I'm closely following the mass vaccine distribution in the UK, but so far my favorite nugget is that the second person to receive a vaccine was a gentleman named William Shakespeare.

To be vaccined or not to be vaccined...

That is the Question.

What a freakin' moron.  Skyrocket, by definition means to go up into the sky with the speed of a rocket.  Skyrockets don't go down unless they crash and burn like his presidency, re-election campaign and intellect. Sort of like this:

And how many more have to die before the rest of these idiots wake up to reality?

What Changes Minds About Masks? In This Small Town, It Was A Child's Death

In August, local officials in Washington, Mo., a small city an hour west of St. Louis, voted against requiring residents to wear masks to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

On Nov. 23, with COVID-19 cases surging and the local hospital overflowing, the City Council brought a mask order back for another vote. As protesters marched outside, Councilman Nick Obermark, an electrician, was the sole member of the nonpartisan council to change his vote, causing the mandate to pass.

One of his many reasons? He has a child the same age as Washington Middle School student Peyton Baumgarth, 13, who on Halloween became the youngest person in Missouri to die of COVID-19 complications.

"That hit pretty hard," Obermark said later. Though the councilman doesn't like wearing a mask, he said it's worth it to prevent even one or two people from getting COVID-19.

Washington became the latest community to flip its stance on masks and other restrictions while the coronavirus ravages the country.

Agents raid home of fired Florida data scientist who built COVID-19 dashboard

State police brandishing firearms Monday raided the Tallahassee home of Rebekah Jones, the former Department of Health data scientist who built the state's much-praised COVID-19 dashboard before being fired over what she said was refusing to "manipulate data."

"They pointed a gun in my face. They pointed guns at my kids," Jones tweeted shortly before 5 p.m.

Jones — who launched her own COVID-19 dashboard after she was fired, and used crowdsourcing to raise money to support it — said the agents knocked on her door around 8:30 a.m. that morning, took all her "hardware and tech" after showing her a warrant based on a complaint filed by the Florida Department of Health.

A video accompanying the post shows Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents in vests at the front door with guns drawn, asking who else was in the house. She said her husband and two children were inside as they escorted her out of the house.

"FDLE began an investigation November 10, 2020, after receiving a complaint from the Department of Health (DOH) regarding unauthorized access to a Department of Health messaging system which is part of an emergency alert system, to be used for emergencies only," Plessinger said.

Jones was fired for insubordination in May after being reprimanded several times, state officials said. Her paperwork doesn't state a cause for her being fired, but she claims she was terminated for refusing to manipulate health data to cast Florida in a more favorable light.

She tweeted: "They took my phone and the computer I use every day to post the case numbers in Florida, and school cases for the entire country. They took evidence of corruption at the state level. They claimed it was about a security breach. This was DeSantis. He sent the Gestapo."

Merry effing Christmas!

First signs of Thanksgiving COVID-19 wave emerge

The first signs of a post-Thanksgiving surge in coronavirus cases are beginning to show up in data released by states across the country in a troubling prelude of what may become the deadliest month of the pandemic so far.

There are some hopeful signs that the third wave is ebbing in parts of the Midwest. The number of newly confirmed cases has declined for two straight weeks in 10 states, including hard-hit Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan and New Mexico.

But new data shows other states experiencing substantial increases. In Alabama, where authorities reported about 14,000 new cases a week through middle and late November, case counts jumped to more than 22,000 in the first week of December. Georgia’s case counts rose in early December by about 50 percent from its November figures. Florida cases spiked to 65,000 last week, a substantial increase over its averages last month.

“At this point, we could be just picking up the beginning of the Thanksgiving surge, but surely in the following week we’re going to see it,” said Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Prevention at the University of Minnesota. “We’re slingshotting this surge of cases into the holiday season in a way that is truly dangerous.”

Cases have risen over the last week in 38 states and the District of Columbia. In the summer wave, the virus was spreading fastest in Arizona, where at its peak 380 residents per 100,000 were becoming infected every week; now, 35 states have per capita infection rates higher than that.

Though I honestly am curious where in the actual **** those threshold numbers came from and who decided on them. 297.83? 99.28? Did some drunk Fox News intern just steal his kid's algebra homework and grab the numbers from it?

I am pretty sure those are supposed to be ranges and the 0 new cases is supposed to be 0-44.5 or something...

I’ve been saying this since last week.
the fallout and peak of thanksgiving will take longer than most models I’m aware of. I believe most models have day 10 as the peak. The problem is the nature of thanksgiving. It’s not just a one day thing etc.

The models I’m aware of had 12/7 as the peak. 10 days after Thanksgiving. I think we should be measuring with 12/3 or 12/4 as where we count from. Or somehow change from 10 days.

it’s gonna be next week when we see how many people are infected from people around them that got infected from thanksgiving. I think that’s gonna be a bigger/harder wave than infections solely on thanksgiving day

I'm not trying to make light of the situation at all, but that woman is clearly overweight so to say she has "no underlying health issues" is a bit misleading.

They have been saying that obesity and being overweight is really bad if you get covid.  She doesn't look like she's super obese or anything but she is clearly overweight, regardless of being pregnant.

She looks like someone who is 8 months pregnant, not overweight. That’s the way I see it, at least.

I disagree I think she looks overweight.  Her arms are kinda large and she looks doughy up around her neck and chest.  Again, I didn't say she is obese but that she is overweight.

My wife just had our second kid.  She weighed about 20lbs more this entire pregnancy than she did for our first son 5 years ago.  This woman looks larger than my wife did when she gave birth 4 months ago.

I know what pregnant women look like.

Oh, and I'd never tell my wife she was overweight, I'm not that stupid.  Although she knew she was too and brought it up sometimes.  I kind of just nodded and kept my mouth shut.

EDIT:

The problem with America now is that we are so used to everyone being overweight that it now looks normal to be overweight.
