visionary
Take #...whatever. So he came back because of the criticism he got, not because he wanted to help people in Texas. At least he's being somewhat honest there.... Edited February 19, 2021 by visionary 3

China
Proud Boy Member Expelled From Sacramento County GOP A member of the Proud Boys has been expelled from the Sacramento County Republican Central Committee. The committee voted Wednesday in favor of removing Jeffrey Perrine after he refused to resign over his involvement with the Proud Boys. Micah Grant, the Sacramento County Republican Party Treasurer and a Natomas Unified School District Trustee, made the motion to remove Perrine. “Mr. Perrine’s beliefs, actions, and public statements are woefully out of touch with true conservative values and were a slap in the face to Republicans everywhere who are deeply embedded in their communities. I’m proud the committee took the necessary action to remove this individual,” Grant said in a statement. The committee also formally denounced all groups that call for “hate or violence against government officials, buildings, law enforcement, places of business and worship, or neighborhoods.” Click on the link for the full article

PleaseBlitz
Quote Cruz’s problem is deeper. He didn’t go to Cancún despite knowing he should be hard at work; it just didn’t occur to him that he could help. That, too, is a kind of power failure. This is the inevitable result of electing people to government so they can fight culture wars, rather than electing people interested in governance. Great work, Texans. 5

Fergasun
Did he say the same thing about assisting in fomenting Jan 6? Trips to Cancun are bad. Riots on the Capitol, not so bad.

tshile
Can someone explain to me what’s senators role is in a state emergency? isn’t that a mayor/governor responsibility?

This is exactly what I thought as well. I don’t have a specific answer for you, but I heard Al Franken talk about how much he learned from one of his staff about the difference he (and they) could make, and the things they wound up doing through multiple emergencies. I’ve heard others give pretty laundry lists. Didn’t retain much though beyond calling donors for aid, helping coordinate, calling agencies, etc. Edited February 19, 2021 by skinny21

If he'd have done half of what Beto and his peeps did yesterday, Cruz would have been patted on the back. There was a lot he could have done even as a figurehead. He chose to run.
