Good post, however, Derek Barnett is not a big name free agent and the Eagles were trying to deal him away up until today's deadline. This dude broke Reggie White's sack record at Tennessee and has been a stiff in the NFL. That's what's being reported here in Philly on the sports talk stations by the beat guys.

It's going to be pretty easy to top this last offseason.

We should follow the Jags model of re-tooling and spend hard in free agency while filling in holes with high draft picks. Oh, and find a good head coach who knows what he's doing in building a team the right way. We will have the money to spend and hopefully will find a GM and head coach who know how to maneuver their way around the draft and in free agency. I don't know who is next in line behind Howie Roseman but I'd get to know who that is and bring him in for an interview.

Looking at big name free agent Edge players next year, so guys who could be free agents (some of them will be resigned and won't hit free agency) are

Danielle Hunter

Carl Lawson

Marcus Davenport

Za'Darius Smith

Josh Allen (doubt Jacksonville lets him make to fee agency)

Derek Barnett

Brian Burns (if Carolina doesn't sign him its because he wants 30 million a deal and while he is good, I don't think he is good enough to warrant that because he is an elite pass defender and below average run defender)

Clellin Ferrell

Jadaveon Clowney

Yetur Gross-Matos

AJ Espensa

Josh Uche

Leonard Floyd

Jonathan Greenard

Michael Danna

I like Jonathan Greenard personally.

I think San Fran is the perfect place for Chase to be, they just need him to be a compliment and not the focus. If he balls out good for him but I dont see any way San Fran gives him a long term deal, it looks like a short term rental.

Three straight losses for the Niners and all of a suddent their defense and QB both suck. Cousing torched them and Burrow did too. I can see the Eagles signing Chase in free agency...or maybe the Browns.

I want us to fo exactly what I (and many others) wanted us to do this off season; two OL and a LB with the 1st three picks, preferable with an OL first.

We will probably be picking back end of the top 10. I think there are 3 premium blue chip LTs - we will be in a perfect spot where our need an pure BPA might coincide.

Fashanu, Latham (has played RT not LT) and Alt.

Joe Alt is a name to watch!

I’m not condoning a hit piece on his way out because I prefer the high road.  Ron clearly has no business being employed as a football czar of a pro franchise, but it’s likely if he has personal beef with Young - it’s warranted.  There have been crumbs dropped by the local folks regarding this for years.  I expect a ton more to come out over the next few days.

Oh I believe it. I wanted to trade him BEFORE the injury cause you could tell from the start of that season he had a serious attitude problem and money was all he was concerned with.

But Ron is supposed to be the leader and the man in charge. If he had that much of a problem there were hella ways to help him with his over employment problem. I just think it’s bad from a leadership spot for it to be so obvious. It never had to be like that.

I will enjoy reading them though lol. I’m a little pissed we all saw this coming and he wasn’t traded earlier. But I guess the injure maybe messed that up.

Of course we still have three potential free agents ourselves in James Smith Williams, Efe Obada, and Casey Toohill

To me the Tier 1 guys in that group are Danielle Hunter, Za'Darius Smith, Josh Allen, and Brian Burns.  I don't think Allen or Burns makes it to free agency.

The middle tier would be Marcus Davenport, Carl Lawson, AJ Espensa, Jadaveon Clowney

Everybody else on the list is a decent player, but only project as a low level starter or pass rush specialist only (not three down player).

Assuming we want to keep 5 DE's on the roster and we draft 1 and KJ Henry, and Andre Jones make the teams, that means you only can take two of the names above.  To me, you have to shot for the top tier or the middle tier to make it worthwhile.  Otherwise just bring back James Smith Williams and Casey Toohill as guys 4 and 5. If you can land a Danielle Hunter or even a mid tier guy like AJ Espensa or Marcus Davenport I would be okay with say like Obada and Toohill walk, but if we just going to get a low end starter we might as bring back the guys we already have and who are good lucky room guys.

The new GM should follow the Eagles model and try to find a DE in the middle rounds like they did with Josh Sweat and pear him with a veteran like Hassan Reddick.

Just listened to Keim on Hoffman’s show.

Sweats offer was too good to refuse.

They were all on board for trading Chase. The coaching staff didn’t feel the chemistry with the unit worked and Chase was part of that. They don’t think this team will be worse with Chase gone.

Hoffman asked Keim if they see it as addition by subtraction and Keim said you can read it between the lines that way.

So in short the coaches had no consternation about trading Chase.

Keim also suggested that they didn’t think Chase wanted back either so they’d eventually lose him

Keim thought it might end up a short term rental too but SF had enough picks where it’s OK.

I know Bosa and Chase are friends and at one point Bosa wanted to help Chase in the off season. I think it will be a good marriage for Chase for now

I still don’t get the joke (honestly) and I was too embarrassed for you to bring it up a few days ago

Well...

1) It's how you reset the computer... or end a task... Hence why that is important for this franchise.

2) Joe Alt, Notre Dame's LT.

It's an extremely clever and witty play on words. A true wordsmith came up with it, Tuddy as his witness.

Trade deadline has passed.  Why get rid of a cornerstone guy who recently signed an extension like Payne and Allen.  Doesn't make sense

I said offseason. Why, because they would be blowing things and doing a true rebuild. Tear it down and rebuild it the right way:

minor things, I wonder who takes our two roster spots.  With Stromberg banged up maybe we bring up an OL like Mason Brooks.  Possibly we bring up Jabril Cox full time, but we might also bring back William Bradley-King.  Speaking of low round DE's we drafted Shaka Toney may be back next year

I was looking at Sportrac's cap management tool and it looks like we could move on from Wylie and Gates next year.  We'd only save $133K on Gates, but Wylie's cap hit would drop $1.5 million

With our cap available we actually don't need to move on from Leno or Thomas and Curl has become our biggest name FA to re-sign

Try Ctrl - Shift - Escape next time, like a good QB when a play breaks down

What benefit would there be to getting rid of Terry?  He and Sam have a good rapport and he's a locker room leader.  He's the #1 WR here and it's not like he wants out anyway.
