and not short order cooks doing the cooking Eagles? -

Probably not a bad strategy given how depleted the talent is at that position group. My only concern is that there might just not be enough talent on the market to sign a bunch of players. We may be left with the draft to make the numbers. -

Realistically, I'm just hoping for one starter. Assume we take 1-2 in the draft. But yeah, ideally we sign two in FA (center and tackle). -

The OL market is thin - I'm hoping if we make a move on day 1 or 2 of FA, that's where we focus -
