2019 NFL Draft discussion thread

Our depth is finally looking NFL level. To be honest, we have depth all over the place, but need good starters in others (like WR for example). OL could use depth but otherwise I would say as a team our depth is definitely firmly in the middle of the league. Our DL depth is obviously pretty insane with Payne, Ioannidis, Allen, Settle, and Brantley with 3 potential stars and a very strong starter in Settle. Settle impresses the hell out of me every time he's on the field.

Because the 2013, and 2014 drafts are now so far back in the rearview mirror (The picks we gave the Rams would have been FAs or cut if they weren't good to great players), in my eyes those drafts are no longer really affecting us like they have been. We are stockpiling picks, and it feels damn good. There's competition everywhere on defense and the best players will rise.

Is everyone snapping chicken bones in unison as some form of sacrifice?  Just curious how far y'all plan to take this.

Maybe throw a little sage and rosemary in there, and grind it into dust, chanting the famous line from The Matrix ("There is no spoon), except replace "Spoon" with "Bone"

I don't think he's going to be that good.  These guys aren't often wrong when a WR falls that far.

I think wide receivers who get drafted that late rarely have the opportunity to shine.

Like who is going to have the balls to let a 6th round receiver start at the X early on or give them them the leash that say doctson got? I think Antonio brown was a 6th rounder though.

Fortunately for Harmon, he fell into the perfect place with no true X and little competition for it.

Using the past tense for doctson was intentional.

His speed is supposed to be an issue.  I'm seeing 4.6 as his combine 40.

Harmon calls him the Quinoa of the WR Class:

https://www.thefantasyfootballers.com/articles/reception-perception-the-overlooked-kelvin-harmon-brings-substance-over-flash-to-the-2019-wr-class/

He was seen as a top 3-5 WR precombine. Then he turned in a horror show performance:

Speed Score: 70th percentile (30th w/o size adjustment)

Burst Score: 15th percentile

Agility Score: 21st percentile

——————-

College #’s are solid.

Dominator: 54th percentile

Breakout Age: 44th percentile

Its the athletic profile that destroyed his stock, he was a day 2 guy w/a better combine (not great, just adequate) but it was a worst case scenario one. I really like him, but worry. He’s clearly seen as a potential Doctson replacement because he has the same skill set, just a significantly inferior athletic profile. Can he make the leap? Maybe. We have a much better WR prospect in Harmon than McLaurin, but McLaurin has the athletic profile while Harmon is the WR that actually produced. Will make for an interesting training camp and preseason, Davis, McBride , Chesson, vs McLaurin and Harmon.

Tidbits I'm hearing I'm really liking early on:

'Terry McLaurin is the best gunner in the nation' - Teammate

Holcomb led team in tackles multiple years, underrated talent

multiple team captains

Harmon's work ethic

Pierschbacher big game experience, 4 straight NCG's

Haskins putting league on notice

Moreland's big play ability, record setting at his level. Kick block specialist, whaaaa

Sweat may have been misdiagnosed

Love interested in medicine, demonstrates diligence and character

Just couldn't really ask for more from talent/need/character perspective. On the surface, early on, looks to be really solid.

Bee was one of the Marshall players I thought was interesting

If Harmon can be more productive than DOctson I think that's a win.  I think he'll be more than that.

So figure our Initial WRs Depth Chart look like:

Harmon
Mclaurin
Richardson
Quinn
Doctson
Sims
Davis
CHesson

(I don't think any of the rest played all that much?)

I know I left off Brian QUick, did he actually resign? Or not? (I'm not sure where he fits)
