I actually feel sorry for people like you that harbor this much hate because it’s really not your fault. People with fragile minds can be conditioned to hate very easily. This is what has happened to you.

The media has driven it home in your mind over and over that anyone on the other side of your political spectrum is a grave enemy that must be destroyed and even wish death upon. I would never wish death and pain on someone just because of their political views. But I guess that’s just how one side operates now.

im not going to rejoice in a death... i never do.

but tell us all the truth.... you really ARE trying to be ironic or sly or silly here....right?   You just exactly described the situation that Rush Limbaugh brought about more than any other 10 people combined and then straight-faced pretended like you weren't talking about him.

Is your schtick performance art ???

It's actually hard to tell if this person has listened to way too much Rush Limbaugh, or has never actually listened to a single minute of Rush Limbaugh.  It's one extreme or the other, but I can't tell which.

I play in a golf league and found out this morning that I'll again be joining a foursome 2/3 comprised of these folks once again.  2 late 40's white guys that feel its their duty to discuss 'current events' the entire 9 holes.  It's basically the Rush Limbaugh show between the two of them.  Rarely do I even feel its worth entering into any debate, because that's not what it is.  It's just two boomers stuck in their ways that aren't about to change their mind no matter what they are presented with.  I often wonder if they even realize just how miserable they sound, and if they realize that it's all because they choose to gulp this stuff down 24/7.  It's to the point, I'm thinking of foregoing playing this year, as it's the only avail spot for me.

That is a tough situation.  My first thought is Trump is now out of the news, this Trump talk may die down. But I sure would not want to be stuck with those guys for an entire summer.  Any chance you can ask them to tone it down?  Or is that an unreasonable request?

The people in here talking about having to endure the political BS while doing something like a golf outing which should be enjoyable is what resonates with me. I'm a conservative, but am just so damn tired of the negativity.

I purchased one of Rush's books early in his career and thought it was decent, but never really listened to his show. Him going after a preteen Chelsea Clinton really turned me off. Rush may have been generous in his private life (Sean Hannity is reportedly a nice guy), but the schtick these guys have undertaken to make a buck has severely harmed discourse in this country.

I listened to Rush alot in the mid 90's during Clinton's tenure. Even bought one of his books. I remember him appearing on a sitcom once.  He's just got more out there as the gop went out there. Hell, I watched FoX news more before Trump.  Now, it's MSNBC or CNN.

Conservatives lost any credibility they had left; when they embraced Trump.

When someone preemptively yells "America will not be a socialist country " in all caps on Election night, I think you have your answer.

Just to be clear my absolute preference is to NOT talk any politics on the golf course - which I believe is your point - people need to just shut the **** up already! So I agree totally. But I jsut can't sit silent when they say some stupid ****. It's just not in my DNA.

I listened to him very early on when he did not take himself so serious. He admitted it was schtick to sell advertising. He even lectured one guy who said - Hey Rush thanks for being the voice of conservatives"! And he replied, "I am only here to do one thing, sell advertising. If you happen to agree with what I am saying OK." It was all more like satire to me. I thought it was kind funny in a sad and pathetic way.

But then he started taking himself seriously and his messages of hate and ignorance starting be more frequent and more hateful. I stopped once it wasn't just schtick to entertain anymore. So I stopped listening to him.

For everyone in this thread mocking this man’s death I hope you find it just as funny when your loved one is dying of cancer.

It’s called karma and I believe in it.

Totally agree. It finally caught up with him...

I know where you're coming from. And it's not like you have to come from a position where you think everything Trump did was terrible. But when you're dealing with folks who wont even acknowledge that Trump's social media behavior (as well as his horrible public relations response to covid) were major factors in him losing....I dont even see the point in attempting to even converse with such people. Same with Biden. Instead of criticizing him for being somewhat wishy washy so far in aspects of us getting back to normal, all you hear from the same people is "Joe is senile."

I've given up. Why bother trying to have an intelligent conversation when it isnt possible.

So much this.

I don't care if my playing partners agree with me on every major issue.  I don't want to talk about it.  Let's talk golf, sports, family, vacations, investments, even work.

But for these folks, that listen to your Rush Limbaughs and others like him all day every day, it's all they really care about and feel the need to share that with everyone else they come into contact with.

Trump was basically Rush's end game.  Not Trump himself necessarily, more the fact that a person such as Trump could end up as President.

Rush ultimately won because he lived to see the day that right-wing talk radio (and subsequent TV/online outlets)  operating under the business model he is mainly credited with birthing, was able to grow it's influence so far and wide that it got a someone elected President largely on the idea that "finally, someone telling it like it is" and of course we all know that is just code for "he repeats all the things I've been hearing on right-wing media for the last 30+ years"  90% of Trump's gimmick was "older angry white male grievance"  and that is very much what a large part of modern conservatism is about.

This person expressed pride in how Brett Kavanaugh handled himself at his hearing.  I'm sure that will lead you to the answer.

Yeah I got to agree with the others. If you can't see how " anyone on the other side of your political spectrum is a grave enemy that must be destroyed" sums up Rush Limbaughs entire schtick for decades you are not being honest and you are part of the divisive problem we have in this country today.   Conservatives are so angry at the liberal media they are unable to admit that their media sources behave the same way. In the case of Rush it was to the extreme, he was much more combative than even CNN.

Umm... Whose side just conducted a violent insurrection against the US Capitol because their guy lost? Whose side planned assassination attempts against Michigan's governor because she dared to ask people to wear a mask and tried to prevent thousands in her state from dying from a pandemic? Whose side now calls its base the KKK and neonazis?

Was going to say just this. The right literally wanted to hang Mike Pence for not overturning the results of a free and fair election. And we’re the ones who are deranged and sick?

Take your sanctimonious BS elsewhere @BruceAllenIsFootballGenius
