Many teams have their OL set the protection. Especially with a young quarterback. Eventually, the idea is that the QB is able to set protections, but it’s not an automatic like you make it sound like it is. 
 

Centers don’t look backwards when they shotgun snap bro :ols:

Where do you get this stuff sometimes? Whole reason we brought in Gates given his experience was for his ability to call protections. Highly doubt we’re having Howell do that this early in his career. A blitzer is definitely part of the OL’s responsibility
