If that's the case, will really limit us to retreads. NFL is a league where the brightest HCs come from the coordinator ranks. Not prior HCs. -
I had no one specific in mind - was just spitballing. Would be good to get one of their offensive position coaches as an OC, though.

To me, this is the only way this makes any sense. Factor in that Peters comes from SF and it's possible that he had one or two candidates from SF on his short list all along.

The fact that we haven't come right out and signed Quinn tells me he might not be the guy. But agree with most on this board that this is uncharted territory. Very strange.

Ok - but you have who you have .... unfortunately, we don't have the luxury of an unlimited pool of experienced candidates. You know who your candidates are going in and you have to attack. Was impressed that they did so with the GM hire but seemed totally unprepared for what to do with HC once their (presumed) top candidate was off the board.

Why wait if Quinn was the guy? What are we waiting for? For all of the coordinator candidates to go off the board, too?

If they wanted Quinn so badly, why wait so long to hire him? We couldn't have sewn it up a while ago. This smacks of the FO not being prepared and now settling for leftover candidates.

Oh well, looks like we get the leftovers. Some things never change. Doesn't look like the new owner/GM has made us a more attractive landing spot for a top HC.

This will be a very hard lesson for new ownership if they go this route. Good luck rebuilding the fanbase and selling tickets. Especially when we are sub-.500 four seasons into the Quinn regime.

Is anyone concerned about the game Ben Johnson called? I know conventional wisdom has him as the top HC candidate out there but I can't shake an uneasy feeling about him not keeping his foot on the gas in the second half vs. the 49ers.
