I think im starting to lean towards the guy that actually wants to be a true NT. Whoever that may be....... not a fan of doing things I hate to do. After awhile you just start to lose interest.  See project manager for any references.....lol. Got more money but man i hated it.

  1. New conversation
    1.

Sylvester Williams has left the building. Wait and see mode. Nothing new to add about anyone else.

    2.

When does Bruce leave the building for a wait and see deal???

I don't think we know that Hankins doesn't want to play nose, that was just speculation from someone here.  He played all over the d line in Indy.

I listened to that interview a couple of times.  There wasn't much to takeaway.  Entertaining though.  What stood out to me:

CB  probably stays put as for signings -- but he mentioned they can add depth

RB -- draft, draft, draft -- big need

WR -- thought it was interesting that the young guy he hyped was R. Davis as opposed to M. Harris.

That's the great thing about having Hankins he can play multiple fronts on the DL but of course he would be our NT.  I'm sure they'd move him around though.

If so, I'd rather he choose the Lions.  I want to wait out Hankins and if that doesn't happen then worse case, sign a DT in the draft.  Though I admit its weird for me to root for a player to sign elsewhere -- the competitor in me typically wants the guy here.

Former Titans NT Sylvester Williams visited the Lions Monday and Redskins today. He’s expected to make a decision on where to sign today.

I totally agree that a rotation is the way to go for a full season...but...

Allen actually only played 129 of 246 defensive snaps in the four full games he played. Just 52% of the defensive snaps. Week 6 (game 5) he was injured and I can’t remember when he left the game so I didn’t add that game.
Wk 1: 42 of 69 defensive snaps
Wk 2: 28 of 50 defensive snaps
Wk 3: 22 of 51 defensive snaps
Wk 4: 37 of 76 defensive snaps
Wk 6: 29 of 72 defensive snaps (injured during game)

Ioannidis averaged about 55% of the defensive snaps...but I don't think a broken hand has anything to do with being overworked.

Wow, where the heck did I get that from, then? :ols:

I could’ve sworn reading about that last season and being surprised by how much he was playing.

Not saying I don’t believe you, but do you have a link for that info?

Anyway, that’s actually kind of depressing they still got hurt with that rotation. I had always had it in my head that a big reason they did was they were over used. I guess I just pulled that out of thin air to feel better about it. :/

Either way, when they’re off the field a guy like Hankins ensures next to no drop off, so the main point stands.

Why have we become a retirement home for washed up Cowboys?

Stephen Bowen. Jason Hatcher. Terrell McClain. And now the worst of the lot. The real poor Orlando Scandrick.

From dating a Texan from the panhandle not too long back (God. Not THAT heartbreaker again GHH! GTF over her already!), through drafting for the Cowboys the last three years in our ES mock, I'm pretty well invested in most things Dallas for my sins. And honestly, over the last 5 years, there's some bad, BAD tape out there on Orlando. I would be wholly surprised if he's starting here on merit and not down to money. He defines mediocre and soft.

But even taking him as a low-cost option, you've a starting outside corner/ at worst nickel/ slot corner, who only had 2 years left on his contract, with a base salary of $3 million. That's an absolute steal to most NFL team's looking for veteran corner help. Yet NOBODY had any interest in picking up that contract and trading for him knowing Dallas were finally moving on from the ageing, average members of that secondary like Carr, Claiborne and Church they started purging last year.

And to top it off, there's barely been any former teammates wishing him good luck and saying goodbye. Conversely, with the other Cowboys FA's this past week, there was plenty of good messages to Hitchens, Smith and Wilbur. All has smacks of when he left college early claiming he was blacklisted by his coach. 'I'm done.' Now another sour departure. 'I'm done. Let's get the next short-term payday.'

Another bad move of a poor Cowboy seeing out his days. On our ticket.

Hail.

The deal is comparable to how Scandrick will be used and also it is a value signing

Seems pretty apparent to me we have moved on from Hankins.  Holding out hope too SIP we can make a last minute deal with Hankins too.  But this fella is better than Logan so......

I’m hoping we address RB early enough in this years draft to grab an impactful player..then lean heavily on defense!!!..I don’t understand how it’s not written in stone with any FO that the stronger D ya have, the better chance ur team has at winning the game!!!..having balance is always the best recipe but if ur lacking somewhat on scoring regularly,a GREAT Defense will always better ur chances!!..DB,D-Line,LB!!!!!

Wow, where the heck did I get that from, then? :ols:

I ‘liked’ you’re post earlier regardless of snap percentage but for the reason that, with Ziggy in at NT, you’re getting more bodies on Allen and Ionnidis because Ziggy doesn’t command a need to double team. Whereas if you had a ‘more’ legit NT, it’d be him that takes on the bodies. Thus, keeping our ends in a safer posture.

With the disclaimer on my end that I am purely going on PFF scores, his age, and what I've read -- and if that stuff is on the mark I am not going to cry over him signing elsewhere.   Granted maybe there is something I am missing.  I've really paid nt attention to him or researched him before today.

I am not giving up on Hankins.  He didn't sign right away last year either.  I don't love but don't hate them signing Scandrick in lieu of Cromarite.  Clearly though Cromartie > Scandrick.  I'd rather not rush this signing just because Hankins is taking his time.   Granted I don't know how far apart they are as to money.

Don't make it complex.

Just blame Bruce Allen for all the misery in your life, throw in an occasional "**** Dan Snyder", and you will fit right in. ;)

I lost my job today (no joke)...

Are you telling me that it's Bruce's fault?  Thanks Skins for twenty years of misery...now you get me fired!?

I thought the equation for cap space needed for rookies was the Rookie Pool - ($480,000 X The number of draft picks)

That number is around $3.2M.

Does anyone have more details on this?

I really think signing Scandrick was a move that would be made in lieu of making room for a Hankins. DRC and Hankins and Galette probably not possible. Maybe Scandrick Hankins Gallette is? That along with the McClain news makes me think it's still a possibility. Maybe it's just wishful thinking but i'm thinking Hankins is probably asking for 12-13. We are most likely offering 9-10. And I dont think that's a bad thing.
