I would think he’d still be there in the 2nd if he’s a guy we like he’s probably not someone you’d need to trade up for. Paul sounds like alot of teams from 23 to 32 like him. alaroche04
Drafting Jayden Daniels is going to be Peter's biggest mistake. RG3 all over again, except JD is a less talented version of RG3. He's going to get blown up because he doesn't protect himself, doesn't know how to slide, and doesn't go thru progressions. Maye and McCarthy are going to sit for a year, iron out their fixable deficiencies, and be the best QBs out of this class (I'm also not ruling out Penix). The Commanders wanted the QB that could start now, and it's going to cost them dearly. 4 1 3

Going Commando
3 minutes ago, MartinC said: I think there will be a run on tackles second half of the first - I wasn’t thinking Paul would be among that group personally. Could well be wrong though! Let someone reach for him. I've been going back through the the tackles, rewatched the SB practices, and he just isn't as good as Fuaga, Morgan, and Suamataia. Fuaga absolutely shut it down, he's a top ten pick and the OT1. Even Guyton had better reps, although he still had some turd reps that were in character. That guy either dominates his rep or gets utterly destroyed in the first two steps. Paul looked like a JAG and spent a bunch of the week holding. He's traitsy and his in game film is better than his practice week, but he's absolutely not a first round caliber player. He's in that late second, early third round mix with Blake Fisher and Roger Rosengarten and Caedan Wallace. I think he'll be there at 40 but I don't think he'll be anywhere close to BPA. Not even sure he would be at 67.

Benjamin Allbright 2024 NFL Mock Draft ByBenjamin Allbright Apr 24, 2024 As I think everyone at this point knows, I do one mock draft every year. This year I decided to project some trades and have some fun with it. Advance intel: -I think there is one very specific scenario in which the Broncos would trade up. I did not project that here, but if a certain QB were available at a certain point I think they would TRY. -There are a couple teams I'm aware of that are monitoring and would possibly move from the second round back into the first. The Texans and Commanders are two of those teams. I believe the Commanders want an OT. -The Bills have made calls about moving up for a WR, but as of this writing I don't see that happening. -There's a lot of talk centered around Michael Penix in the first recently. Most people I've talked to, their teams aren't considering that but could see another team doing that. I'd suggest that the leading teams to trade back in and do that would be the Patriots, Giants and possibly the Raiders (who love Jayden Daniels). -There are some WR that may be traded during the draft that could definitely shake up the outcomes (Aiyuk, Sutton). -Quite a few teams trying to burn the phones up as of this writing to get up and get their tackle. I expect a lot of trades. So without further ado... Bears - QB Caleb Williams. This is a no brainer. Everyone has known this since the Senior Bowl when they were openly shopping Justin Fields, despite reports to the contrary. Commanders - QB Jayden Daniels. Almost universally everyone I talked to had him over Drake Maye. Patriots - QB Drake Maye I really thought the Vikings might crack and make the trade to get here. Ultimately Pats take Maye. Cardinals - WR Marvin Harrison While a trade back is possible, I suspect the parties that'd be interested simply aren't willing to give enough to move them. Vikings (via LAC)* - QB JJ McCarthy Trade up! After missing on Maye, four QBs in the top 5. Vikings only give one first this year. Giants - WR Malik Nabers Several teams have him as the top WR in this draft. Titans - OT Joe Alt Don't rule out a WR here. Falcons - EDGE Dallas Turner Best coverage edge rusher for a scheme that demands their edges drop back at times. Latu in play here as well. Saints (via CHI)* - OT Olu Fashanu Saints move up and fill a huge need. Jets - TE Brock Bowers Versatile mismatch TE/ off the line Y for Aaron Rodgers. Fuaga a consideration here. Chargers (via Minn)* - OL JC Latham I think the Chargers can get quality WR help later. Eagles (via Den)* - CB Quinyon Mitchell Eagles trade up to get their corner. (give up pick 50) Raiders - CB Terrion Arnold Raiders could look to go OL here as well. Not buying Penix at 13 hype. Bears (via NO)* - DT Byron Murphy Bears land the premier IDL talent in the draft. Colts - WR Rome Odunze Slide stops here, adds a weapon for Anthony Richardson. Could see trade down here. Seahawks - OT Troy Fautanu OC Ryan Grubb was his collegiate coach 49ers (via JAX)* - WR Brian Thomas Jr I projected an Aiyuk trade and pick swap here Bengals - OL Taliese Fuaga Slide stops here Rams - EDGE Laitu Latu I think OT would be a strong consideration here as well. Steelers - OL Graham Barton The Steelers need at C is well known. Russ needs clean A gaps to operate. Dolphins - OL Jackson Powers-Johnson I think they'd love Barton to be here, but McDaniel will love JPJ personality Broncos (via PHI)* - EDGE Jared Verse Possibility the Broncos could move back yet again and grab more picks. Nix is a day two talent. Vikings - OL Tyler Guyton After not giving up this pick in trade (future picks) the Vikings get additional QB protection. Cowboys - OL Amarius Mims Cowboys have too many needs to trade up, take the OL that falls in their lap. Packers - DB Cooper DeJean Versatile DB can play safety or corner. Wouldn't be surprised to see Packers TRY to move up. Buccaneers - EDGE Chop Robinson - Couple options here CB or edge. ultimately went edge. Commanders (via AZ) - OL Patrick Paul Maybe a bit earlier than expected. Bills - WR Xavier Worthy Bills tried to trade up but were unsuccessful. Land a WR anyway. Lions - CB Kool Aid McKinistry Lions could be a trade back candidate here, Ravens - OL Jordan Morgan Went back and forth with this one. Probably my most debated pick Jaguars (via SF)* - CB Nate Wiggins Wiggins could slip to 2nd. Chiefs - OL Kingsley Suamataia BYU connection again for Reid? . Too high according to NFL Draft Buzz and the other mock draft sites below per this screen shot. He airmailed plenty of balls when pushed off his base in the pocket. He definitely maintains his mechanics better than Maye right now though. The dude lacks no confidence. I will give him that: I love that he's stepping into this with confidence. One of RG3's biggest struggles was not staying true to himself and trying to fit into others' expectations of a QB. Thankfully, many outdated coaches and media figures have either adapted or retired, and QBs who both look and play like him have excelled in the league, paving the way for him to be bold and speak his truth. He comes off as very comfortable in his own skin.
HTTRDynasty
If the pick is Daniels, I have to say that Dan Quinn kind of gave the game away early. Calling Daniels a “game-changer” when playing word association (which was by far the strongest reaction from him out of all the QBs) and gushing over the way Daniels goes through progressions. I have to say that was around the time I really started to think we were leaning Daniels despite my preference for Maye. Early warning sign that we may need to keep this guy away from a mic whenever we’re trying to hide our intentions. 4 1

There was even a TV commercial of him donning Redskins paraphernalia before draft day. Edited April 25 by BurgundyBooger

That’s what it is going into the draft but could change if we trade up into the first round to get an OT or could change if we trade down and pick up a pick or two. If we trade back into the first round, I’d prefer somewhere after 20. Wherever we move up, only costs us one 2 and one 3. Welcome aboard Jayden. May you have a nice long career here and earn some of that Superbowl bling. Edited April 25 by 88Comrade2000
illone
Draft memory from 2012 We were in the hospital to deliver our 2nd child, Domenic. I probably had 1-2 hours of half-rest in that chair, torture device, pullout thing they call a bed. My son was 18 hours old, so he was still back and forth from screenings, bloodwork and all the other initial protocols. Luckily I had a short window during the initial few draft picks while wifey was resting to get some pizza delivered to the room and take a breather without a nurse or screaming baby in the room. It felt pretty serendipitous to welcome my first son while my favorite football team was ushering in a new era of Redskins football. Short story long, my wife woke up to a room full of other new dads and nurses all hootin and hollerin at the TV. For a brief moment she thought my son had died and they brought the cavalry to deliver the news. I think it took her a good 10-15 seconds to figure out what was going on. Worst moment of her life while I was having the time of my life LOL. We still laugh about it to this day. She reminds me every year right around Domenic's birthday 😂 As we embark on this next version of the "team", I feel a similar yet very different type of ominous fortune about to bestow itself upon Washington. We'll see how it plays out, but this feels like the right thing to do. 3 1

KDawg
My take has been well established, I think, but drafting Daniels and trading back up for Patrick Paul would make my draft night feel… not as happy as I’d like. JD I’m “okay” with. His upside is fantastic. Can live with it even if I don’t outright love it. The potential is there. But trading back up for Paul rubs me the wrong way.
