    Russell Wilson played decent to good last season. He was far from the problem in Denver - but he just wasn’t what Payton wanted at any point. Wilson was doomed there the moment Payton was hired. I think he will play well for the Steelers and they have the infrastructure and team around him where they could make some noise.

    Correct - the whole of Davis four year deal was guaranteed. The 5th year option is a team option and we declined that (to no great surprise).

    He will have to earn his spot for sure. But his film and play is good enough that he justifies his place. I wouldn’t be surprised if we use some 3-4 looks in base - we kind of have the personnel for it.

    He’s at least a solid starter who only costs about $4M on the cap. I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t make the roster. How he is used will be interesting though - I’d like to see him used more in pass rush.

    We literally had the worst coaching in the NFL last season. No hyperbole - I really believe that especially on defense. Just getting competent coaching on that side of the ball will give us a big lift. That plus having NFL calibre linebackers on the roster. I do worry about where the pass rush is going to come from - it is going to have to be much more schemed than we have seen in the last few years.

    The only way is up from last year in terms of talent and coaching. But there are way too many new parts that have to come together, plus some key missing pieces (OT, possibly CB) for me to think we have a real shot at a division title this year.

    It was less we showed him the money, more we showed him the CB depth chart.

    I think he will get every opportunity to prove himself. But the current GM and HC are not tied to him in anyway, if he doesn’t perform it’s a short trip from the bench to the street.

    I’d be very surprised if Daniels is not opening day starter. I understand where you are coming from - but I’d also be surprised if we don’t make some kind of other move at OT before opening day.

    I think he gets a look at OT but ends up kicking inside and being a very very solid OG. Lucas probably starts at LT and will be serviceable - but its highly likely that our long term LT of the future is not on the roster and might not be until next year. Same with RT tbh.

    I'm having Heath Shuler flashbacks. Lets hope this highly drafted QB works out a lot better than Shuler did.

    Thats almost certainly what convinced him to come here - not just the signing and guaranteed money. He's got a really strong shot at a roster spot. OT and CB are the two spots with the biggest question marks in terms of both starters and depth.

    They are welcome to him. “PFF graded Becton 56.3 as a run blocker last year and 60.7 as a pass blocker. Among 70 offensive tackles who played at least 500 snaps last year, he ranked 53rd in run blocking and 55th in pass blocking.”

    How does a 6-1 200 corner who runs a 3.3 and has decent to good film manage to go undrafted?

    After sleeping on the draft for a day obviously Daniels will make or break this class - but I think in 3 seasons (which is when you can really grade a draft) this pick might be the steal of the draft for us. With good coaching and in the right scheme he’s going to be a very very productive slot receiver.

    I think he stopped reading when he got to the part that guarantees him $90M of which he sees $62.5M this year. After he read that paragraph he just asked where he signed.

    Jones is still there. Has to be a medical or something off field?? Also Malik Washington and Johnny Wilson are there at WR. Wilson was a guy I liked maybe as a bulk up and play move TE. Washington was really productive - could be a steal as a slot guy. But unless Jones lost a leg this week or milked someone you’d think he’s be great value at this point?
