Has your team support wained due to ownership or can you see past it?

  1. 1. Will you attend a game and support the team while Dan Snyder is the owner of the team, regardless of success?

    • Yes
    • No
    • I would start attending games if Dan was no longer the owner of the team.

Yep.  We might actually get someone with class to own this team.  Forget rebuilding the team. This entire organization needs rebuilding.

Well. That sort of starts with us, right?

if we don’t demand it...

I think Rivera might catch some heat for opening his statement basically with "we need to move past this", because really it's not time for that yet. It needs to be faced head-on, and openly. The rest of the off-season needs to be tearing apart the organization and stitching it back together around the people who are clean.

But Snyder will just have that super-lawyer do her best to clear him and attempt to patch whatever superficial holes this blows in the image of the team.

This isn't Rivera's fault mind you. He should not have been the first word on this from the organization.

Good point, I didn't catch that but that's something he should tell the players not the public.

Some here compare Dan to George Steinbrenner. I think he’s Donald Trump like in many ways and Dan is probably an example of what Donald would be like as an NFL owner.

No. Trump couldn't make money with a CASINO. A casino in AC. During a freakin' boom cycle. Dan MAKES money from the team. That's probably the nicest thing I'll say about him. And DS has a bigger net worth than DT.

On the comments on cnn? Sure. Random Facebook/Twitter/office environment (do we have these anymore?!)? Sure.

On a Redskins message board where the lead up has been “oh crap this might be enough to force him out” calling it a nothingburger has a different context.

The rumors were about snyder being linked to child rape and pedo with Epstein, money laundering...

sorry but a handful of execs practicing stereotypical workplace harassment because they think the rules don’t apply to them and it’s a good old boys club doesn’t compare. It just doesn’t.

I get what you're saying, but I would buy that more if the comments were "This is terrible, needs to be rooted out and extinguished. Compared to what I was expecting, though, it feels like a nothing burger." But I'm very literal lol...if they don't say that, they don't mean that.

You aren’t getting no such thing. This story will not lead to the removal of Dan.

Ron will have to somehow win; in spite of Dan.

Maybe not. The jackass gets no more money from me.  This is from a guy who lives and breathes Skins football.

The 80s kid in me who couldn’t wait for Sunday, the 90s teen who held on and attended the last games at RFK, and the young 20 something fan who went to nearly every home game for a decade are dying over what has happened to us.

Any real fan would demand nothing less than him leaving and would refuse to support Snyder.  Any real fan...

yeah and there’s also people that were exactly what you are describing here

might be worth giving people here the benefit of the doubt on this one, give them enough rope they’ll hang themselves on the issue anyways

That's why I quit watching about a decade ago. This message board is the most entertaining thing about the team, and the Tailgate at that. Not the stadium.

yikes, good point. He's already getting criticized on twitter for seeming to be a hypocrite.

I don't think already claiming the lawyer is merely a facade and will write up a whatever type of review Snyder wants her to is the right stance to take. Far better to just let it play out lest we start sounding like Trent Williams refusing the independent investigation because "why bother?" lol...

This isn't Rivera's fault mind you. He should not have been the first word on this from the organization.

Then he shouldn't have spoken. That IS his fault.

Seems to me the employees lost. The players lost. The cheerleaders lost. The fans lost.

We have all lost because of this hot trash owner.

If nothing he does but selling satisfies you. You’re probably going to be disappointed

Maybe so.  Actual fans ... real Skins fans... those who bleed burgundy and gold... will refuse to buy merch, will not give him TV ratings, and will not go to games.

I am all in for this team.  My money will be back when he is gone.

Thinking back to how snyder behaved when first taken over, all the way through now...

this team has no soul. It lost it the day snyder took over.

most of what he’s been destroying for the last several years was a soulless carcass. The soul was destroyed long before

At this point, Bezos just has to outright buy this team from Snyder. Make him an offer he can't refuse. That's our only hope.

If the franchise is valued at 3.3 billion, Bezos gotta be like here's 4.2 billion. Which is a drop in the bucket. Crazy world where we live in where 4 billion is nothing for a person.

I had wondered about whether or not more articles from more NFL teams would start to surface, kind of like how there were multiple teams that had cheerleader controversies. For me, there is probably a bigger issue at play than the Redskins and/or Snyder. I mean, you hope it's more isolated, even if it applies a temprorary stink on the team at least we can say it's not league wide and just accepted. But another part of knows better, and pretty much always has but didn't put it at the forefront of my thoughts until now.

I don’t think much happens because this behavior probably isn’t exclusive to the Redskins. This behavior probably exists on other NFL teams and the last thing the NFL wants; is for the press to start looking at other teams.

The only thing that might nudge Dan from the team is if corporate sponsors pull away from team because of this, like they are the name. I wouldn’t expect that because those corporate sponsors may have sexual harassment problems of their own.

Now that be the final straw for some and that’s fine. Whatever happens in future so no longer concerns you; you no longer support a team that allowed something like this to happen.

Bezos won't do jack squat.  They are tons of other owners who could do a better job than Snyder.  I want a Mark Cuban type owner.

Thank you for saying it, I was going to post this earlier as a reminder of who we are dealing with, but figured it would be distracting from the current situation.  But screw it, this is a miserable human being we're dealing with and it's only a matter of time until his poison impacts Rivera.

And there’s no doubt in my mind that the team name is related to all of this.

the man sold out the team name either as a distraction, or a gesture of caring or changing or something, and to protect sponsor money because he can’t figure out how to operate a money printing machine.

i don’t care about what side of that debate anyone is on, and this isn’t the thread for the discussion, but I don’t think the linkage is deniable. How exactly it all fits I’m guessing but it fits somehow.

Not sure if this was posted, but this is what I was referring to for Rivera being criticized as a hypocrite after his statement on the WP article. My point is not that he sholdn't have said anything, it's that there is no safe way of addressing a controversy, no matter when you do it:

Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera defended his decision to use the name of his embattled owner during his postgame, locker-room speech Sunday after the Panthers clinched a playoff berth.

A week after owner and founder Jerry Richardson announced he was selling the team amid an NFL investigation and allegations of sexual misconduct and use of a racial slur, Rivera asked his players to shout Richardson’s name following the 22-19 win against Tampa Bay.

In a video posted on the team’s website, Rivera says: “Just remember guys, this is about team. Everything we do is about team. The most important thing is about team, OK? All right, do me a favor – ‘Mr. Richardson’ on three. 1-2-3!”

Some critics on social media and Charlotte sports-talk radio questioned Rivera’s decision to rally around an owner accused of maintaining a pattern of sexually suggestive language and behavior and, in at least one instance, directing a racial slur at an African-American scout.
