Texas-based hate group source of 80% of all U.S. racist propaganda tracked in 2020

Texas-based group Patriot Front was responsible for 80% of racist, antisemitic and other hateful messages tracked in the U.S. by the Anti-Defamation League last year in its annual report on white supremacist propaganda.

Dallas-headquartered Patriot Front, which espouses racism and antisemitism and prominently uses former President Donald Trump's "America First" messaging, was responsible for 4,105 of the incidents cited in the report. Texas also had the highest number of appearances of racist propaganda messages last year at 574.

“We’re concerned about this increase in white supremacist propaganda, especially since Patriot Front, a Texas-based organization, is responsible for much of it,” said Mark B. Toubin, ADL's Southwest regional director.

“White supremacists use these techniques to bolster recruitment and spread fear by targeting specific groups, including the Jewish, Black, Muslim and LGBTQ+ communities, as well as non-white immigrants," he added. "We’re watching this activity very closely.”

The FBI recently reported that hate crimes in the U.S. rose to their highest level in more than a decade. Anti-Asian attacks have also grabbed headlines during the pandemic, and eight people, including six Asian women, were shot dead at Atlanta-area spas on Tuesday.

Wasn't real sure where to put this - if someone has a better place let me know.

This elderly asian woman (72) was sucker punched by an idiot. He ha apparently done it before - the other victim was in his 80s. ****ing coward. But the reason I had to post this is she beat the **** out of him!!  She found a board and ****ed that dude up!!  Nothing good about her getting jumped - but so awesome she took up for herself and messed the dude up!  he will get beat on a daily basis in jail. Has it coming - ****ing coward. This story at least has a better ending than most but she is still suffering from fear and anxiety. Yet these white racist ****s keep going around saying there is no racism.

I really wish I was there when one of these cowards did this crap. I move pretty quick for a old fat guy!  I always wonder what the people there are doing - just let a guy like this punch an older woman. Cowards themselves.

Been hearing a lot about the rise in attacks against Asians.

this is why calling it the China flu or Kung flu or whatever our fellow dip**** country mates thought was clever was a bad idea.

and they looked at us all when we said it like we’re crazy or snowflakes

but the thing is none of those dip****s even know about the increase because they don’t actually follow news that’s founded on informing and making you smarter.

which is a major reason why they are dip****s

The problem is that this is the group that if it's not happening to them, it's not a problem.

'Wotanism' ritual in Butte

Ron McVan of Butte, the author of several books espousing white supremacy and "Wotanism," an Aryan-focused religion created by McVan and others including white supremacist and domestic terrorist David Lane, holds flowers to his forehead Saturday before tossing them into a fire at the end of a pagan ceremony on Butte's upper west side honoring the start of spring. About two dozen people from around the country gathered in the backyard of a home on North Excelsior Avenue to celebrate their European heritage with a series of rituals. Wotan is the German name for the Norse god Odin. In a statement issued by Montana Human Rights Network in 2019, MHRN's Travis McAdam wrote, "Ron McVan is a racist Viking living on the Butte Hill ... his ideas, writings, and artwork continue to inspire white nationalists around the world."

Mother of Black student says teacher made racist rant

The mother of a Black 12-year-old boy is seeking damages against a Southern California school district after her son's teacher went on a half-hour tirade laced with racism and profanity.

Katura Stokes filed a damage claim — typically a precursor to a lawsuit — on Thursday on behalf of her son against the Palmdale School District over comments made by a science instructor after a Zoom session with her son in January, the Orange County Register reported.

In her complaint, Stokes said her son had struggled to complete class assignments using the district's online platform for distance learning, instituted because classrooms have been closed during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the complaint, science teacher Kimberly Newman, Stokes and her son had a Zoom session on Jan. 20 to work out problems in using the platform and the teacher finally said the boy was caught up with his assignments.

But then the teacher, apparently unaware that she hadn't exited the session, went on a rant — recorded by Stokes — lasting more than 30 minutes in which she apparently is heard complaining to her husband.

“She's answered her phone for the first time the entire year," the teacher says of Stokes, according to the video obtained by the Register.

“I mean these parents, that's what kind of piece of s(asterisk)(asterisk)t they are," Newman says, and adds: “Black. He's Black. They're a Black family."

“Your son has learned to lie to everybody and make excuses ... to be a child," the video continues. “Since you've taught him to make excuses that nothing is his fault. This is what Black people do.”

That video of the Pakistani grandfather UberEats driver in the Navy Yard was hard to watch....the one teenager gets pulled out of the car by the National Guardsmen and then proceeds to complain about needing her phone inside the car, casually walking by the body as he lays there dying after she killed him....no remorse, no concern about what just happened, only about her phone. It's disgusting

Why The Recent Violence Against Asian Americans May Solidify Their Support Of Democrats

Even before the coronavirus became a worldwide pandemic, some astute observers of racial and ethnic politics feared that the emerging outbreak in China would lead to (and were already contributing to) a rise in anti-Asian sentiment in America. After all, the United States has a long and ugly history of scapegoating racial and ethnic groups for diseases in ways that are used to justify xenophobia.

Sadly, it didn’t take long for those fears to be realized. Racist harassment online, verbal attacks in public and physical assaults against Asian Americans all surged in the early days of the pandemic and have remained alarmingly high ever since. In fact, anti-Asian hate crimes in the U.S. increased by nearly 150 percent from 2019 to 2020.

But it took the murder of six Atlanta women of Asian descent in March for many to finally realize the seriousness of the problem. According to Google Trends data, Google searches like “Asian Americans” and “violence against Asian Americans” skyrocketed after the shooting. Similarly, the share of respondents in last week’s YouGov/Economist poll who said there is “a great deal” of discrimination against Asian people (33 percent) doubled since YouGov asked this question in March 2020 after reports of COVID-19-related backlash against Asian Americans had initially surfaced.

Of course, as the targets of this hatred, Asian Americans have been much more aware of the growing problem. In a June 2020 Pew Research Center poll, 58 percent of Asian Americans said it was more common for people to express racist or racially insensitive views about people who are Asian than it was before the coronavirus outbreak, compared to just 39 percent of all adults. And about half of those surveyed in AAPI Data’s 2020 Asian American Voter Survey also said they worried “very often” or “somewhat often” about experiencing hate crimes, harassment and discrimination because of COVID-19.

Over three-quarters of Asian American and Pacific Islanders voters who thought there was “a great deal” or “a lot” of anti-Asian discrimination in the U.S. supported Joe Biden over Donald Trump in weekly Democracy Fund + UCLA Nationscape surveys conducted from April to September 2020. But only 37 percent of Asian Americans who didn’t think there was any anti-Asian discrimination preferred Biden to Trump in the presidential election.

Alabama Fire Chief Pulls Gun on Black Realtor and Photographer

An Alabama fire chief was arrested in Georgia after pulling a gun on a real estate agent and photographer who had booked a viewing at his for-sale home. The realty team claims the incident occurred because of their skin color while the fire chief’s attorney called the legal charges “baseless.”

AL.com reports that Tarrant Fire Chief Jason Rickels, 43, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, and second-degree criminal damage to property.

The real estate agent, Regina Lee of PalmerHouse Properties, and the photographer, Dwayne Clifford Boddie, owner of Dope Videos unlimited, had arrived at Rickels’ property in Roswell, Georgia, on Friday to shoot photos and videos at the $925,000 luxury farmhouse.

The duo tells officers they had scheduled a client viewing of the home and had arrived early with a crew of 6 other people (including a makeup artist) to shoot photos of Lee for marketing purposes prior to the viewing.

Melody Rickels, Jason’s wife, then saw on her Ring camera that the crew had entered the home with bags. Believing that the scheduled viewing was actually a burglary scam, Melody had her real estate agent ask Lee to leave. When Lee didn’t leave immediately, Melody called her husband and then the police to report that their house was possibly being burglarized.

Lee claims that Jason Rickels then arrived in his SUV and blocked Boddie’s vehicle in.

“Jason (Rickels) asked him, ‘What are you doing?’ to which Dwayne (Boddie) stated he was doing video for a job and showed Jason his camera to prove what he was doing,” the police report states. Rickels then reportedly grabbed the camera, smashed it on the ground, and said, “not here, you’re not.”

The fire chief tells police that he had feared the black object Boddie grabbed from the car was a gun.

In a smartphone video recorded by Boddie after his camera was smashed, the photographer can be heard saying: “You pulled a f*** gun on me. Jumped in my car and broke my f*** camera.” (Warning: the video contains quite a bit of profanity).

CDC declares racism ’a serious public health threat’

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday labeled racism as a serious threat to public health and said it would take steps to address the matter.

“What we know is this: racism is a serious public health threat that directly affects the well-being of millions of Americans,” Rochelle Walensky, the CDC director, said in a statement. “As a result, it affects the health of our entire nation.”

Walensky, one of the most public faces of the Biden administration’s coronavirus response, is the latest administration health official to highlight the issue of racism in public health, and the CDC, the nation’s largest public health agency, joins a number of other groups that have done the same. According to the American Public Health Association, more than 170 local and state leaders, as well as public health entities, have declared racism a public health crisis or emergency.

She added that the pandemic has disproportionately affected communities of color because of racism, which she defined as structural barriers that have an impact on the ways different racial and ethnic groups live.

“Over generations, these structural inequities have resulted in stark racial and ethnic health disparities that are severe, far-reaching and unacceptable,” she said.

With this declaration, the CDC will take a variety of steps to tackle racism in public health, according to the statement. Walensky said the agency was using Covid funding to invest in communities of color, as well as other disproportionately affected groups, to address the disparities. The agency also added a new section to its website dedicated to racism and health, with the hope of drawing more attention to the issue.

The American Medical Association, which declared racism a public health threat in November, praised the CDC’s announcement.

Man arrested for allegedly threatening to stab undercover Asian officer in NYC

A man was arrested on Friday for allegedly threatening to stab an undercover Asian police officer in New York City.

Juvian Rodriguez, 35, is facing several charges including harassment as a hate crime, according to CBS New York.

Rodriguez allegedly approached the officer as they were on an escalator entering Penn Station and started shouting anti-Asian statements, ABC 7 New York reported.

Rodriguez allegedly told the officer to “go back to China before you end up in the (expletive) graveyard,” and then threatened to stab the officer, the news outlet reported.

He was given supervised release after his arraignment on Saturday, and is due back in court in May.

'White Lives Matter' rallies flop as hardly anyone shows up

In semi-private, encrypted chats, neo-Nazis and other far-right extremists planned rallies in dozens of cities Sunday to promote their racist movements and spread their ideologies to larger audiences.

Hyped by organizers as events that would make “the whole world tremble,” the rallies ran into a major problem: Hardly anyone showed up.

The “White Lives Matter” rallies, the first major real-world organizing efforts by white supremacists since 2018, were planned on the encrypted app Telegram after many aligned groups were alleged to have taken part in the Jan. 6 storming of the U.S Capitol.

The poor showing underscores how the country’s unpopular and disorganized extremist movements have been driven underground by increased scrutiny from the media, law enforcement agencies and far-left activists who infiltrate their private online spaces and disrupt their attempts to communicate and organize.

Few “White Lives Matter” marchers showed up Sunday, but anti-racist and anti-fascist groups gathered just the same.

In Raleigh, North Carolina, a small crowd of antifa and anti-racist protesters gathered at the park where the “White Lives Matter” march was planned. They marched around downtown behind a large white sign that read, “WE ACCEPT YOUR SURRENDER.”

The lackluster events were documented by livestreams and photos posted to Twitter.

In Philadelphia, activists tweeted photos of a counterprotest picnic with pizza and Tastykake snacks. In New York City, over a dozen counterprotesters stood seemingly unopposed across the street from Trump Tower, where a “White Lives Matter” rally was expected.

Police in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico, formed a circle around a lone protester to separate him from a large crowd of counterprotesters. Three protesters assembled around a “White Lives Matter” banner outside City Hall in Fort Worth, Texas, where a police line separated them from a couple of dozen counterprotesters.

On the CDC report about racism being a public helath threat, I think they are missing another potentially greater way racism affects the health of citizens.  As I read Caste, there was a portion in it about the bilogical impact of racism.  The author poitns out a few damning points about our society and the impact racism has on our health.

1) In Africa, Black men and women do not have increased rates of diabetes and heart conidtions.

2) There is a biological impact from the increased stress from the perception and/or fear of racism against oneself.  Over time, the constant firing this stress reaction wears on many parts of the body.

3) Here is the kicker for me, the constant impact of racist thinking also leads to the same stress reactions (even if less than the impact of being a frequent target) leads to more heart and other problems.

Thus, while the CDC is correct to point out racism impacted the delivery of needed health supports to deal with COVID, I think they are severely underestimating the true impact of racism on health in the U.S.  I suspect they are doing so because COVID is something many will emotionally connect with now.  I just wish they went a bit further to capture some of the other impacts of racism on our health becuase I think most severely underestimate its impact on them and those they know/love.

For some research on how racism impacts minorities physiologically, check here.

For information on how being racist can hurt us, I quote this Harvard research paper, but there is more for those who look,

"A 2006 study published in the International Journal of Epidemiology conducted a systematic review to examine the relationship between racism and health. The results determined that racism was positively associated with poor mental health outcomes such as depression, anxiety and stress, as well as poor physical health outcomes such as hypertension, premature birth and diabetes. Likewise, racism was positively associated with health behaviors such as tobacco, alcohol and substance misuse. Another finding of this study demonstrated that racism is shown to decrease self-esteem and quality or satisfaction with life and work."

I mean...everyone knows you can get racism by ingesting too much sugar as well. I don't see what the problem is with his excuse.

From the James Bond movie Never Say Never Again.

M:  I know what your problem is.  Free radicals.  Too much red meat and white bread, and too many dry martinis.

Bond:  Well I shall endeavor to cut down on white bread, sir.
