We come up with a nickname for this one yet? If not I put forth Teddy Snowsevelt. Speak softly and carry a 30+-inch stick.

I like it.  I've also seen Edward Snowed-in and Snowvechkin.

Spitballing here... how about John Wall-of-Snow?

Fifty Shades of White?

Wizard Blizzard?

The John Holmes + Ron  Jeremy Blizzard of 2016?

Apparently the coast is going to take a real beating this weekend., per the Capital Weather Gang:

Wave heights near shore could reach 15 or 20 feet this weekend. Powerful onshore winds could lead to hurricane-like coastal flooding. Making matters worse, the prolonged nature of the storm means that winds will be blowing onshore for three high tides. And it’s nearly a full moon.

Forecast models are predicting a storm surge of 4 to 5 feet in Delaware, and 3 to 4 feet in southern New Jersey.15 to 20 foot waves, hurricane-like coastal flooding.

The details are almost identical for the Baltimore area except the warning starts at 6PM Friday.

A couple school systems up here have already declared an early closing for tomorrow.  I hope the big guys follow suit.

Holy ****...Arlington was AWFUL this morning.  Driving in to work, I saw probably 40 abandoned cars.  None of the roads were treated and there was ice everywhere.  Even in my SUV, I was skidding big time.  It's a disaster out there.  Be careful, folks.

Snow causes 150+ accidents, traffic nightmare in DC area

About an inch of snow Wednesday night caused nightmare traffic conditions across the D.C. area, leaving countless drivers stuck behind the wheel for hours.

Ugh.

Those stories and traffic map remind me of the Atlanta storm from 2 years ago.  Hopefully you got some of the same experiences with good samaritans helping the folks who were stranded, and less of the snarkiness from people further north than you about how all of this came from an inch or 2 of snow.

I gave people in my hometown in Virginia (McLean) TONS of crap last night for freaking out over an inch of snow :P I've lived in NOVA my whole life and have seen plenty of stupid over such a little amount of snow, it hurts to imagine just how much worse things are going to get tomorrow night

Sort of like a maitre D but at a gentlemen's club.

That's what I thought, but I didn't want to ask if his wife is a stripper. ;)

Hah!

I call her a nurse, technically she is a nurse she's still a registered nurse, but she's in management now. She only works on the floor (walking around, seeing patients) to follow up on her employees or to try to fix a problem. She hasn't worked a floor shift in almost 3 years now. So they're going to have her work a floor shift, with a pull patient load, even though that's not even her job anymore, because the higher ups have declared that it's the management staff's duty to make sure there are enough people to take care of the patients; no matter what it takes.

When you can't get your people to show up and do the job, you have to do their job. Doesn't matter that you don't get paid hourly and you'll be putting in 60+ hours at that point, doesn't matter that you haven't done the job in 3 years.

Who knows, maybe they'll restore my faith in humanity and show up and do their job.

oh well, she'll hate doing it, but she'll do it. unlike some she takes her obligation to the profession seriously.

when my dad was our age, in a situation like this, him (or any of the people they work with) would show up to the firehouse at 3PM on Friday (even though their shift didn't start until 7) so that the person they were relieving could get out of there before the snow/traffic (and not get stuck all night because of the numerous traffic accident calls that will come in between 5-7 once the snow starts.) that's how people used to be. today they're super greedy, call out of christmas or bad weather, and just don't care about their co workers.

/end wanna be old man rant

someone at the tailgate is going to tell her i told you all she was a stripper and i'm not really going to be able to explain that.

something like this has happened before, but i cannot remember what it was. but someone said something at the tailgate and put me in a bad spot. like now, i had done nothing wrong. but it certainly wasn't easy to explain at the time.

The inch of snow wasn't the problem, it was that it instantly froze onto untreated roads and became a sheet of ice that was a problem.  What happened around here last night doesn't happen every time we get an inch of snow.

Not to excuse bad drivers or people doing stupid stuff, but all the "DC freaks out over 1 inch of snow" stuff I've seen today is ridiculous.
