**** man.  This ain’t a good look.  I know we will have forgotten this by next week, but it isn’t inspiring for the rest of the race.

On the bright side, Mayor Pete sent me an email stating that he was going to New Hampshire victorious.  That makes me happy.

He's on MoJoe now. 😁

I'm thinking (and it hurts) this format might be the best one, for the first "primary" with a slew of candidates.

Because it allows secondary and tertiary candidates.

The impression I'm getting is that the winner of this "primary" won't just be the person had the most voters who picked him as "first choice".  But who also was a lot of people's second choice.  Maybe third.

And I think there's value in that.

Just move to ranked choice primary voting and we will never need this mess again

Saw someone suggest a national ranked choice primary early in the year, jus get it all out the way and focus the rest of the time on the general.  I like that idea, too, a lot of people only going to change their mind because they think their candidate doesnt stand a chance or drops out.

I dont believe it's true or a baseless conspiracy.  The fizzure is there, down ballots are scared and Perez wont be DNC Chair forever.

For transparency, heres the article him and I are talking about.  In fairness, like Bernie, Perez cant control everyone under him, Perez pushed to stop superdelegates.

Yeah, but that’s the point. It’s a bad idea that a few people had, and politico turned it into a story that has been spun as “DNC is against Bernie”.

I think it’s silly to assume that the party infrastructure is anti-Bernie at this point. Bernie and all of his bad ideas are squarely in the Dem party camp. But the party is big tent enough that he doesn’t hold as much sway as the nutjobs in the Republican Party do (it’s a party entirely of insane people at this point).

To the die hard Bernie people, that’s a conspiracy against him, when in reality, it’s the nature of politics when you draw votes from a broad diversity of districts in terms of demographics and socioeconomic status.

You're talking as if the party is some people behind a closed door.

You are the party.

The media doesn't report, they market and tell people what they want to hear.

Is there a better poster child for white privelge than Buttigieg at this point? The guy who thought a few years as an inconsequential mayor of a small town thought qualified him to be President, and didn't think there was any reason he had to have actual policy positions and within a few months went from running as a liberal firebrand to adopting Republican talking points to get votes, now is deciding that we really shouldn't wait to count votes, we should just accept him as the winner.

Even Bernie, who probably did win, and who's driving people crazy with his self-importance, didn't declare himself the winner. But Mayor Plebe did.

If undeserved confidence is your thing, Buttigieg is your man,

Are you saying you think it's already too late for Bernie to try to block Bernie even if they wanted to?

That's probably true, but theres gotta be something to be said about the amount of damage moderate candidates have been allowed to do to public opinion on MFA when they are basically not allowed to be pro-life and run as a Democrat.

I like Bernie a lot, but I'm not a Democratic Socialist or even flirt with that, so yes, I hope the DNC draws a line now in some way or it will be drawn for them by groups like DSA.  Maybe that's jus the nature of politics, and it will be up to us as a populace to not swing to far to the left or right.

Which is going swimmingly well so far : /

He’s really not, he’s an angry old living meme, but he’s a true believer.  In my opinion, there’s nothing disingenuous about him.  He’s been about it for a very long time, and long before his radical views made him popular.  I may not agree with him on everything, but there’s something to be said for sincerity.

Agreed.

it’s just that some people are hard to listen to. Especially a lot.

I could listen to obama talk all day every day. Even when I disagree with his idea, I find him captivating to listen to.

sanders is closer to trump than he is Obama, when it comes to listening to him (for me at least)

Without responding to the rest of this, it gets really old hearing "white privilege" thrown around as a slur whenever the subject it white, whether it it fits or not.

I mean he’s the only young person in the race.  So the natural argument is going to biased against his age, and of course his skin color since he’s so young.  Doubly so considering he’s very well spoken and seems inclusive in his policies.

If you want an old person, whose worldview likely doesn’t line up with your own then by all means, vote for Biden, Bernie or Warren.

So we got a winner yet or did the DNC go full stupid?

Yes.

Bloomberg (to some extent Biden too) and Trump were the winners.  Biden apparently did poorly in Iowa so this situation will camouflage that, Bloomberg doesn't need anyone breaking out prior to super Tuesday and full stupid helps Trump.

The big losers were whoever actually won (go figure).

Bernie supporters and obvious bots are going wild on twitter today.  Ugh.

It's also kind of concerning listening to a bunch of caucus goers saying they would vote for Trump over Bernie or even Warren to a much lesser extent.

I like it, but Ranked Choice would take a while too.  Didn't it take days in Maine?

I'm fine with some algorithm run after the paper ballots are filled out, gotta be a way to jus slide them through and let the software figure it out, then send the result from each voting station to election headquarters.

When I was doing it for Virginia we didnt call it in, the head officially took everything down to the pens we wrote with the election hq for city of Virginia Beach.  Them calling in sounds suspect as hell, how they prevent fraud with that?  Not that I'm speculating, like I really want to know if Iowa wants to continue having caucuses, I'd lean towards stopping that now.
